Gish is my wish!

Advantages: Hardcore Pumpkins.
Disadvantages: Poor lyric book. Less mainstream for those easy listeners.

...Gish was the album that launched the Smashing Pumpkins into their succsful career path, and although it didnt put them into immediate stardom, it was an excellent foundation for their next two albums "Simaese Dream" and "Mellon Collie". The music is less refined in gish, a louder, more raw intense sound, with heavier drums and guitar and less clear singing and lyrics from Billy Corgan! The opening track "I am One" completely defines the Pumpkins with their hard rock sound but they seem to mellow out, showing glimpses of their more peaceful gentler sound with "Window Paine", "Rhinocerous" and "DayDream". It is defintely a good album, but I would only reccomend if if your a Pumpkin fan, and if your just starting to like them, get their next two albums first before developing your collection and buying htis one. Good album nonetheless!...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. I Am One. One instant Pumpkins fan.

Advantages: Pumpkins the way they should be: Hard, fast, varied
Disadvantages: Still a little raw for some, lacks the emotion of later albums

...About a year ago, I bought, completely on impulse, 'Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness', by the Smashing Pumpkins. At that time, the only thing I had heard about the Pumpkins was from the 'Hullabalooza' episode of the Simpsons. Now, 13 months later, in a frantic bid to hear as much of the Pumpkins as is finanacially possible, I buy their first album, Gish. For anyone who starts with the soaring, epic opus that is Mellon Collie, one of the most varied and best albums of a long, long time, moving onto the other Pumpkins albums is bound to seem like a bit of a downer. ...My recent quest for FREE DVD hire I visited and many DVD web sites that offered a free trial. Now call me tight (no that wasn?t an invite), but I like bargains and freebies and am not ashamed to say so. My quest took me to enough sites to hire DVDs for about four months so far (with plenty to come too). My latest free DVD site also happens to be the best I have tried for several reasons (see rest of op); the site in question is Blockbuster.co.uk. Other sites that I have had free rentals from and then cancelled have all been similar, two weeks free trial with two DVD?s per time ? which in effect gives you about four free DVD?s. ...Before I bought this DVD player Id never really owned a DVD player before. I had however had and still do have a ps2 on which I used to play my DVDs. I never really went and still don’t go on this so much so I was going to sell it and buy a DVD player. In the end I decided to just keep the ps2 and to get a cheaper DVD player than I was looking for in the first place. The main reason why I wanted a new DVD instead of the one in the ps2 was so I could play divx format DVDs on it. The DVD player in a ps2 doesn’t recognise this format and scene as I have several divx movies already on disk and on my laptop to put onto disk then I wanted a DVD player that would recognise and play this format. DVDs for a fixed monthly fee...

Advantages: Simple, easy to use, quick delivery, good customer service
Disadvantages: May not have all the titles you are after

...I was using one of those sites that offer you points or a few cents for trying out free offers (don't recall which one exactly, may have been 'IPoints'...) and it had Lovefilm's FREE two week trial. I signed up free for the minimal membership which allows you to keep one DVD at a time for as long as you want (with no late fees!) and although I had to give my credit card information, the agreement states that you will not be charged anything if you cancel within the two week period.. The membership ranges from £9 to £15 per month now; I do not recall how much it cost mid last year to be honest.. The other memberships get you 2 and 3 DVDs at a go. I added the films I was interested in to some sort of 'wishlist'. The idea is that they send you one DVD, you keep it for as long as you want, then they send you the next one on your list...

Predictable Supernatural (review of show & DVDs)

...was younger... I suppose there is an element of well what did I expect? but I still feel like they could have maybe made it a bit more unpredictable... Back to the DVD side of things and one real downside in my opinion, is the lack of bonus/special features. Basically in the boxset you get all 22 episodes that made up the first series/season and subtitles in English and Dutch but thats about all. There are no commentaries, deleted scenes or featurettes, none of that. I've heard you get alot more bonus features on the region 1, American version, so for some reason they've omitted that material from this version, which is a shame. The DVDs are seperated into two different sets, Volume 1 (containing 3 boxes with obviously 3 DVDs, equating to the first 11 episodes) and Volume 2 (again containing 3 boxes, equating to the last 11 episodes...
