ANTALYA TURKISH RESTAURANT OUR OASIS IN NOTTINGHAM

Advantages: A VERY FRIENDLY PLACE
Disadvantages: Not able to go there often enough.

...The ANTALYA is our little oasis in the centre of Nottingham. It is located in Forman Street which is next to the Theatre Royal and The Concert Hall, also across the road is the Corner House which houses a Multi Screen Cinema. There are many eating places in the area, but if you are looking for something different to PIZZA.s BURGERS Etc then enter THE DOOR OF ANTALYA TURKISH RESTAURANT. As you enter there is a Small Bar, and I am sure there will be a smiling face to Greet you. There is a large dining area. We usually aim for the tables near the wall as it has Bench Seating against the wall which we find very comfortable. There is also an upstairs area which includes a working Fountain, this area seems to be used as an overflow or for large parties. The decor of the dining areas we find very pleasant...

...Türk = 'ü' : pout your lips as if you want to say 'u', but then say 'ee' tatil = 'a' like in 'wonder', 'i' like in 'give' Congrats, you've just said 'Turkish holidays' in Turkish! The airport for the south coast of Turkey is Antalya, the Hotel Barut Arum is in Side, a small town 60 km to the east (province of Antalya). As the transfer was not included in our arrangement, we had to take a taxi, at the taxi station there's a long list with destinations in the vicinity with fixed prices in Euro, our fare was 65 Euro. The Euro is the second currency in Turkey, so you have to change your money into Turkish Lira as well as Euro, you can do that in the airport while you're waiting for your luggage. ...To start with I must apologise, I seem to have written a novel. We have very recently returned from our summer holiday. This year we thought we would try Turkey as we have never been there before. After looking through the brochures we settled on a hotel at Lara Beach, Antalya. This hotel was called the Titanic De-Luxe Beach and Resort Hotel and is all inclusive. After checking out the resort on Google Earth, I duly set off to book the hotel at our local Thomson travel agent. The hotel does seem quite popular, as I normally only book our holidays 3 weeks before we want to go, however I couldn't do this so ended up booking about 7 weeks in advance. ...I have just returned from a two week holiday to the 5* Hotel Lara Beach in Turkey. What a fabulous place. This is by far the best hotel I have stayed at in Turkey. ***The Resort*** The hotel is located in the resort of Lara Beach in Antalya. This is a relatively new resort which is noticeable by the lack of shops and facilities unless you go to the centre. The majority of hotels in the area are 5* but a large number of holiday apartments are in the process of being built. There does not appear to be many places to go out and eat but as the apartments are developed I am sure the facilities to go with them will arrive. There is a large shopping centre which has just been built but at the time of writing is not yet fully occupied. The Lara Beach Resort is only 20 minutes from Antalya airport/30 minutes from Antalya shopping...

Worth every penny

Advantages: Wondeful food, huge pool area, best 5 star in the city.

...FIRST IMPRESSIONS: I went to the Sheraton Antalya in May 2005 with my husband for our wedding anniversary. I decided to stay here in particular because we were staying in Turkey at the time and had free nights in a Sheraton Hotel to use up. Having said that I had high expectations of the hotel and I wasn't disappointed. The hotel is large and impressive, set above Konyaalti Beach and has a wonderful view out over the beautiful bay to the mountains beyond. An amazing country well worth a visit!!

Advantages: Beautiful, warm, friendly people, cheap!
Disadvantages: Lots of attention from locals, country still a work in progress

...like we do there is quite a bit of haggling to be done as you are the last customers they will see in a while. If you dont get the price you want say no, shake your head and walk away, they are likely to offer you a lower price to bring you back and if they dont youll probably get the price you want from the shop next door. You dont haggle in shops where items are already priced. This is more the case in city shops such as Antalya and some clothes shops. Trying to haggle in those sorts of shops wont get you very far. Sightseeing wise there are plenty of excursions on offer. There are boat trips, coach trips to many of the countries ruins and safari trips into the mountains. These are good value for money and can be purchased from many of the travel shops in the town. We went on one such trip to Myra and Kekova and I thought it was great...

Side - pronounced See-Day what a holiday

Advantages: Atmosphere, Steeped in History, Great value, Very hot, Great beaches, Friendly people

...Now I had never been abroad for two weeks before and never lower in the northern hemisphere than Frankfurt. But when my fiancé booked a holiday for us i thought what the hell and we chose Turkey and the south coast. We did not want to visit Bodrum and the other cities with drunken British youths (to be honest I didn't have a choice) so we chose this quaint ancient city steeped in history and culture. So in August 2003 off we went. We arrived in Antalya airport in the early morning and got taken to our hotel. Park Side hotel just outside Side was our accommodation for the next two weeks so of to our room we went and slept till the next day. Top Quality Palace

Advantages: Lots to do, clean, nice food
Disadvantages: Terrible flight

...Turkey has never been anywhere that I have fancied going on holiday, but in 2006, I took the advice of a travel agent friend and booked for and All Inclusive stay at The Topkapi Palace, departing on 2nd June. Our friend and many of her colleagues had stayed at the hotel and rated it alongside 5 star hotels in The Caribbean. It also had the added bonus of being a direct flight from Newcastle to Antalya. I won't go into detail about the flight as that is another review in itself! After the flight, which was just short of 5 hours, we were very impressed with Antalya airport on arrival as it was new, clean and operated very slickly. Don't forget your £10 note per person on arrival to purchase your visa. We boarded a minibus and were at our hotel within 15 minutes. Disadvantages: none

.... The Mediterranean coast Marmaris is similar to Bodrum : trendly and expensive, with many big hotels. But it offers the possibility to practrice many leasure activity. Not far from the coast, a really delightfull site is Aphrodysias. Near the mount Babadag, the site has been abandoned because of an earthquake. The site is in a soothing pine forest. Now we enter the territory of the old Lycie, with countless antic sites, each more interesting than the others : Patara (really beautifull site near a beach), Xanthos, the island of Kekova (where you will enjoy swimming in a limpid sea), Demre (known also as Myra, famous for its necropolis inlayd in a huge cliff and for its Saint-Nicolas church) and Phaselis (incredible antic haven). Great Family Holiday!!!

...We are as you will know by now if you have read any of my reviews so far a very large family with myself and my wife and 5 children and when trying to book a holiday now we tend to go for villa's but when we only had 3 we decided to take a holiday to Turkey a bit controversial as my wife's family are Greek Cypriot. We decided on Antalya strangly and sadly enough because I recognised the name from a tile supplier I used during my business of selling tiles. We booked our flights and hotel package to the then 5 star Ozkaymak Hotel and off we went in Sept 2003. We got airport parking and all our flight's etc all went to plan.
