...This is a reviewof a package holiday to Phasalis Princess Hotel, Tekrova, nr Kemer, Turkey. Booked through JMC - two weeks all inclusive in Jul / Aug 2002 16 of us in the party (aged 5 to 75) The Phasalis Princess is a modern five star hotel right on the Turkish Med. The setting is fantastic with Mount Tahtali Dagi rising 2,375 metres to the West, the lush gardens of the hotel, with its palm trees and other greenery then splendid azure of the Med to the East. We didn’t expect an Art Déco interior, but Art Deco we got – right down to the cocktail sticks in the Lobby Bar. An amazing country well worth a visit!!

Advantages: Beautiful, warm, friendly people, cheap!
Disadvantages: Lots of attention from locals, country still a work in progress

...many places from the local bus station and fares are very good. But transport mainly runs along the coastline as Turkey is still very much a work in progress and as you move away from the coast inland there arent so many roads connecting places. Travelling inland from Antalya takes you up into the mountains which is still largely very undeveloped and home to basic village communities. It is a wonderfully interesting country but there are stark differences between the thriving tourist towns full of shops and restaurants and luxurious hotels and the little shanty communities that the locals live in. And you dont have to wander far to see how many of the locals live. We decided to take a trip to a reptile centre one day which was just outside the next resort along the coast. Side - pronounced See-Day what a holiday

Advantages: Atmosphere, Steeped in History, Great value, Very hot, Great beaches, Friendly people

...Now I had never been abroad for two weeks before and never lower in the northern hemisphere than Frankfurt. But when my fiancé booked a holiday for us i thought what the hell and we chose Turkey and the south coast. We did not want to visit Bodrum and the other cities with drunken British youths (to be honest I didn't have a choice) so we chose this quaint ancient city steeped in history and culture. So in August 2003 off we went. We arrived in Antalya airport in the early morning and got taken to our hotel. Park Side hotel just outside Side was our accommodation for the next two weeks so of to our room we went and slept till the next day. The hotel I thought was fantastic (although the heat did get too much for the air con and we had to hire an extra fan) it was fantastic. Now i hear you saying why was it fantastic...ok here is...

Advantages: Fresh air. A taste of nature.
Disadvantages: Don't get caught out with Malaria

This particular holiday is based in Olympos near Antalya, which I must remind you is in the Malaria area of Turkey so being in the open would obviously pose a greater risk to infection. If you take quinine as prescribed by your doctor you will be sure of reducing the risk (Also try drinking Indian Tonic water which contains quinine). Anyway back to the trees. Over the last six years Kadirs has expanded rapidly. They now have 40 bungalows accommodating up to 90 people and 40 tree houses for another 145 people in addition to the camping grounds. ANTALYA TURKISH RESTAURANT OUR OASIS IN NOTTINGHAM

Advantages: A VERY FRIENDLY PLACE

It is located in Forman Street which is next to the Theatre Royal and The Concert Hall, also across the road is the Corner House which houses a Multi Screen Cinema. There are many eating places in the area, but if you are looking for something different to PIZZA.s BURGERS Etc then enter THE DOOR OF ANTALYA TURKISH RESTAURANT. As you enter there is a Small Bar, and I am sure there will be a smiling face to Greet you. There is a large dining area. We usually aim for the tables near the wall as it has Bench Seating against the wall which we find very comfortable. I thought of this due to the emense fighting that was going on in Iraq at the time i was going. I also thought "What if Turkey isnt fun?". May 21st 2003, was the day i first went to Turkey with mixed emotions i boarded my plane from Birmingham to the Airport nearby to the resort of Marmaris named Dalaman. +~ ON THE OTHER SIDE ~+ Dalaman is about 1hr and 30 mins away from the actual resort. Upon entering the terminal you have to have your passports ready straight away as you have to pay a visa, From the UK this price is £10 but it varys from place to place. The main terminal building is small but your luggage usualy come round quite quick, and the cost of a luggage trolly is about £1. Outside of the airport...

TURKEY --------------- Turkey is located in south Eastern Europe and south Western Asia, next to Iran, Iraq and Syria, and near Cyprus and Greece. It's a four hour flight away from England.
