harpic limescale remover
Review of Harpic (Anti-limescale products) by laurabaggy

Advantages: gets rid of the limescale very quickly
Disadvantages: the spout it comes out far too quickly and is easily spilt

...i have just bougt this product as i moved into a council flat and as you can imagine the toilet was covered in limescale after reading the back of the bottle i was worried about getting it on my hands and clothes i followed the instructions and found it worked amazingly i was sceptical but was proved wrong you could see the limescale come away from under the rim of the toilet its a fantastic product and i recommend it to anyone and it says on the bottle that it kills the germs and removes the limescale unlike bleach which just bleaches the limescale and thurns it white instead of removing it and i am very happy with this product there is only one thing i dont like about it and that is the spout as it comes out far to quick and is easily spilt which i nearly found out... Morrisons Daily Shower Cleaner
Review of Morrisons (Anti-limescale products) by mlc3188

Advantages: Easy, Quick to use and very effective
Disadvantages: To be used dialy so doesn't last very long!!

...or sensitive skin. This product is produced specifically for Morrisons Supermarkets and contains amongst other ingredients less than 5% Polycarboxylate, Phosphate, Amophoteric Surfactant, Formaldehyde and Perfume. The product comes in a 500ml plastic bottle and must be stored upright in a dry cool place. It is very reasonably priced at 79p and if you go when it is on offer you can pick up 3 bottles for the price of 2, or buy one get one free, making it even more reasonable. The only problem with it is that due to daily use, it goes down very quickly! This is one of the best anti-limescale products I have used. I have a curved glass shower screen and I hate cleaning it!! However, what I hate more is when it goes all cloudy from a build up of dirt and grease! This product is so easy to use. Once you have finished showering just spray onto... Read review

GREAT LITTLE BLOCK OF CLEANING POWER
Review of Tesco (Anti-limescale products) by allyb2003

Advantages: Quick acting, does the job
Disadvantages: Needs lots to shift thick limescale

...This isn't going to be the best in the way of describing limescale as its in our toilet. We've tried numerous products to get of the limescale, but it just didn't shift, until we tried Tesco Anti Limescale tablets. They come in a packet of 8 in a bright yellow and green box and retail for around 80p or so which is very reasonable for a product like this as most other brands are over £1. On the box it instructs you with how many "tablets" to use on normal limescale build up, which is 1 tablet and advises that for best results this should be left in the toilet over night. For thick limescale use two tablets overnight. They come in little packages and can be corrosive to skin so you must wash your hands after using them. On contact with the water in the toilet bowl they start to fizz and work their magic. Next morning, flush... Read review

Has your washing machine been Calgoned ?
Review of Calgon (Anti-limescale products) by FrenchCancan

Advantages: Avoid costly repairs, smells good, easy to use
Disadvantages: If you do not like Blue, the colour

...As most people living in South Britain, my water is very hard, limescale everywhere and although most of the time a good scrubbing or a water filter sorts out the problem, what do you do with your washing machine. Well, I use Calgon liquid. A small dose of Calgon in the soap compartment of your washing machine for EACH wash, and the problem is avoided. It is however available in powder and tablets, whatever your choice, the results stay the same. Whatisit ? Calgon is an anti-limescale product that will keep your washing machine running despite living in a hard water area. Not being a specialist, I can only go with what I see or read. So, your washing machine has a heating part that is located just under the clothe compartment. In area of hard water, this part will become limescaled and will need to be replaced. I had not used Calgon... Read review

Removes Limescale on a Small Scale
Review of Sainsbury (Anti-limescale products) by witchwaysup

Advantages: Looks nice, smells nice
Disadvantages: Doesn't work

...I bought this product when searching out a major brand limescale remover. The bottle was nearly identical. The claims for ability to remove limescale were about the same. The only difference was the price, about 1 pound as opposed to 1.78p. There are certain products where it is not economical to buy the cheapest as only the big brands do the job. I didn't think this applied to toilet cleaner. I was wrong. I have to admit that I have allowed the limescale to build up quite a lot in my toilet, mainly because most limescale removers are far from environmentally friendly. There comes a time when I have to concede defeat though. Sainsbury's sell a lot of own brand products. By and large they are usually just as good as their more expensive well known brand names. As this product was about half the price of it's big brand counterpart I... Read review

Harpic powerplus - The ultimate toielt cleaner?
Review of Harpic (Anti-limescale products) by stephme

Advantages: kills germs, shifts limescale
Disadvantages: the smell!

...This is a review of harpic powerplus toilet cleaner. I normally use various products to clean the loo depending whats on sale, and I've used harpic brands before in good faith, and saw this new bottle. 'Harpic Powerplus has been specially designed as the ultimate answer to tough toilet stain removal. Its unique power cleaning formula penetrates and dissolves even the toughest stains, right before your eyes. The thick gel covers and sticks to the toilet bowl -even right under the rim'. The ultimate toilet cleaner? i've been looking for a product like this!! The bottle is a 750ml black plastic bottle with the usual bent neck for loo rims, and has yellow and red colours on the label. It cost £1.59 from sainsburys which i thought was quite expensive, but anyway i picked a bottle off the shelf and went home. The bottle claims to remove... Read review

Kills germs fast. Or at least overnight
Review of Harpic (Anti-limescale products) by pennii

Advantages: See oppinion.
Disadvantages: None, unless you're silly enough to put it in your eyes

...for the Harpic. If you don't trust my oppinion after this, trust my mum's! This limescale remover used to come in a 325ml bottle but is 50% bigger now. The smell of it's nothing to write home about, the usual bleachy aroma of all good toilet cleaners and is suitable for all loo's except those made of stainless steel. To use, you just direct the nozzle under the rim of your toilet. It immediately starts to dissolve the limescale, but on a nightmare bog like mine, it should be left on overnight and scrubbed with a toilet brush. Come the morning, after leaving said product overnight, I followed these instructions and my loo was sparkling. Really, the build up of limescale was quite disgusting and a miracle took place to get rid of it. I would reccomend this product to all of you, and for sad wordy types like me, Harpic is an anagram of Hi crap. Hee... Read review

Calgon
Review of Calgon (Anti-limescale products) by jacksmithdrums

Advantages: keeps washing machine workings shiny and new!
Disadvantages: cost

...I have been reading the other reviews left about calgon and realised that previous reviewers may be using more than required! I work for a chain of stores which sell electrical goods such as washing machines (but will keep the company name disclosed) and receive frequent training in product areas. One of the most recent areas i have studied is the essentials section to make sure that my customers get the best out of their purchases at the lowest cost possible and calgon have been involved in these training sessions. Yes calgon does reduce the limescale etc but from the other reviewers they think that this is only happening when calgon is added to every wash or every other wash. This is not true. We (as a company) have been told by a rep from calgon that in most areas only need to make use of calgon once to twice a week! This is based... Read review
