Advantages: One inspiring track and 2 other good additions and thats it Disadvantages: Too many fillers and the whole thing jumps around with no thought in track listing
.... These two usually rely on their flow to bring the track home but if youre not a fan the beats dont do anything for you so id have to put my thumbs down for this.
Sole Sunday - Goldie Mob & Outkast Some dialouge from the film included in this but nothing too much else to report on it. Its just a bit boring really and Andre 3000's uplifting raps dont really give it much lift and the wasy it just fades out at the end with a pitty 'well i tried' feel just sums it up really
Shut Em Down - LL Cool J. Ok one of the stars of the film, this is gonna be good. Wrong. Quick raps and shouting fom the man but not great. Its a filler i think he had to get in the cd just so he had some involvement
Shut up - Trick Daddy, Trina, Deuce Poppi & Co of the tre+6. Shocking delivery, it just sounds all over the place and content is nothing new.
Any Given Sunday...
Advantages: Al Pacino Disadvantages: Too long; dubious soundtrack
...When this movie was first released I missed it at the cinema, and was disappointed, as I try to see anything with Al Pacino in it, and “Any given Sunday” had received good reviews.
Now that I have seen it I have mixed feelings about it.
Al Pacino is great in it, and it’s a typically detailed and lengthy movie from Oliver Stone, something which based on past experience should have been in its favour.
But, I finished up not really enjoying it that much.
It’s a movie about American football, and a lot of the footage features stadium action, or backroom talk of tactics. Now it’s a game I can’t for the life of me understand, but I don’t think that’s was my problem with the movie – in fact, it’s a sport that offers lots of visual potential, and the game scenes are very...
...Having burst onto the scene in 2002 with their debut album No Pads, No Helmets, Just Balls, Montreal?s Simple Plan finally return with Still Not Getting Any, an album that takes off from where its predecessor departed and reinforces the band?s commitment to indulgent, catchy, pop-edged punk rock. It was in fact a Nofx/Face to Face concert that gave the inspiration behind Simple Plan?s music, due to the accessibility to youth of the punk scene and the lack of façade, away from other, more pretentious, scenes that give little chance to growing talent.
Simple Plan consists of Pierre Bouvier (vocals), Chuck Comeau (Drums), David Desrosiers (Bass, Vocals), Sebastien Lefebvre (Guitar, Vocals), and Jeff Stinco (Guitar). The quintet has been on the Vans Warped Tour for the last 3 years, an accolade in itself if you put the near 2 million...
...Oliver Stone is a very intelligent director, you have to give him that much. To say that he is untalented would be a crime, but then to say that he is actually 'watchable' these days is another matter. Any Given Sunday is a perfect example of a director who has been allowed to let his own sense of self-importance go to his head and how left unrestrained this leads to lengthy works of ego-massaging cinematic masturbation. At almost 3 hours long, Any Given Sunday soils the sheets on a number of levels and it is only due to the superb cast that it manages to hold our interest for any of its length. Stone has been obviously been allowed to let his 'creative juices' run wild here and the result ranges from the truly sublime to a noisy chaotic mess of hip-hop metal fusion and overly flash editing. At the end of the day its just a football...
Advantages: good show, regular slot Disadvantages: none now
...I'm very glad that Any Sporting Questions has now got a regular slot on Radio 5 Live. It used to be only on when there was no football on Monday night. ASQ is now on once a week every week. It is a show which travels the United Kingdom. Each show has a panel which contains a presenter and several managers etc. from various sports. There is also an audience from the local area who ask questions to the panel for discussion. There is plenty of humor and a lot of informative chat among everyone. The random straw polls give the listener an idea of what the general public want from a sport. It is a very good show which I recommend to everyone who likes any kind of Sport or five live....
Advantages: Breath-taking photography, kicking soundtrack and brilliant plot twist Disadvantages: Possibly too technical for some
..."Any Given Sunday" is Oliver Stone's dipiction of the hard-hitting world of american football starring Al Pacino, Cameron Diaz, James Woods, Jamie Foxx and Dennis Quaid, just to name a few of the all-star cast. The film follows the fortunes of the Miami Sharks through the last few months of a very tough season. After losing their star quarter-back Jack "cap" Rooney (Quaid) and also second choice quarter-back in the same game, coach Tony D'Amato entrusts the success of the team in rookie Willy Beamen (Foxx). After a less than perfect start, Beamen begins to shine, and is soon catapulted into mega-stardom being hailed as the best quarter-back in the game.
Despite this, the Sharks still sturggle to reach the all important big money play-offs, and with club director Christina Pagniacci (Diaz) breathing down D'Amato's neck for results...
Advantages: A really varied album from an inspiring singer-songwriter Disadvantages: maybe not a particularly good order of tracks
...This album was released on Righteous Babe Records, Ani's own record label, in 1994, but I only discovered it last year, and found it to be completely timeless. It is one of my very favourite albums, probably most favourite album in the world. It?s not perfect, (many songs come pretty close) but of all the twelve tracks, there is only one that isn?t particularly brilliant. On the other hand, there are (at least) three songs that I?d include in my top 10 favourite songs!
I would say this CD is a very good introduction to Ani DiFranco, as it has a very wide variety of songs, and is not as extreme as some of her work, though of course it is never boring. It would make a brilliant present, or would be worth buying if you're interested to find out about Ani?s music.
Because this album has such a wide range of songs, I?ll go through it...
Advantages: a great album from one of the leaders of the 'modern' punk-rock genre Disadvantages: -
...Oh well, another week, another MTV Leak, another great album ?!
Green Day - American Idiot *****
Good Charlotte - Chronicles Of Life & Death ****
Sum 41 - Chuck *****
Jimmy Eat World - Futures ***
Simple Plan - Still Not Getting Any?? ??
What could the five rowdy Canadians serve up to follow what?s come before???.
Something that amazed me more than anything, was after their support slot to Avril Lavigne at Wembley Arena, the hoards of people purchasing their debut album ?No Pads, No Helmets, Just Balls? resembled something of a stampede. I?m sure that I wasn?t, but I seemed to be the only person out of 15,000 that already knew who they were, incredible in its own right. The fact that they equal the likes of Good Charlotte, Sum 41 etc, yet still are relatively small fish is something that will in time be...
Advantages: its a great listen when you feel really down Disadvantages: nothing (not for chavs)
...on holiday in Thailand. I saw the video about two or three times before I bought this album. First time I saw it I was lying on the bed after having traveled, and thought it was quite catchy but was too tired to see who the song was by (I recommend that you see the video for this song as Its amazing). The second time I tried to pay attention and ended up shouting at my brother who distracted me at the end of the song so I couldn't see who it was by, the third (they say luck comes in threes) time I saw who it was by and ran out to get it at the local tower records. If you haven't seen the video its not that obvious what the song is about, basically its about a car crash and people are running around trying to save the people who are involved. If any of you have seen the video for Christina Aguilera's "I turn to you" your thinking along the right...
Advantages: None spring to mind. Disadvantages: The price, the colour, the skin staining.
...sheen to it, and i'm not talking ginger red, i'm talking pillarbox red. Urgh.
I'm not going to go into the ins and outs of how to use this dye, but suffice to say, it has a funny smell, and some went on my skin, this was 4 days ago, and its still faintly there, which ive never had with any dye before. When i washed the stuff off my hair was a horrible red. Why on earth would i ever buy this stuff again?
Perhaps the only redeeming feature is that after washing my hair about ten times it came out, but this isn't good for you if youve paid about six quid for a dye that rinses out easily? Oh dear oh dear. Casting? ha! they wouldn't get the role if i were in charge.......
