WORLD'S BEST CABLE
Review of APC printer cable - 3 m by  ReviewDude

Advantages: Good Quality
Disadvantages: Over Priced, USB Now Used

...happy to see the little screws on the cable end. On my old cable I had these tiny little screws and had to get a screw driver if I wanted to unplug the cable but with this model I only need to turn the end to release it. So if you have a printer which needs a cable like the APC why not spend the extra few pounds and buy this. It's very good quality and will never let you down. I couldn't have been happier with it. I'm not too big a fan of USB cables for printers... Bring back APC!... Read review

Erm, it's a cable!
Review of Belkin patch cable - 15 m by  Weltmeister

Advantages: Good build quality, brand name
Disadvantages: A bit pricey.

...Okay, so before everyone gets too excited at the prospect of reading a review about a network cable, I'll bring you all back down to Earth and try to convince you why this one is so great... If you've bought computer peripherals before, you will probably be familiar with Belkin, who are particularly well-known for their USB products. Belkin make all sorts of cables, including a variety of ethernet network cables. This is a Cat 5 standard network cable (coloured red, but you can get it in many other colours, including black, grey, yellow, green, blue etc). One of the major problems with network cables is their tendency to snag when bent through a small radius, and because of the way the individual wires are twisted around eachother inside the cable, this can lead to network errors. The Belkin cable claims to be snagless... Read review

APC Smart-UPS 420 (SU420INET)
Review of APC Smart-UPS 420VA - UPS - 420 VA by  robj

Advantages: Performance, Problem Free, Great Reporting
Disadvantages: None as yet

...in the UPS and turn it on, then turn on your device a few minutes later. The UPS will take a while to fully charge. I support over 100 of these UPS’s all running at remote sites. Each is used to keep a file server online, and then using the Smart Serial Cable; we can monitor the UPS via that server. The software that is included is APC PowerChute, some of the UPSs we have had included PowerChute 5-node Business Edition. This software states that it is compatible with UNIX, Microsoft Windows 3.x/95/98, Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 or later, Novell NetWare 3.11 or later. The majority of these UPS’s are connected to Linux Servers, for monitoring we use apcupsd (See http://www.apcupsd.com). There is also a Webmin Module available which is useful for seeing the output of apcupsd via a web browser (See http... Read review

510M: Is it really worth it?
Review of Dell Inspiron 510M 1.5GHz by  HazKL003

Advantages: Light, Good Value for Money
Disadvantages: Relaibility Issues

...Leading a busy life can mean difficulty in balancing business with pleasure. So, when looking for a laptop, I went for something that was moderatley priced, and seemed practical for work. However, I also wanted a laptop that was portable, but also offered good entertainment performance. On the portability front, the Inspiron 510M fares well. It was not designed as a small mini-notebook, but it is far less bulky than many of its rivals. It weighs relatively little, considering the amount that is crammed inside. It fits well into most laptop bags, and is no trouble to carry around. Its performance somewhat lets the laptop down. When new, its price to performance ratio is very good. You get ample power considering the moderate price tag. The graphics card is better than most cheap laptops, and the 1.5GHz Pentium M processor... Read review

Today I'm going to quit, to patch or not.
Review of Nicotinell Nicotine Patches by  hiflyer

Advantages: 100
Disadvantages: 200

...Five years ago, I decided I was going to quit smoking. No more would I abuse my body in such a way, killing myself slowly. I proudly walked into my local chemist and asked for a packed of Nicotinell Patches. I'm sure they have changed considerable since then, but this type was a months supply, in three grades. The first was full strength, a total of 14 and lasting for two weeks. The second set, the nicotine was reduce by a third, and lasting for seven days. The third and final set of patches for the remaining week, the nicotine was again reduced by a third. And by then in theory, it should have been home free. That evening I had a warm bath and placed my first patch onto my arm, and off I went to bed. By 4am I was still awake, for some reason they were having a diverse affect on me getting to sleep. The next night... Read review

Cable internet connection for all the family
Review of Kobian 'Mercury' KOB BR100 cable router by  dobieg

Advantages: Share your cable broadband connection
Disadvantages: Requires a bit of technical skill

..., but it also drains resources from that 'sharing' PC. The solution was to invest in a Kobian 'Mercury' broadband router. The Kobian router plugs directly into the back of the cable modem (it doesn't work on ADSL cable modems) and offers up to four 10/100 megabit ethernet connections to your Local Area Network. Each PC is set to 'Obtain IP address automatically' on their ethernet interface, and with a bit of luck, and a fair wind, you can all enjoy full Internet connectivity all over the house. There's one disadvantage in all of this - you need to lay 'Category 5' network cabling, and each PC has to be fitted with an ethernet card, but as I had already established a home LAN to allow file and printer sharing, all the infrastructure was already in place. I'm a bit of a gadget freak A consequence of this is that I have more than four... Read review

FastCAT5e Networking Cable
Review of Belkin FastCAT network cable - 10 m by  kelr101

Advantages: Quick Installation, Colour co-oridinated, Fast Speeds
Disadvantages: Price Varied

...in a range of lengths, according to your requirements and colours, i.e. red, blue, black, green and yellow. For example at PC World you will be able to purchase the following FastCAT5e cables from Belkin · 25ft (7.6M) £14.99 · 14ft (4.2M) £11.99 · 3ft (0.9M) £8.99 However if you are looking to use a CAT5e cable of longer length or for external requirements I recommend you contact a dedicated cable supplier, such as Universal Networks to ensure the suitability and safety of your product. *Conclusion* For a home user the Belkin FastCAT5e fulfils all the necessary requirements. Data, voice and video are flawlessly transmitted at high speeds, and the installation process is generally very easy. The network cable is ideal for file sharing and for broadband sharing, whilst maintaining speed and reliability, and the product... Read review

If you want extra speed, then go for this
Review of Belkin patch cable - 6.1 m by  talonsco

Advantages: Good cable,
Disadvantages: Quite pricey

...Network cables are maybe not the first thing you think of when considering a network but they should be. You can have a super fast router but if your cable isnt up to it, then why bother. Belkin are the standard setters in the network cable world. If you want top quality then you buy belkin. So if your considering sharing an internet connection to play games etc then you really need decent cable. However, if like me you only share your connection for browsing and downloading, then you don't really need this kind of high quality cable. I personally have cable running that I bought for £2.14 for a 15m cable (that includes the connectors on the end). For internet browsing etc this is fine. In conclusion, if you need speed and low ping times then belkin is the way to go. You can even use the snagless cable to allow easier... Read review

***X series - Versatile & Flexible***
Review of Lenovo ThinkPad X41 Tablet 1866 - Pentium M 758 1.5 GHz - 12.1" TFT by  mightyd

Advantages: Swivel Hinge, Handwriting mode, Fingerprint Recognition, Awesome Features
Disadvantages: Expensive

...hundreds of passwords but instead you now have a fingerprint, which nobody can forge, copy, or use, unless someone somehow manages to chop your finger off. But I believe that's very unlikely! The colour is sleek and quite nice although it would be better if it was available in a silver colour. And weighing approximately 1.8 kilograms, which is less than 2 bags of sugar, you can easily say that this is extremely light and if you want to take your PC tablet away from home, you easily can with no difficulty at all. The dimensions are stated above but to get an idea, it is slightly larger than an A4 piece of paper which couldn't be more of a perfect size. *****Processor***** Processor ………………………………………………………….Intel Pentium M 758 1.5 GHz Core Voltage Technology ………………………………………………………….Low-Voltage (LV) Data Bus Speed...
