2 Years Plus…
The UPS is still going strong, very few have problems, and a warranty checker is available at http://www.apc.com if you have any problems.
The only thing that does seem to show up about the two-year mark is the battery. Many of the UPS’s we have need the battery changing in about year 2 to 3. Having said that, 2 to 3 years is not bad for battery life! I can cope with that.
New batteries from APC can be on the expensive side (Around £35+VAT), but non-APC...

Power Cable? Simple? Not With Dell!
Review of Dell Power cable by
ReviewDude
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Breaks Easy
...So you've looked at the strange title and then seen that I'm reviewing a power cable! Now your wondering how I'm going to manage at least 120 words on a power cable. Well it's going to be easy seen as it's a......Dell.... power cable.
As fans of my reviews will know( do I have fans) I recently purchased a monitor from Dell. Well along with my monitor I got a basic package to run Office on because I do a lot of downloading and hate to slow the download down.
With my computer came a Dell power cable. Ok you can't really call it a Dell power cable but they do supply it so I'l blame them...
After unpacking my computer and plugging everything in I turned on the switch and..... well nothing. I checked all the wires and everything was plugged in so yet again I turned on the switch and.... well nothing again.
After inspecting...

Belkin Power Cable
Review of Belkin Components Power cable Power 3-pole by
coopsta133
Advantages: Works perfectly, Fits Snug, Lengthy enough
Disadvantages: None
...I bought this for plugging in my computer because the power supply I had to buy did not include one. There isn't much to say on a power cable so this is about all I could think of.
My main reasons for choosing this where because I knew Belkin is a very respectable brand for when it comes to electronic connector cables and its length suited my needs perfectly.
I found that the cable fits very snugly into the back of my computer so that when it gets knocked about for some reason (kicking from mad frustration during games :) ) then it does not fall out. It is easily strong enough to hold its own weight in so it doesn't pull itself out- which is a problem one of my crappy computer monitors was having. This caused me to buy a second one for my computer monitor as I was overall 100% pleased with this one. It has never failed me causing...

WORLD'S BEST CABLE
Review of APC printer cable - 3 m by
ReviewDude
Advantages: Good Quality
Disadvantages: Over Priced, USB Now Used
...People reading this review might think I've gone mad! He's reviewing a printer cable.. I can hear you saying it now. Well as a matter of fact I have a lot to say about this small cable.
A few years ago when I purchased my Lexmark I had a cable like the one above. Unlike the newer USB cables one's like the APC are bigger and a little harder to plugin then USB cables.
My rabit decided to chew through the cable, luckly he was ok, but I had to purchase a new printer cable, enter on the scene APC.
I looked around for a new cable and found the APC printer cable for around fifteen pounds, a little overpriced but I looked on the back of the packet for more information.
The APC cable provides extra protection against data lost, power faults and any other problems you might have. It also works well with home nextworking.
I was also...

Affordable power protection for pc users
Review of APC ES Series Battery Backup ES 550 by
andydja
Advantages: Protection from the effects of unreliable mains power supply
Disadvantages: none
...Should you be unfortunate enough to live in an area where the mains power supply is prone to outages or spikes then the APC ES 550 Battery Backup solution could be for you. Ever been working merrily away at your home pc only to have the power fail or trip out bringing your pc to a crashing halt? If so then you will understand the frustration this can cause, especially if you have your office package auto save feature turned off!
Many of the power outages or fluctuations that cause annoyance or even harm are short lived and within a couple of minutes the problem has abated. This unit provides protection against such woes. The unit is rated at 550va (330 Watt) which for a typical desktop pc with 17” LCD display would provide ample runtime for both processor and screen should the mains power fail for a few minutes. My practical...

Cool machine, shame about the power cable
Review of Iomega Zip 250 MB USB Powered by
tigertom
Advantages: Portable, quick, easy to use, 250MB storage
Disadvantages: Annoying power cable!
...blue and it’s got grippy sides so you don’t drop it when playing rugby with it J
Now once you’ve set up the drive and its in use, it works fantastically creating a removable drive on your computer that you can treat like any other drive for each disc you put in. Which means you can plug in the drive and then be able to access your Zip disks for their information.
Setup
~~~~
But unfortunately getting it set-up is a bit of a pain, when you’ve finished scrabbling round the back of your computer to put in the parallel port and you’ve wiped all the spiders out of your hair. You then have to deal with the completely irritating Power cable. Which is about 3meters long and in two bits (WHY!). The first bit has the plug on it and some connector, which goes into the other cable, which has the power socket...
Protect your computer and modem from power surges, brownouts and blackouts
Review of American Power Conversion (APC) - BackUPS Pro 420 by
bobsmith
Advantages: Cleans and regulates the power to your computer
Disadvantages: Instructions can be a little hard to follow
...I decided to get this piece of equipment after having a spate of power failures and power lags over a while. Most of these were momentary, which would cause my computer to lock up, but not to switch off completely. I was sure this was not doing it any good. Others were prolonged which caused my computer to just switch off.
The BackUPS Pro protects your computer with a battery backup, so if the power fails, the battery will takeover and your computer will be shutdown safely automatically after a specified number of minutes. With a machine with quite a lot of cards, and a 3 year old 17 inch monitor, the battery will last for about 10 minutes, or up to 30 minutes if the monitor is switched off.
Your equipment is also protected from power surges by the UPS which means that if such a thing happens your equipment should be safe....
Power me right up (for a short time!)
Review of Liebert PowerSure ProActive PSA350 - UPS - 350 VA - UPS battery - Lead Acid - 7 Ah by
andycharger
Advantages: Uninterrupted power,
Disadvantages: does not rack mount, battery life poor
...Do you have servers or PCs at work? Im sure you do. However do you live in an area where power supplies can be interrupted or do you rely heavily on your PCs and servers surviving a short loss in power?
If so, you probably are aware of UPS devices. No, not the shipping company but Uninteruptable Power Supplies.
These devices act like a big battery for your servers and PCs so that when the power goes down, they keep working.
So if you need a limited amount of power for a short period of time, perhaps a couple of PCs or 1 server, you can always try the Liebert Powersure Range.
The Liebert devices are mainly standalone devices. This means they are not rack mounted revices. They sit on the floor like a traditional PC tower. In fact, they tend to look like a PC tower in design, shape and size.
To the front of the Liebert...
