Portuguese TGV- The Best Ride I've Had!

Advantages: Very cheap, Very Comfortable, Very Fast
Disadvantages: Bit too fast to take in the scenery

...get stewardesses, free use of a phone, newspapers, coffee and the children are given complimentary games. The Alfa is a tilting train and so gives a good ride??..as it were! The journey between the two cities varies from 2 hours 20 minutes to 3 hours depending on the stops. We will begin our journey in Lisbon; probably the most likely for a tourist. If you're doing it the other way, just read backwards. There are two stops in Lisbon. The first and most central, Santa Apollonia, is actually the most difficult to get to having no Metro station. The second, 10 minutes later, is Gare De Oriente which is served by the Metro. I recommend the latter. To get to Santa Apollonia you will have to catch a tram or a taxi. Tickets must be bought in advance. This can be 10 minutes before, unless it is a rush hour service; 07.00 to 09.00 or 17...

SIFNOS is CONTAGIOUS

Advantages: Variety but less developed - more relaxed
Disadvantages: Culture shock after other Cyclades amenities!

...the term Town Centre loosely, as Sifnos town is very small and more like a village than a town. At first I admit I was disappointed in Sifnos, but that was because the docks where you land are working docks, with tanker/ships unloading gravel etc and the strip of shops is a bit tacky... BUT look further and you will find the beach and other towns which are very charming. I liked the look of Stavros Hotel, but it was fully booked. The Auto rental office is next door, where you can swap your paperback for another book, FREE (shhh!) Nice bakeries where you can get a delicious cheese or spinach pie to take on the bus trip for less than one Euro: Apollonia: Great views over the hills. Interesting Churches. Let Me Guide U Thru The Purple Rain

Advantages: prince at his most dazzling, accessible and enjoyable
Disadvantages: Only 9 songs...17 Days (B-side of When Doves Cry) should have been included for a start

Apparently the owner of this cafe was an extra in the first film, and there are many photos and bits of memorabilia on display throught. Corleone - well when you love the Godfather as much as I do, you can't go to Sicily without visiting this place can you? Apparently Mario Puzo (who wrote The Godfather) chose this town as the name for his main characters with good reason - many of the "capo di tutti capi" - or "boss of all bosses" have originally come from this town - and still do. However, it is a very long drive and there's very little there to recommend it! There is absolutely no doubt that the Mafia influence here...

Vanity And Insanity..

Advantages: Prince stamps his mark in music history...
Disadvantages: Over twenty years old, this album shows its age...

...(ouch), we can experience the whole live thing straight through our speakers. One thing is for sure, this album aims to please, excite, and begs for applause. Prince wormed his way into our hearts and our record collections with this enchanting piece of theatrical performance. There is not much left out of this irrational piece of basically going wild with no sense of direction. One will either love it or hate and skip the rest of the album.. If you keep going with it, listen with an open mind. 'Take Me With You' seems to be a bit of a come down after all the excitement of this first track. A 'duet' with unknown female artist, 'Apollonia.' Prince has always been famed for using good female backing singers with good , strong voices and bringing them to the fore. The Godfather Collection 2 Masterpieces

Advantages: Two of three films are bonafide masterpieces. 21 hours of stuff.
Disadvantages: Not as pristine a collection as it could have been.

...a bit disappointing. On Location last just under 7 minutes. Production designer Dean Tavoularis revisits some of the places where the original films were shot. It's an interesting little featurette. We also see some of the documentary footage that was shot for Part 2. This material is extremely interesting and yet we don't get to see or hear too much about it. Perhaps not much of this material survives. Pity. "Francis Coppola's Notebook" offers a great deal of insight and discussion from Coppola about some of the preparation and research he did for the first Godfather. It concentrates on the scene where Michael kills Sollozzo and the police captain but also has some additional information about the murders of Apollonia and Vito.
