Ipod Photo 30Gb - plenty of room
Review of Apple iPod 30 GB by
cheekychappy05
Advantages: The name, the look, the songs and the photos!
Disadvantages: I have scratched the screen
...~#General Information#~
Now that Apple are bringing out their new nano iPod i thought to remind you of what i think is a wonderful creation, perhaps forgotten. The 30Gb memory holds about 7,500 songs. For me this is perfect, as i am an extreme music lover. I have all of my CD collection on it and a few more songs I have retrieved off friends and family.
The whole iPod experience is easy to use. I always get questions like is it hard to use and is it hard to use the software. I am definately no computer expert and i had no problems using the easy on-screen instructions to work through how to optimise your use with your new and favourite toy. And unlike most crazies it lasts for literally ever, until the battery eventually dies and you have to pay £50 for a new battery! However I am no where near this stage and had my iPod...

Apple iPod Photo 30gb
Review of Apple iPod 30 GB by
themotor
Advantages: Looks, Integration with iTunes, Capacity
Disadvantages: Easily scratched/scuffed/tarnished, battery life
...My original iPod was a 4gb Mini in silver, which I purchased in September 2004. It worked flawlessly, looked great and iTunes was (and still is) a delight to use. That was the reason why I had to upgrade; the iPod just filled up too quickly, necessitating the 30gb 'Photo' purchase. I bought it in April 2005 and at first I didn't like the styling as much as I did for the Mini. The 30gb capacity (27.9gb available to the user) is more than enough and probably more than I'd ever need. It has been supremely reliable, which is at odds with the reports you hear from others. It has even withstood a fall from 7ft, whereby the case popped open. I've decided that, based upon my needs, there is a low chance that I will replace it, unless it becomes unusable. My only gripe is, the chrome rear casing tarnished within months and the front has scratches...

APPLE IPOD 30GB BLACK
Review of Apple iPod 30 GB by
KIETIEKAT
Advantages: SMALLISH, EASY TO USE
Disadvantages: CHARGING IS A PAIN
...The Apple IPOD is the first MP3 player that I have bought. I find the actual outer body very appealing. It's pretty resilient as I dropped it while jogging and out of it's case. It has one small chip on the side but otherwise fine.
The clicker is easy to use although it took me a while to get used to it. You tend to scroll past songs/ albums or are unable to select a specific song as it keeps skipping to the next one in line. But some practice makes that better.
The actual menu layout is good. I was comparing the ipod to the Sony walkman MP3 and found the Sony a bit confusing.
An added bonus is the colour screen. When playing a song, it displays the album cover-very nice- name and song title.
The menus are arranged very well, sorting songs, artists, albums, photos.Finding a particular song is easy. Itunes is provided...

Review of Apple iPod Video (30GB) MP3 Player
Review of Apple iPod 30 GB by
scottylowe86
Advantages: A cracking design, light weigt without floating away, excellent sound, good screen, easy to use.
Disadvantages: It doesn't come with much, accessories are expensive, captive market(it costs the same wherever you look), itunes software
...I finally bought one of the Apple iPod Video in the hope of being able to carry around more than just a few CD's, and with the 30 Gig version I think I made a good choice. Over 1500 tracks on it so far and it's only at about 5 gig full.
The design, like most Apple stuff, is cool. The black version reflects light with a beautiful glint and the controls are simple yet so powerfull. They consist of one switch (Hold) which lock out inadvertent touches of the main front pad. This consists at first sight of five buttons, one central and four in a circle around the outer circle. A basic menu button allows you to move back up to the menu above your last choice. The centre button allows you to select in a sort of left mouse click style. Then the other three buttons allow your to fast forward, reverse or pause/play. Most also double up by say...

Ipod Video 30 GB
Review of Apple iPod 30GB Fifth Generation by
saalro
Advantages: Simply appealing.
Disadvantages: Rarely freeze.
...The Ipod is simple amazing, there really is no other way to describe it. Everything about this product is appealing, it looks good, feels good, makes you feel good and does everything it's said to do. It plays music and videos, holds files and has built in games for when you have nothing to do.
Compared to the older Ipods, the battery life on these are great, they go on for ages and ages.
The design is sleek and attractive and the controls are great, I can’t say how much of a great idea the touch pad navigation is (Click wheel.), very easy to use and get use to. The Ipod itself is very slim and to be honest in my opinion look like a work of art.
The image quality on these are great, very bright, colourful and sharp.
This type of Ipod comes in 30, 60 and now 80GB. 30 GB will hold shed loads roughly around 7,500 songs...

Ipod 30GB 5G
Review of Apple iPod 30GB Fifth Generation by
coopsta133
Advantages: Clear colour, sound quality high, prices dropped from old version
Disadvantages: screen scratches, exterior scratches.
...with the outer layer.
The sound quality as well is impressive. I have never heard a scratch or flicker while watching my movies. This is good because the train journey does get bumpy every once and a while so the fact it can withstand that shows it is good.
Video playback is very smooth and clear. I have personally never encountered any problem watching a video. The audio is always in line with the video.
CONTENTS
With the Ipod, you get a USB charger, a docking station adapter, a set of headphones, and some software to install on your computer (Itunes and the Drivers required). Installation was perfectly easy.
You do not get a case with it so to prevent those nasty scratches on screens buy yourself a case and a screen protector. They can be bought right off of Apple's website. I personally have the Belkin's portfolio one which...

The Apple you won't give to the teacher!

Advantages: It fits in your pocket and has excellent sound quality
Disadvantages: Add on costs
...Apple iPod Video 30GB - White
iPod - Probably the world's best known MP3 player, designed and marketed by Apple in California.
I have a white iPod Video 30GB purchased for £184.99 in Jersey. I had the advantage of purchasing the product tax free and at a slightly further reduced price, as this version of the iPod would usually retail for between £220-£250 in the U.K., dependent upon were you buy from. It looks like it would be cheaper to purchase over the Internet or direct from the Apple store.
The iPod video 30 GB holds up to 7,500 songs, which would constitute circa 700 CD albums … quite a lot!! The screen is full colour and will normally display the album cover of the selected album you are playing.
The size of the product is very sleek and slim line, measuring 10.4 x 6.1 x 1.1cm, and fitting snugly into any pocket...

Apple Ipod 20GB Photo (Ipod with Colour)
Review of Apple iPod 20 GB by
hes_quadraphonic
Advantages: Colour Screen, Sound Quality, Size, Ease Of Use, On-the-go playlsits
Disadvantages: Supplied Accesories, Supplied eaphones, Scratches Easily, Inability to delete songs from ipod without computer.
...smart and modern. It gives a whole new aspect of freshness, compared to the old Greyscale Ipods.
The menus are clearly and logically set out, and you don't find yourself stumbling around the player trying to find what you're looking for, even as a first time user. Ofcourse, the colour screen now adds a photo section to the ipods menu, enter this, and you'll find slideshow settings, a photo libaray - which displays all of your photos, and a seperate album named category, which displays images specific to that category, for example "France 2003".
Open up the photo libary, and the screen is able to display 25 thumbnails of photos, which take mere seconds to load - a clever design by apple which copies individual thumbnails, and ipod adapted size images across to minimize loading times. Clicking on a particular photo with the select key...

Video iPod 30GB - Fantastic Purchase
Review of Apple iPod 30 GB by
Maffyew
Advantages: Well designed, light, storage capacity, output quality
Disadvantages: Cost of Accessories, Ease of Scratching, Video Conversion
...-=The Device Itself=-
Specifications (according to Apple)
Dimensions: 4.1 x 2.4 x 0.43 inches
Weight: 4.8 ounces
#The size and weight of the device really are incredible, it needs to be seen (well, held) to be believed
Screen: 2.5" 320 x 240 pixel TFT display
#The screen is a good size and the display is very sharp for pictures, video and general use.
Capacity: 30GB
#On mine, 27.8GB is usable for personal storage. This is more than enough for my music, photo and video needs.
Battery life:....Debatable
#It really does vary depending on how you use it (video playback and backlight usage really is a drain), also, I believe the battery meter measures the amount of time remaining, as opposed to charge remaining, as switching from video playback to music playback can result in an increase in battery life.

Listening to an Apple a day keeps the Dr away
Review of Apple iPod 30 GB by
mrpop
Advantages: Clear Sound/Vision - Good Value For Money - Easy To Use
Disadvantages: Prone To Scratching
...to smithereens if accidentally dropped. There is a lock switch on the left at the top to stop you accidentally changing volume or switching songs once you have started listening or watching your chosen media, and the famous click wheel, which you use to navigate through the menus has changeable sensitivity so those of you with heavy hands won't go flying past the album you want to listen to!!
At 4.1 x 2.4 x 0.43 inches and 4.8 ounces (thanks goes to the Apple website for providing this information), the 30gb iPod is, I believe, the perfect size - you will never feel like you are dragging a house brick around, but also won't spend half your time patting your pockets to check that it is still there. For those of you planning to watch movies/tv shows on your iPod, the Apple website tells me that the screen is a 2.5 inch (diagonal) colour LCD...
