Apple iPod Dock Connector
Review of Apple iPod Dock Connector To USB 2.0 Data cable by
CloudRuler
Advantages: Easy to use, decent speed
Disadvantages: Not particularly reliable
...This cable comes with your iPod. It's the only way provided free with the iPod for you to recharge it. You plug it into a desktop or laptop computer and your iPod will charge via the power provided to the computer.
It seemed adequate enough when I was first using it, as long as the cable works and it's not too slow there aren't many complaints you can have unless it breaks. Clearly my luck isn't too good. The cable broke after 2-3yrs, it didn't snap so initially I wasn't sure why my iPod wouldn't recharge but which is cheaper, replacing the iPod battery or buying a new cable?
I wasn't too pleased to find out the price of a new cable so I decided to go with a cheap import from Hong Kong (not an iPod brand cable) which cost me only £2-3 and I've had no problems with it as of yet. I certainly wouldn't pay the £13-16 the iPod cable...

Apple MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo 2.5 GHz - 15.4" TFT

...situations in which the gloss is disruptive to viewing. Even in bright sunlight (in winter in France...) the screen can be viewed reasonably. 4. The installed 1GB memory can be replaced with two 2GB chips. I took one chip out and wanted to replace it with another 2GB but found they were totally incompatible but on attempting to replace the original chip tried for one hour to reinsert the old chip - it must be inserted slightly off parallel with the left side going in first and then the right - very important to know this, otherwise your computer is worth nothing! 2GB chips are not available in France presently 5. The power socket is excellent - if jerked quickly the laptop does not fall to the ground but the cable releases itself and saves computer damage. Apple seems to make some advances forward and everyone applauds but sadly no one seems...

Slick and elegant: The Apple iPod
Review of Apple iPod 20 GB by
reupen
Advantages: Slick design, large amount of storage space, good interface
Disadvantages: No recording features on the move, battery life could be better, surface will never be clean after opening, expensive
...clean again.
Also a word of warning - if you clean the back of the iPod, be careful what you clen it with. Some linted tissues can scratch it. Have said that, some people like to modify their iPod, by scratching the back to create a "brushed" effect. Its worthwhile, if you have the money to waste..
Installation
Before you connect the iPod to the computer for the first time, the manual says you should charge the iPod under Windows.
In reality, if connected by 6-pin firewire (standard for desktops, notebooks use 4-pin), the iPod will charge through the computer. However, it is probably a good idea to charge beforehand to avoid problems.
What some people find at this point is that they do not have a firewire port on their computer. I feel that it would have been appropraite for Apple to have included a USB cable also...

An Apple today keeps the hardship away
Review of Apple MacBook Core 2 Duo 2 GHz - 13.3" TFT by
matt_fletcher
Advantages: Lightning speed, intuitive workflow, simple to use, beautiful to look at.
Disadvantages: Expensive, limited compatable software, poor screen visibility.
...I have always had a certain hatred- an abhorrence, even- for Apple Inc. I saw the Apple Macs as being silly gimmicks, reserved only for those who feel the deep desire to use something flawed, purely because it's different. And maybe when I was younger and felt this way (about a year ago), that's the way it was. But now, after being forcefully led into using Apple Macs due to the nature of the graphic design degree I am about to start, I have discovered that Macs aren't PCs' horribly deformed and yet highly praised twins; I have instead concluded that they are beautiful, fast, graphically led, intuitive and essentially fun computers.
Ordering:
-------------
As I mentioned earlier, I decided on buying an Apple Macbook over a PC laptop due to them being the industry standard for the visual arts. I ordered it from the online shop...
