Apple Power Mac G4 Reveiw

Advantages: Cheap, Runs OS X, Looks nice

...Apple are the best makers of computers and OS but if like me you dont have much money then the G4 is probably the one to go for, as it has all the greatness of apple mac at a much lower price. I got my G4 off of ebay for a very reasonable price about 5-6 months ago and it was a great change from my old dell PC which was painfuly slow and overloaded. PowerMac G4, Great Value For Money

Advantages: CHEAP, good quality, OSX machine
Disadvantages: Loud-ish Hard drive, incompatibility issues, bad onboard speakers

...I am extremely impressed with my PowerMac G4 and have completely switched over from Windows to Mac. Overall my experience with this computer has been stressful but has payed off. I got the computer cheaply at £2, i bought it for the sheer hell of it hoping to scavenge parts for other computers, turns out it only needed £30 or so to turn it into a running machine, and a relatively quick one at that. 1GHz Processor and 512MB of RAM. I am impressed by its speed when running OSX Tiger 10.4 and it is quite reliable and quick. i will stop telling a story and carry on with a more in depth review. Apple Imac G4 800mhz 15" screen

Advantages: Very reliable, all in one design. Good looking. OS X superb. Display and sound excellent

At the back are 3 usb 1 ports one of which is taken by the keyboard, 2 firewire ports, 1 ethernet port, power supply port and headphone and speaker ports. There is another free usb port on the keyboard. The only other expansion is via the base which is unscrewed and 1 memory module can be inserted to bring memory up to a max of 768 mb. More memory can be added ( to go up to 1gb) but the machine must be taken apart. An airport card can be installed here also to bring wireless networking to the imac. I have installed both memory and airport card and it is a very simple and quick process. I have also used a usb card reader and a LaCie firewire hard disk with this computer without any trouble.
