The mouse takes a bit of getting used to because it does not have a left and a right clicking mechanism, but I got used to it quickly. It's sturdy and well made, which is a good thing because replacing it will cost almost £100! The users manual is a paltry 38 pages with many suggestions to visit the Apple web site if you are experiencing problems. But how can you do that if your computer isn't working? Both PC makers and Apple Mac are guilty of this glaring oversight. I long for the days when computers were sold with manuals. Apple just don't get them - this is one huge factor in my opinion of purchasing a laptop. Apple does everything Microsoft do. Ok they might be more expensive to buy but when you look at the problems you encounter with Microsoft - huge amounts of software you have to buy to stop people attacking your computer - it works out the same. My son has a Compaq laptop which has been a pain. I am sick of trying to get all the nasty software/viruses and everything else that still can get through firewalls off his laptop. Its a headache. An apple is a breeze. In my opinion, if you have an apple ipod/iphone and you love them then buy an apple computer - they are excellent and well worth the money. I think I was just phased by the fact that their computer products use a completely different operating system, in comparison to the likes of Windows which most of us are accustomed to. Have said that, some people like to modify their iPod, by scratching the back to create a "brushed" effect. Its worthwhile, if you have the money to waste.. Installation Before you connect the iPod to the computer for the first time, the manual says you should charge the iPod under Windows. In reality, if connected by 6-pin firewire (standard for desktops, notebooks use 4-pin), the iPod will charge through the computer. However, it is probably a good idea to charge beforehand to avoid problems. What some people find at this point is that they do not have a firewire port on their computer.
