...Apple are the best makers of computers and OS but if like me you dont have much money then the G4 is probably the one to go for, as it has all the greatness of apple mac at a much lower price. I got my G4 off of ebay for a very reasonable price about 5-6 months ago and it was a great change from my old dell PC which was painfuly slow and overloaded. External Issues: The G4 Quicksilver is a very sexy and nice looking tower computer although some people dont like the sliver effect i think it makes it look sleek and proffesional, also some people dont like the fact that it is finished in plastic but i think this mackes it look nice and shiny. ...The cube is the latest product from Apple. It is a G4 supper computer in a 8inch cube. There are two models, one with a G4 450, 64MB RAM and 20GB HD and one with G4 500, 128MB RAM and 30GB HD. Both have DVD, USB, Firewire, 16MB ATI Rage 128 pro and 10/100 BaseT ethernet. They also ship with the new optical mouse, new keyboard and Harmon Kardon USB speakers. This machine looks fantastic (see the apple web site for pics) it is a white cube suspended in a clear case. on the top is a slot load DVD drive and an air vent. There is no fan so it is silent (apple claim only 19 decibels). The insides are easy to acsess by flipping the machine over and lifting them out. You can install 1.5 GB of RAM (if you have £3000). ...After owning a Powerbook G4 previously, I needed a replacement - I looked around and considered buying a Sony Vaio - but ended up back with Apple and purchased the MacBook Core 2 Duo with Intel processor. I went for the smallest one of the 3 - only because it was purely for home use. I only use it for surfing the internet, downloading pictures and music so I did not need to much memory. Plus I have an external hardrive should I need to free up space. The software you get with a Mac is excellent -everything is much more 'friendly' compared to Microsoft - OK, Vista has arrived - but when you look at it Apple was doing all that years ago! Plus Apple have a new software edition called Tiger which comes out October 2007 which will knock socks off Vista. ...Like the manufacturers of cars, Apple seem to have embraced the idea of making smaller prettier computers for the female market - or is that just my opinion? Well, I've never seen a man with one of these, and the women I know who own them are first and foremost concerned with the prettiness of this little gem of a laptop. However, the iBook G4 is not all show and no substance. This is a perfect computer for the designer who hammers the life out of a computer and needs something fast and reliable. Though the battery, when fully charged, will only last around 4 hours.The operating system, OS X, is superior (and the forerunner to) to Windows, especially in that it doesn't try to do the work for you. ...I use mac computers for my work at university and since joining two years ago I have had to go and buy my own. The apple power mac G4 is as powerful as any PC and can be used in exactly the same way yet the small differences make the computer feel nicer and more personal. DESIGN Apple put alot of time and effort into making their computers look awesome and they certainly do. The apple power mac G4 as you can see by the picture looks great and definatly has an edge over a standard PC tower, the smooth curves, the light grey shimer and the apple emblem on the side make this stand out above the rest. ...Ive had an apple G4 450 for over a year now and now feel able to say that it is one of the best machines ive ever used. working in the IT industry i need to be able to depend on my machines and the i mac i had previous to it i couldnt. as soon as i bought this i knew i was on to a winner. in todays markets it still contents handsomely with its competion, even the higher spec macs now out. the main advantage that it now has is its price. currently a third of its release price, it will serve as a super quick home machine just as well as any pc would. software and compatibilty is no longer much of an issue, and they are easy to use, are built with ultimate quality, and look the part in any office or home. they are quiet, reliable as macs go, and the screens they ship with are of a quality not often seen nowadays. this is the machine to go... ...I recently used the Apple Cube for the first time, and yes, I did use with one of those huge flatscreen monitors (you know, the 22" one that costs more than the computer). For those of you who don't know, the Cube is the latest design of computer to come from Apple. Designed by the same team who designed the iMac, it's an 8-inch high cube of plastic with a box containing the CPU, etc. inside. When a company like Apple produce such a new design, the first question has to be: Why? The iMac was designed for home use. The price and configuration was aimed at the home market, and making it look as if it belonged in the living room would add to its appeal.
