...resolution is 1440 x 960 which is superb! But do you see the pattern? Everything that's great about the PowerBook is peripheral and accessory based! The guts of the machine are old hat. I doubt even the new MacBook Pro is as great as Apple claim it is. They've always been "optimistic" about their benchmark tests (remember the G5 and that court case?). Ultimately, I'm shocked at the profit Apple made from me. I doubt the machine cost more than a few hundred pounds to manufacture, yet it was priced like a top-performing product and was made with out-of-date technology. Very little was available to identlfy the processor's performance against other similar Intel and AMD based systems and I feel let down by Apple. The machine is barely used for small admin tasks which are suited to its capabilities these days. I doubt I will be purchasing Apple... Read review

...I was a little hesitant about purchasing this computer after the speculation surrounding the benchmark tests Apple had published, but when the PowerMac finally arrived I was absolutely amazed by its power. Enclosed in a beautiful all aluminium case, the machine is virtually silent (unless you're really pushing the processors and the fans are going nuts!). The machine is much taller than the G4 PowerMac it replaces and is really, really heavy. The machine has a superb array of connections including digital audio i/o and Firewire 400 & 800. The inclusion of PCI-X slots and a maximum RAM capacity of 8Gb makes this unit ideal for professionals in Audio, video and print design who are likely to need to expand there system in the future. ...Apple are the best makers of computers and OS but if like me you dont have much money then the G4 is probably the one to go for, as it has all the greatness of apple mac at a much lower price. I got my G4 off of ebay for a very reasonable price about 5-6 months ago and it was a great change from my old dell PC which was painfuly slow and overloaded. External Issues: The G4 Quicksilver is a very sexy and nice looking tower computer although some people dont like the sliver effect i think it makes it look sleek and proffesional, also some people dont like the fact that it is finished in plastic but i think this mackes it look nice and shiny. ...I have only recently acquired my PowerBook at a cut-throat price in the January sales and I am already extremely proud of the computer. This is my first-ever Macintosh PC and I can see why Apple's fans are so enthusiastic about their brand of PC. The PowerBook looks like any other silver coloured laptop externally, bar the large white apple logo on the lid which gives away it's pedigree immediately. The case is a very sleek aluminium-type metal which gives an early indication of the quality contained within. Opening the lid reveals a large 15.2" widescreen TFT, a standard laptop-size keyboard (with those strange additional Macintosh keys) in a silver colour matching the casing, speaker grilles located on both sides of the keyboard, a large silver trackpad area with a single mouse button for screen navigation. ...I have recently purchased a new Apple Macintosh G4/400, using the new Sawtooth motherboard configuration. I previously owned an old PowerMac and am VERY impressed with the new machine. It comes complete with a pretty high specification for the money (10gb/64mb/400mhz). Many PC userd will be wondering how a 400mhz processor can be anywhere near as fast as a Pentium with 900mhz+ of processing power?? Well, the Macintosh uses a completely different system, a PowerPC processor and tests can prove that these are much faster. It is fairly safe to say that Macintosh produce the fastest 'home user' computers available today. One gripe I do have is the exclusion of a floppy disk drive. ...Well you can't get very far without the power adaptor, so thought it deserved a review... The good thing about this, is it uses the same cable that connects to your PC (the firewire cable...like a standard USB cable, but much quicker) and you just plug it into the top of the adaptor, and the adaptor goes straight into the mains. Viola! It takes approx 4 hours to fully charge the iPod, however, a quick 1 hour charge will fill approx 80% of the iPods battery (100% charge = approx 8 hours playtime). Unfortunately, the cable doesn't come with the power supply, but you are supplied with one when you first purchase the iPod, but they can easily be picked up from any Apple supplier. The two prongs on the front fold away into the adaptor, so all your left with is a nice neat "box" measuring approx 1" x 2" x 2" ...and of course... Read review

...I have lived with this computer now for about 5 months. It has a G4 450 Mhz processor with 192 MB of memory (Not Standard), DVD, USb & Firewire. The cost of the computer was a bit on the steep side at around £1200, but I figured that it was worth it and I wasn't wrong. The design of the computer is revolutionary, being almost an 8" cube. There is no fan fitted to the inside of the machine and cooling is achieved by a central cooling tower and working on the principle of hot air rising drawing cooler air into the central cooling tower. All of the compnoents are packed around this area for optimum cooling. The power is supplied by an external and quite large power adaptor, but makes sense to keep this out of the computer, saving on weight, size and heat build up.
