...I have had my 12 inch powerbook G4 for about 5 months now and it is FANTASTIC. it is very attractive looking and is the best made laptop ive ever owned. It is very small and very portable, it is flawlessly engineered with a silver aluminum body and as such is very robust and very light. i bought off ebay and it came with the latest version of the mac operating system, and an upgraded 1.3 GhZ processor. It is very fast and does everything i want it to do. the screen is fantastic and crystal clear, great for watching dvd's and films on aswell as working and surfing the web. The built in speakers are very good and clear, The volume controls run along with the function keys at the top as well as volume control and the F8,9,10,11 and 12 are programmable to help speed up work and switch between windows. Apple PowerBook G4 - All looks and no muscle?

Advantages: OSX is slick, Gorgeous looks, Great Bundled Apps!
Disadvantages: Extremely Expensive, Gets Very Hot!

...On the face of it, the PB G4 is awesome. I mean that in the least "college-kid" sense. It literally inspires awe! The aluminium casing is sheek and smooth. The whole unit is a masterpiece of design. The screen is beautifully bright and the keyboard illluminates with finesse and style. Hang on, isn't it a computer? This is my point. The PowerBook looks so good, it almost diguises the fact it isn't really a very good computer. I have owned mine now for nearly a year, since November 2005. Due to the nature of what I do, a mac is necessary and I was slightly pleased to actually be getting one. Although I'd saved long and hard, I thought it a worthwhile investment to put nearly £2000 on the table. However, I haven't had value for money. Apple Power Mac G4 Reveiw

Advantages: Cheap, Runs OS X, Looks nice

I got my G4 off of ebay for a very reasonable price about 5-6 months ago and it was a great change from my old dell PC which was painfuly slow and overloaded. External Issues: The G4 Quicksilver is a very sexy and nice looking tower computer although some people dont like the sliver effect i think it makes it look sleek and proffesional, also some people dont like the fact that it is finished in plastic but i think this mackes it look nice and shiny. PowerMac G4, Great Value For Money

Advantages: CHEAP, good quality, OSX machine
Disadvantages: Loud-ish Hard drive, incompatibility issues, bad onboard speakers

Powerbook G4 1GHz

Advantages: Fast, user friendly and well made
Disadvantages: having to buy most software

...Wonderful feel, aluminium case/key board is wonderful if a little tight on fat fingered oafs like myself. Fast start-up, desktop is easy to use and well thought out. iTunes is good, iDVD far better than MS equivalent, although ripping DVD's isn't the easiest, I assume its my own fault! Had to pay extra for Apple Office software, wasn't best pleased but it works very well. Fastest laptop i have ever used when it comes to running Mathematica or Maple v.9, beats the University desktops on most, this really is a powerful machine! Upgraded memory to 512Mb when I ordered it, well worth the extra fifty quid or so. Graphics are top notch, DVD's are shown crisp and clear, speakers are better than you'd expect from a small laptop, no bass what-so-ever but reasonable midrange/treble given the limitations.
