...Well where do i start with this fantastic peace of Italian engineering. When i was 16 i used to own a scooter (50cc) which was pants by the way! so when i turned 17 i decided i wanted a 125 until i passed my driving test to drive a car. So i had a look about at a few bikes on the net and i was either going to buy a one of these chinese imports, brand new for around £1000 or buy a second hand well known make bike for about the same price. Then i seen these aprilia rs125 bikes and had herd by a lot of people that they were the fastest 125's you can get so i looked into it a bit more then decided i wanted one, not long after searching for one in my price range i found one on EBay for 2000 model for £450 i think it was but it had a few days left but i wanted to go and view the bike so my dad took me to view it with the cash just in case...

Aprilia Rs125 Pure 2 stroke Italian Stallion fun

Advantages: Handling, Looks, Engine, Performance per cc
Disadvantages: High Maintenance, Use expensive Fully Synthetic oil

...maintenance manuals out there for the vehicle which makes doing most jobs on the bike DIY able. I recently fitted a new piston and rings myself cost for parts around £100. I think the RS fast enough for a 125cc and think that it is best off left standard as it is highly strung enough as it is and best left modified only for race series's where frequent engine rebuilds arn't a problem. Depending on the year though certain parts can be fitted genuine aprilia parts to create the fastest stock RS. Thinks like decatted origianl exhaust and 34mm carb for example. I can recommend a good set of tyres i have been using the d209GP's very very sticky but i don't like to compromise on the only thing keeping me upright :). Some perfomance stats which i have done myself off road are 0-60 -6.5s 99 on a flat -Wind dependant and wider weight dependant...

Aprilia RS250

Advantages: Resonably cheap, Italian design, Fast engine, Execellant Suspension, Good aerodynamics
Disadvantages: Expensive parts, High maintenance, High fuel consumption

...I bought an Aprila RS250 for racing. Of course in the UK you can buy this as a road bike, but many find there way onto the race circuits for their superb racing characteristics. Suspension, engine, fairings in standard trim are enough to embarrass most big bikes owners on track days as I have frequently found out. Aprilia’s can be tuned and it is not that expensive (approx 70bhp for £1000), however they will become fragile. The engine is a Suzuki RGV250 motor and has the same Achilles heel with the power valves needing constant checking (esp. if racing). There have been two major releases to date, with the second being the one to go for. The earlier one had a slower engine and the forks were not up to the job. For the road, yes I would ride it as a Sunday day blast tool but that would be it and be prepared to loose your license...

Advantages: Nimble, peaky 2 stroke engine, lightweight fun for teens and adult alike
Disadvantages: Running costs, possibiltiy of 'dumping it', winter!

The servicing was done by Motorcycle city which then changed names to Riossi and ha now shut, Riossi is part of the Dixon motor group, before you buy any vehicle i would strongly suggest that you check that Dixon motor group do not own the garage / dealership etc you are planning to buy from before their customer service is useless, in fact its not that good! For the average 17 year old its a big bike; and a load of fun; its leaner legal for us starters! The Honest RS50

Advantages: The best looking 50cc around!
Disadvantages: Expensive

...I am the proud owner of an Aprilia RS50. I purchased it on my 16th b'day, and have no regrets what so ever. My friends were instantly jelous when i pulled up on it, and even more upset when i pulled off leaving them behind. The bike was 2nd hand but only had 1 previous owner, who i knew well and i knew it had been well looked after. It was restricted when i got it and it only went 37mph tops, but that soon changed. I had it de-restricted, had a full "Arrow" racing exhaust put on it, the gear ratio changed, a K & N air filter, and... wait for it... custom made clocks. After this work was done i knocked it down into 1st, and instantly felt the effect. I was scared to take it to 11000 rpm at first but when i did for all 6 gears... phew!!! I almost fell arse over head. It truely was incredible. And whats more, it went a comfy 80mph...

Rs 50 the 16 year olds dream bike

Advantages: Good mpg, Stylish , A real head turner, 80 mph de-resricted

...Hi i am writing this review from first hand experiance with this great 50cc motorbike. The Bike Itself !! The bike offers alot more than your average scooter reaching top speeds of 80 mph if derestricted which realy turns heads. The fun I have had taking over my friends on there scooters. The bike has wicked ecceleration and can quiet easily pull a wheelie at the lights or wheel spins on gravel. The syle of the bike is an exact copy of a bigger aprillia exept for the tiny exhoust pipe which I think is the only letdown on its design. The handling of the bike is exellent its all so smooth changing gear, breaking and turning. You could ride tyhe rs50 for hours and not become unconfortable as it has realy confy seat and the peddles are set up just right and can be finely adjusted.
