Aqaba - nice place to visit

Advantages: Good shopping, great beach
Disadvantages: Traffic a bit chaotic, bit of hassle if you are women on your own

...I went to Aqaba in Jordan in the month November as part of a cruise on the Thomson Celebration. It was the first destination on the itinerary and we were scheduled to spend two days docked there. We made our way in to the town to do some souvenir shopping on the first morning and found it to be a bustling area with loads of little shops where you could pick up some great bargains. The shop owners nearly all spoke great English and in one shop we were told "go and pick what you like and we'll agree on a price afterwards." This is one of the best parts of shopping in countries such as Egypt and Jordan, as you can nearly always haggle on price and get some fantastic bargains. There are loads of shops and cafes in the town and a lot them sell the same types of things - sand in glass bottles, products made from Dead Sea salts...

Top of the shops.............

Advantages: see above
Disadvantages: see above

...Advantages: Loads of stuff available, good prices Disadvantages: can get busy at christmas time so much so people abandon their shopping I am a huge Asda fan, it's where I do most of my shopping and I know where everything is which makes it easier when dragging 3 kiddies along with you! In my local Asda we have a photo centre, cafe, George, electricals, homewear, toys, bakery, pizzaria, rottisary (chicken place lol), fresh meats counter and all the usual foody aisles plus we have a petrol station, cash machines and bus stop. It's the largest shopping store we have although we do have a Tesco, Lidl, Aldi, Co-Op, Farm Foods and Iceland. I have never had a bad experience with Asda and the stock is usually replenished quite quickly! They have such a huge range that I know I can do my weekly shop and more there. Everything...

shopping heaven

Advantages: great bargains
Disadvantages: queues

...Primark is one of the greatest shops that i find that every time i go in there you can guarantee that i will come out having brought something. When you go into Primark you are guaranteed that you will always find a bargain and at the fraction of the cost of any other shops. Primark has come on in leaps and bounds over the years it stocks a greater range of items that are more in line with the fashions of today and at a great price. A few years ago i would never have even thought to go to Primark, but as they finally put one in my local town centre i always have a look for a bargain. Primark stocks everything from ladies, mens , childrens and homeware. In the ladies section you will find shoes, bags, jewellery, t shirts, lingerie, jeans, trousers, skirts, jumpers, jackets and night wear. In the mens sections you have jeans...

Shopping with Teenagers

Advantages: Sells every item of clothing possible
Disadvantages: Busy at peak times

...Clothes shopping is never an easy task when you have kids in tow. It doesn?t matter if they?re toddlers, young or teenagers, they are still a pain in the proverbial backside when you?re trying to look round the shops and I can guarantee that my teenage son will be moaning and groaning within half an hour when we go shopping. Back in the Summer we decided to brave the busy Ipswich shopping centre, the prime motive to get the kids kitted out for the new school term. After we?d paid the perfunctory visit to the school clothing department in Debenhams we set off down the street to have a wander round the shops. I was absolutely amazed then my son stopped outside Primark and suggested we had a look inside. Teenagers are renowned for wanting designer labels aren?t they? I propelled him inside quick as a flash, before he could see...

ASDA, THE ONLY TRUE ONE STOP SHOP?

Advantages: Vast Range of Products. Value For Money. Some Stunning (Non-Food) Bargains. George Clothes. Fewer "Trick" Offers.
Disadvantages: Dodgy Trolleys. Huge Check Out Queues.

...WHO ARE THEY? In the simplest of terms, ASDA is a nationwide "superstore" chain. My definition of the word "superstore" is as primarily a grocery store, with ancillary departments - clothes, electricals etc, rather like those in a department store. To fully qualify as a superstore in 2006, they will also have to retail petrol. In short a one stop shop if you like. ASDA - Associated Northern Dairies, a good old homespun north of England company yes? Well once upon a time, maybe. Now for some years part of the gigantic American Wal-Mart chain which, in the US at least, exercises colossal buying power and is able to control many sectors of the economy. As a matter of interest, in 1999 Wal-Mart paid £6.7 billion for Asda, at that time creating the world's largest retailer. In total the Wal-mart group has over 4,300 stores worldwide...

Asda - The one stop shop for almost everything!

Advantages: Fantastic range of products, so many different areas to visit, great toilet facilities, lifts.
Disadvantages: None.

...of course!). Fishmongers: There are lots of varieties of fish here (may vary from season to season) and you can choose a fish and have it prepared fresh or filleted etc. They also sell a fantastic fish pie mix which goes really well and costs under £4.00 (I find this enough for a pie for 2). Bakery Counter: Bread, rolls, cakes, biscuits etc are all produced in store fresh everyday and then sold here. In the evenings there are frequently items in the reduced section and I always pick up some bits here as I just love the products, especially the donuts. Cigarette Counter: Here you can purchase smoking materials, lottery tickets & scratchcards. You can also pay for up to 5 items of shopping at this till so if there are queues elsewhere then I'd recommend visiting this till. Customer Service Desk: Visit this desk if you want your car park...

I shop at ASDA!

Advantages: They have cheap quality items, fresh food and fabulously fashionable clothing.
Disadvantages: It is hard to find some items because the shop is so big!

...ASDA is a great place to shop, every week and every day. I shop there quite often. They have very cheap prices and I can guarantee that all of their items have proven to please me. I could recommend it to anyone who wants to buy quality items including clothes, food, DVD's, CD's ect.. at a reasonably low price. Many people go to shops such a Morrissons, Sainsbury, Tesco or even Waitrose, but I can most definatley say that ASDA is the cheapest. Even though it is said that you'd have to spend more money to get something with more quality, that isn't true with ASDA. I've searched in many shops and I cannot find something as cheap and good quality as ASDA's items! I recommend it for "anyone"!...

Charity begins at the shops

Advantages: Cheap, cheerful
Disadvantages: Home delivery limited in certain areas

...; sign is actually a Walmart one. If you go to the Walmart site you will see it there, and you will probably recognise a lot of their logos and typefaces. (Their site is at Walmart.com, funnily enough!) I’m was waiting with baited breath for a big, proper Walmart to open here in the UK but discovered in the course of researching this article that there is one in Bristol. What’s it like, does anyone know? We live very near to a nice Safeway store, but we hardly ever go there. It is just too expensive. It is much cheaper to drive to the Asda, where the week’s shopping is a LOT less than it would be in Safeway. I tried to sign up for home delivery at their website (asda.co.uk), but it isn't available in my area yet. I haven't met anyone who is able to get home delivery from Asda, so I suspect their system isn...

Guilt free shopping

Advantages: Affordable clothes and accessories
Disadvantages: Very busy, occasionally poor quality, random sizing!

...this anywhere else. I tend to buy all my plain t-shirts from Primark. At £3 a pop, it's not such a great concern if they don't last very long, nor is it a worry for fashion followers who want to keep up with the latest trends. Primark is so affordable that entire outfits can be bought for less than half the price of highstreet stores. It has challenged other places to justify their prices and, I imagine, has posed quite a threat to a number of more expensive places. THE DISADVANTAGES This may be a big shop with plenty of variety, but it has got a little too big for its boots. There are too many customers and too few staff. Queues are a massive issue in this busy department store and, whilst some things are cheap enough for people to risk them not fitting, you can be waiting for up to an hour in busy periods at the Customer Service...
