The Burj Al Arab

Advantages: Read Opp
Disadvantages: Price

...around £300.00 for the night but included all free drinks, which wasn?t a bad thing I guess. The sky bar is located on the 27th floor of the Burj Al Arab, and it has some magnificent views or the night skyline. The cocktail list was far and wide, I mean they had anything and everything, and of course you didn?t have to worry about the price, as you had already paid a hell of a lot on the ticket to get in. The bar is very futuristically shaped and set out, with shades of blue, with some techno theme. The best bit about the bar was the view, all that way up you can see just about everything, and the fireworks display they had at midnight was the best place to be, I suddenly felt a big feeling of guilt being in a place of such luxury, but then I thought why should I, I work pay my taxes, why shouldn?t I have a night or two of absolute luxury...

BSY Courses

Advantages: So many courses!
Disadvantages: You've got to motivate yourself!

...BSY offers over 250 courses for anyone to undertake at home (though some do require a final examination in a particular place). When I decided to get my life in order I looked for the cheapest and best place to do Pet Psychology and BSY won, so I rang them up and the really nice lady offered me a 2 for 1 deal and I'm now doing Holistic Animal Healing also. Now, I'm not the most motivated person in the world - bear in mind I started this in Jan 2006! Anyway, I've finally sent off my final examinations and hopefully I'll receive qualifications soon. Everything I received and needed for the course was sent through the post with envelopes to send it back once completed. I get to keep all the course materials too. I know that different courses require you to purchase your own equipment and take exams so I can only comment on the 2 above...

The Arab Touch

Advantages: Old part of Singapore
Disadvantages: Not very big

...Arab Street in Singapore isn't very big and there isn't that much to see in the area. Historically, Arab traders from Yemen and the Middle East, took up residence in this part of Singapore. Most notable from these Arab traders was Shaikh Mustafa al-Juneid who contributed considerably towards the local community. Arab Street is in an area known as the Arab Quarter. The most famous landmark here is the Sultan Mosque, on North Bridge Road, distinguished by its giant golden dome. It is one of the first mosques to be purposely built in Singapore. Around the mosque are streets with distinctive Arab names such as Baghdad Street, Muscat Street and Haji Lane. These are lined with Muslim restaurants selling Halal food and shops selling Batiks and silks, along with other handicrafts and gift items. The other distinguishing landmark...

An overview of Arab History

Advantages: Highly Informative for the layman
Disadvantages: None

...With the current discontent that we see so much of on the news these days, I have been finding myself more and more drawn to gaining an insight to the Arab mind and their rich history. "The Arabs" by Peter Mansfield is a highly informative book which very capably answered this need. The book is in two parts; the first half is a thorough but not overbearing synopsis of Arab History and the second part tells the individual story of each Arab nation. For someone like myself who has until now been fairly ignorant of the goings on in this part of the world, the book has given me a more than satisfactory insight into issues such as the ongoing tensions between Arabs and the people of Israel and the motivations behind the infmaous Iran-Iraq war. I would also recommend this book to those people that are curious about the religion...

Alpha course

Advantages: The people will be friendly and there will be a good atmosphere
Disadvantages: The program is structured so that awkward questions are not asked

...You should be aware that the Alpha Course is one mans version of what Christianity is all about, a man called Nicky Gumbell. I am a Christian myself, but would disagree with a lot of what he writes. He sees everything from a Charismatic perspective and the whole aim of the course is climaxed by a day or weekend away where perhaps some people will lay hands on you to receive what he calls the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Its important for you to know that its mainly Christians from a Charismatic church or pentecostal belief who would believe in such a thing. Most christians would say you have the holy Spirit the moment you become a Christian, and is not a "second stage" Most people who attend Alpha courses are already Christians, and a lot of very important questions just aren't covered, and its less than honest in its opinions...

Number one accountancy course

Advantages: Exam focused, gets results
Disadvantages: Expensive

...BPP offer a range of courses to help students pass various accountancy qualifications(these are CIMA, ACCA, ICAEW, AAT and various insolvency qualifications). They also offer law, marketing and Human Resources help. There are 23 centres across the UK where you can study. BPP offers a variety of different courses - subject courses and revision courses. The subject courses are around 400 pounds each and last three days. Revision course are closer to the exam date and cost around 300 pounds and also last two days. The quality of the course obviously depends to an extent on the quality of the lecturer. Although I have found (and heard) that they are very good and really know who to teach. The emphasis is very much on passing the exams, so questions and revision are on what you will be examined on. There is no reading "around...

Basic Cisco Course

Advantages: More money @ work, More Knowledge
Disadvantages: !!!!!!

...I work in the Network Security Industry & work for a company called Equant (Who provide Global Network solutions & own the largest privately owned Network in the World), & was looking for a basic level Cisco course to achieve an acreditation. The ICND course (Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices) is an ideal course to start. Although very Cisco orientated (as you could imagine), it doe sgive you a valuable basic knowledge of how the Cisco products interact with each other & other devices & networks (ie: Novell, which has recently dumped it's own IPX protocol, in favour of IP, this makes things easier as you can now deal with IP addressing & not just MAC addresses). I went on an ICND course provided by a company called Getronics, based in Milton Keynes, I am now planning to take the Cisco CCNA exam, which is the first Certification...

Excellent Course

Advantages: Qualification at end
Disadvantages: More work

...I have surrently undetaken the Cisco Certified netowking course and I would like to recomment it to any one else who may find it to be beneficail t there career. The Cisco course is very informative and if you have an interest in netwoking you may enjoy it. You wil learn all the basics in networking such as topologies and ethernet, tcp/ip etc that is very interesting. The course cost £1500 but the offer has been given to me at my college at no extra cost. At the end of the course you are given a certified netwoking qualification that may be useful in the future. The course is very intersting and I recomment it to others....

Elmwood Golf Course, near Cupar

Advantages: Easy walking, not arduous, superb catering
Disadvantages: The course has some settling to do

...This course was constructed by Elmwood College, which is the top European College for Golf Management Studies, and opened in 1997. Regrettably, I think they have to study a bit harder. To give it the benefit of the doubt, the course was originally agricultural land and still has a lot of settling in to do. You still get the feeling of walking from field to field as a lot of the original walls are still there. The surrounding countryside is open farmland with Tarvit Hill to the south and Lomond Hills to the west. It’s a lovely setting and the welcome cannot be faulted. THE COURSE It’s a par 70 (sss 68) for men and par 73 (sss72) for ladies. The course is pretty straightforward with only a few greenside bunkers (no fairway bunkers). The only real problem is the knee high rough if you are really wayward. 1...
