...Air Arabia is one of the first 'no frills' airlines to be launched in the Middle East and currently flies to over 30 destinations in the region, including some in N Africa and the sub-Continent. Their current hub is Sharjah, one of the 7 Emirates making up the United Arab Emirates. Known more for it's neightbour of Dubai, Sharjah is one of the smaller Emirates but easily accessible to all of the UAE. The launch of this airline has revolutionised cheap air travel in the region and for people coming from elsewhere, it means that it's now possible to cheaply visist a number of countries without having to pay top notch fares on airlines like Emirates, Gulf Air and Etihad. Review of Air Arabia

"Only two kinds of creatures get fun in the desert."

Advantages: A film in which you can smell, see and feel the desert - perfection.
Disadvantages: Some think it's too long - they are wrong!!

David Lean has produced so many of my favourite films and is without doubt one of our finest directors. Seven Pillars of Wisdom

Advantages: Beautiful to look at, Excellent actors
Disadvantages: Very long character driven film

...Lawrence of Arabia (1962) We begin at the end. T.E. Lawrence died in a motorcycle accident in Dorset, on 19th May 1935. He was 46 years old. The almost mundane circumstances of his death were a huge contrast to the extraordinary life he had led. The making of Lawrence of Arabia was a long and arduous journey, as were Lawrence's own experiences. It took a year and a half to shoot, and with so many remarkable and epic scenes it is understandable why. Some of the more memorable anecdotes come from Peter O'Toole, who played Lawrence. He remarked how the filming of a scene in which he talks with actor Jack Hawkins whilst descending a staircase had to be re-shot later, and so in the final film edit by the time he had reached the bottom of the staircase he was a year older than when he started. The only film ever with no women in it

Advantages: a great story line and great acting
Disadvantages: no women!

...and i would watch it again and again the plot is quite compicated so it takes about 3 hours for the film to finish. I evenknow someone who met lawrence of Arabia (as it is a real story). Unfortunately the real Lawrence of Arabia died in a motorbike accident) He was quite an arrogant man but he had a good sense of ambition and never gave up which made him such a successful man as he was. The film is shown very often and won many oscars Lawrence Olivia who played lawrence of arabia he is very good in it as he usually acts on the stage. Definately a film not to miss. Oh yeah there was a female in the film but it was a camel !!!...

Work few years here for a better life in future

Advantages: It is a great place to make money!
Disadvantages: Very hot and humid weather !

...This is my general overview of the place , where I lived for thirteen years. It is about Saudi Arabia. Ofcourse, I was fortunate enough to live with my family . First of all, to be able to go over there , you need a work visa . You cannot visit this place on a visit visa . Other middle east countries like Dubai, Abudhabi , Muscat etc, you can visit with a visit visa . Saudi Arabia is a muslim country with strict laws . All the expatriates are expected to abide by the laws of that country . People who violate the laws are put in jail and executed every friday. Saudi Arabia as such is a very grand country , comparable to U.S in all respects , except for the freedom. It’s oil wealth makes it one of the richest countries in the whole world ! Petrol is very cheap here . You will find gigantic monuments everywhere...

A True Epic

Advantages: Direction, Cinematography and Musical Score
Disadvantages: Small screen can never do true justice

.... With hindsight it explains many problems facing our world today. I have a collection of DVDs, which are personal, memorable movie moments of my life. Lawrence of Arabia is definitely one of those moments. The setting for my first viewing was a huge tent at Trecco Bay, a large caravan park, in Porthcawl, South Wales where I was on holiday with my family. The floor was bare sand, which added to the atmosphere created by the film, and I was about 11 or 13. The experience was magical and intense, without any full understanding of the artistry involved. Maturity brought the knowledge of why this was such a great film, and it has less to do with the acting out of a story and a lot to do with the creation of a visually stunning experience. It deservedly won Oscars for Direction, Cinematography and Musical Score, which are what bring this...

A totally different Culture

Advantages: Weather, People, Tax free
Disadvantages: No Booze! Womens rights, nightlife

...of no where, look onthe ground and you are guaranteed to find fossils of long vanished shell fish. Some parts you can find fossilised wood or even sharks teeth. You can also set up camp pretty much anywhere you please, and will be unmolested for your stay, and for most of the time you will not see another soul! As a kid I used to love camping trips, so much adventure, stuff you could never do in the UK. Further to the north you have the area where lawrence of arabia worked, the trains still lying on their sides. The south west Near Abha has the mountanous region, with apes and greenery. The west has the red sea, often thought to be better than Egypt, which has seen so many tourists, in Saudi this is most untaped, and un spoilt. Saudi is a fantastic country, with so much to offer the visitor from the friendly people to magnificent...

...impressions were that it was a bit of a dump but the room was really quite nice. not the Hilton mind you....but hey.. the bathroom was a bit of a dissapointment but i guess the prices i was paying which was 18 pounds a night 4 2 double rooms it was pretty amazing..lol the bell hops in the hotels are very nice they do allsorts of jobs for you , even running accross the road to buy you a freshly squeezed lemon juice (which i strongly reccomend) but the reception service is terrible......(but i have herd that is common around all hotels in saudi arabia unless they are 5 star) i also stayed in the jabal omar hotel which is a 4 star hotel which was great. the service is great and also the rooms were alot more spacey and the view was good. SHOPPING the shopping in mecca is not all that brilliant but i guess your not really there to do...

...I have not been to Saudi for almost four years now, but spent the first 12 years of my life there due to my fathers job. I hope this review helps you in your research of Saudi Arabia. There are many expats in Saudi that are working in the health sector in Saudi. I also remeber people from all over the world working at the hospital. From Sudan, Egypt, America, Phillipines, Syria, Yemen, Pakistan, India, and Sri Lanka to mention a few. A melting pot! We also used to live in a compound as many expats are. This had its advantage of security and safety, but it also but barriers up between us and the local population. One of my biggest regrets was not learning more Arabic. Within the compound we had tennis courts, badmington courts, a recreation centre, a resturant, a shop, and swimming pools. This common in all compounds...
