Arcam hits all the right notes

Advantages: Great stylish looks, wide soundstage, powerful but crisply detailed
Disadvantages: Quite an expensive amplifier

...Arcam have built a reputation founded on quality, reliability and are synonymous with producing affordable amplifiers which target those who are looking for an extremely smooth sounding component for their hi fi. This amplifier is part of a range also known as DIVA and though this might sound like a strange name with reference to a woman, it stands for digitally integrated video audio. The main advantage of this feature or so Arcam claim, is it allows them to achieve extreme low distortion levels. The exterior has a very elegant, stylish modern look and in the silver colour, will surely suit any room and become a part of the furniture. A feature I look for in any good amplifier is a direct direct button which bypasses the tone controls and allows for the shortest signal path and thankfully this amplifier has this option. There are...

DIVAS!!!

Advantages: GREAT READ
Disadvantages: NOTHING!

...Divas written by Rebecca Chance was published this year and is a great read. I have only recently read this book and i borrowed it from my local library and I can see from the inside it has been very popular! This Book is about a young beautiful woman named Evie Lopez, she started life as pole dancer and grabbed herself a sugar daddy. When she abandoned this career, she bought a swanky penthouse in the luxury Manhattan. Evie is a mistress to a young girl Lola's father and when her father falls into a coma and her stepmother controls everything. The stepmother 'Carin' eventually evicts Evie and steals her diamonds. Lola and Evie have to team up even though they are enemies to defeat Carin! This is a book of laughter and sadness. Rebecca Chance is such a brilliant writer she leaves you in suspense and I just wanted to read...

Review of Divas - Rebecca Chance

Diva-licious!

Advantages: Fun read, escapist read, well written, enjoyable
Disadvantages: None

...Lola Fitzgerald has a pretty charmed life. She has every designer piece of clothing she wants, holidays on tap and homes around the world courtesy of her rather rich father. But Lola's world is thrown into disarray when her father falls into a coma and Lola's stepmother Carin cuts off all of her funds immediately. Her situation gets worse when Lola discovers the existance of her father's mistress Evie Lopez, and her fiance is thrown into rehab for drug addiction. Lola wants back what is rightfully hers but she is forced to team up with Evie to catch Carin out and get her out of her life once and for all. "Divas" is the debut novel for Rebecca Chance, and she follows the line of great "bonkbuster" authors such as the Bagshawe sisters Louise and Tilly, Lulu Taylor, Jo Carnegie and Olivia Darling who have all embraced the gritty side...

Divas Las Vegas - Belinda Jones

Advantages: An OK read
Disadvantages: Dissappointing!!

... DIVAS LAS VEGAS BELINDA JONES I have always loved Belinda Jones books, and I have read near enough all of her books: I Love Capri, On The road to Mr Right, The Paradise Room, Out of the Blue, The Love Acadamy, Cafe Tropicana and now Divas Las Vega. The only book of hers I have left to read is The California Club (and the new book which she has coming out soon). I'm not quite sure where Divas Las Vegas comes in the line of her books, it could very possibly be one of, if not, her first book. I loved all of Jones' previous books, they have all been amazing, and have really captured my imagination, this book was very different and I must say, it isn't the best of her work. Plot: Izzy and Jamie have been best friends since they were little girls, for 20 years. And now at 27 they are still as close as ever...

Viva La Diva

Advantages: some classic pop songs
Disadvantages: a couple of songs haven't dated brilliantly

...The Eurythmics were one of the most innovative and distinctive bands of the 1980's , producing hits like 'Sweet Dreams' and 'There Must Be An Angel Playing With My Heart' amongst their 9 Top 10 hits. Along with her partner Dave Stewart, Annie Lennox became one of British pop's most recognisable symbols of the 1980's with her ever changing hair and dress sense as well as one of the most respected vocalists of her generation. After Stewart married Bananarama and Shakespear's Sister star Siobhan Fahey, the Eurythmics split and Annie went about recording her first solo studio album. Three years later in 1992, she emerged with 'Diva', a collection of personal and raw songs rather than the synth-driven anthems that people had previously associated her with. Polished, but not over-produced, the album won her numerous awards including...

The Diva Mentality

Advantages: A star studded experience
Disadvantages: Patti Labelle's infernal racket

...The VH1 Divas is hailed as one of the biggest musical concerts of the year and is advertised on television, radio and the internet for months before its transmission. Broadcast live in America and a few days later on Sky television here in the UK the event raises money for charities across the US, and this year its good cause was to bring music back to schools, a subject close to the heart of many of the performers appearing in the show. We were lucky enough to win tickets for the musical extravaganza this year and were flown over to Vegas by VH1 for five days with the concert being part of our wonderful few days away. Tickets were selling like hotcakes via the net and ranged in price from $75 to $150 so we counted ourselves lucky that we had the top priced ones clutched in our sweaty little hands on the night of the performance...

YOU-RHYTHMIC DIVA

Advantages: Nice easy listening
Disadvantages: A couple of weak links/not enough tracks

...daughter. The result was the release of her first solo album ?Diva?, which has received critical acclaim the world over. The album reached No. 1 in the UK album charts and deservedly stayed there for well over a year. So, the album itself includes:- WHY 4:54 ?How many times do I have to try to tell you That I?m sorry for the things I?ve done? This is a lovely soft soulful yearning love song. Somehow the messages contained in the lyrics remind me of the book ?Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus?. Simply because my perception of this song is that it?s all about how communication between men and women, more often than not lovers, is misunderstood and misconstrued. The instrumental reminds me of waterfalls, which is quite fitting because tears are mentioned! 9/10 WALKING ON BROKEN GLASS 4:13 ?Now every one of us was...

Review of Diva - Annie Lennox

Definately a sensible midrange buy.

Advantages: Build, sound, upgrades and price.
Disadvantages: The 73T is now available.

...--PRICE-- £450 at the full retail price, but I've seen them significantly lower. --STYLE-- There are mixed opinions on this one, but I personaly love the style of the DIVA range. They're available in either an expensive looking silver or black finsh, (silver shown above) the black models maintaining the little buttons in silver. Noteworthy is the style of the CD draw. Most Machines have a slight lip or edging to the draw, so that when it shuts, it completely seals the entrance to inside the player. In Arcam's Diva range however, when the draw is shut, there's a small gap around the edge of it which allows you to see into the machine. I know some people who dont like this, but I think it looks smart. --BUILD-- This machine is extremly well built. It feels rock solid and compact, being made from metal I imagine it's as durable as...

Arcam CD82 Compa -what!? What a mouthful!

Advantages: Slender design
Disadvantages: Kind of expensive/ Not upgradable like some Arcam products

...The silver slender looking Arcam CD82 Compact Disc Player is a mid-range CD player that has been designed and built to act as the ideal half-way point between the CD72 and CD92 in the Diva range. My brother has owned one for a fair while now and the CD82 is an extremely capable CD player. The box to the CD player informs us that state of the art audiophile design techniques are incorporated. Apparently, these are commonly found on players which would normally cost consumers thousands of pounds to purchase. The helpful instruction manual that comes with it informs us that the CD player utilizes very high quality Burr Brown op-amps in the output stage. Included is a high-stability Class 1 crystal oscillator in the DAC module. The player also utilizes two 24-bit 192 kHz Wolfson DACs, which is in a dual-mode configuration. One...

I'm a eager beaver when I'm running for my Diva

Advantages: resourceful,glossy,cheap
Disadvantages: its monthly.

...Way a DIVAn?t kna like! I?ve been buying this magazine for 3 years now. (well my girlfriend has). I first came across it when I was left in her flat alone for the first time. Now I shouldn?t really admit to this, but I was snooping ?as you do?, I was in the middle of my snoop when I came across this magazine. Imagine my delight, when on the front cover I saw the most beautiful looking woman my eyes had ever come across. That was it, my hunt for any juicy items in my girlfriends flat had stopped, and there was I engrossed in a magazine. Now this is my magazine of choice, each month I pop into WH Smiths and buy it. 2.25 into the till, and with a funny look from the woman behind the counter I skip-no run out of the shop with a grin on my face. Why so excited?..I hear you say. Well my friends, Diva is a magazine edited by...
