...The Isles of Lewis and Harris in the Outer Hebrides are amongst the remotest of all British outposts and subsequently do not receive the vast number of tourists that they would undoubtedly do if they were more accessible. These islands not only boast the most magnificent beaches in the whole of Northern Europe they are also packed full of hundreds of little curiosities, some of which could be easily missed but turn out to be real little gems. The Whale Bone Arch at Bragar was marked as a tourist attraction on my map and since it was just down the road from where I was staying I decided to check it out. I was however somewhat surprised therefore to discover that this attraction is actually in someone's back garden. Travel to the top of The Gateway Arch Mork-style - in an egg.

Advantages: Elegant architectural icon. Magnificent vies and photographic opportunity.
Disadvantages: Lenghy queues. Only partially accessible for disable visitors.

Arch Enemy - Doomsday Machine

Advantages: Fantstic guitars , great vocals , everything fits together
Disadvantages: some songs are repetive , too long and out of place

...Here we have one of the most successful Swedish death metal bands, shown here on the verge of their mainstream metal breakthrough. Personally doomsday machine is my favourite arch enemy album, it gets the balance right between power and creativity and doesn't bore the listener. Some of the riffs on this album are fantastic and very original, the solos are very good, and the first time I heard the vocals I could not believe such a sound could come from a woman! Needless to say I was very impressed with this album, after listening to wages of sin, and anthems of rebellion, doomsday machine is quite clearly the peak of Arch Enemy's stand out sound. It's not The Arches fault, they are just too busy...

Advantages: If the dish is available, then you won't be disappointed. Hats off to the kitchen!
Disadvantages: Staff & managers are supposed to make guests feel special, not like an inconvenience.

...mention of a cocktail would have them running around looking for bottles etc. As an ex-bartender with ten years management experience as well, I know it should not take 15 minutes to make a cocktail. All-in-all, The Arches is a Glasgow institution which everyone raves about but, in my opinion, it is "all fur coat and no knickers."...

...Me and my husband stayed at Marriott Marble Arch Hotel for our Wedding Anniversary,(Bonfire Night) we stayed from 4th - 6th November 2006 as i wanted to go on the London Eye this year as i thought we would get a good view of the fire works. The hotel is of a very high standard and is kept well maintained, although we felt it was expensive for where it is situated compared to other hotels. The bedrooms are very tastefully decorated and are quite roomy compared to other hotels. It had a queen size bed which is about the size of a double bed plus half again, the mattress was soft and comfortable (which i like) no good if you like a firm one and the pillows were large and fluffy, it is the best bed i have slept in i had a thoroughly good night sleep. ...Ok, if you're into clubbing you MUST try InsideOut at The Arches in Glasgow. This occurs on the last Saturday of every month and what a wonderful night it is. Infact, it is classed as the BEST clubbing night in Glasgow. One of the highlights, ofcourse, is the actual layout of the 'club'. It is a under Glasgow Central Station's Railway Bridge and there are 3 main arches which are occupied with different top class DJs. You hear the music change as you enter each arch and the atmosphere is truly sensational. The only setback is the condensation and 'mud' your feet will end up covered in - so dont wear strappy sandals!!...

Lots of choice at the Arches

Advantages: Always hosting different nights to cater for underground tastes.
Disadvantages: In a bit of a dodgy area, only one bar, not cheap, no draught beers.

...The Arches is located down a little backstreet in sheffield, and yet sometimes hosts some of the best nights in the city. Since corporation has decided to move, it has temporarily been held in the Arches. This means twice a week rock fans a get a good dose of some heavy music. As well as rock music the Arches holds nights like headcharge, for the cyber kids amongst you into hard house. Several punk bands have played here and the venue is pretty versatile when it comes to the types of music being hosted there. The club is located in a not too nice area of the city centre called the Wicker and it can be a little dangerous at night. A friend of mine was beaten up for being a rocker down there on his way back from the corporation held night there. The venue has the strangest layout.
