The Archos 605 provides a worthy alternative to the I-pod video, although it suffers from a less ergonomic design and is heavier due in part to the hard drive. However where it does better the ipod is it's durability with a rugged case and strong solid build quality feel to the buttons it will be hard to break. The large screen makes viewing a pleasure and the battery is capable, in my experience, of at least 5 hours solid video playback but i am yet to meet the claim of 17 hours music playback advertised with the unit averaging about 13-15 hours without recharge. Advantages: Great screen quality and size, built in speaker and stand.
Disadvantages: The only downside is that it is fragile, and can be hard to get used to the on screen keyboard.

Jukebox - Cat Power

Advantages: Smooth,sexy, husky vocals whisper breathing new life into old classics.Has a live concert feel.
Disadvantages: I hate cover albums but I LOVE this one.Reserve your judgement.

Jukebox, released in 2008 came with a sigh of relief from fans who had been waiting 8 years for the artist to re-immerge with something else to add to the collections. I dont think they were dissapointed. As a rule I dislike cover albums but this one is just as good as her old The Covers Record (2000) and really shows off her maturity and experience in the field. I like her ode to memphis blues The Greatist but this really gives us something fresh to tackle and in terms of listenability it is much fatter and more diverse making it 10 times more playable than The Greatest. ...There have been so much hype and talk about the Creative Labs NOMAD jukebox lately that other companies have started to produce their own versions. This is yet another hard drive based MP3 player. The market for these things are growing as we speak, yet the number of devices available is very few. This has a 6gb capacity which is enough for about 100 or so Cds. So here we will compare some points of the creative jukebox with the Archos jukebox. Appearance the device looks smart it has a slimmer more compact look then the creative, it is also 2 oz lighter. The Archos is more pocket sized bt you still need pretty big pockets. The battery life is double that of the Creative using the same number of batterys (4, which are rechargeable). The Archos 705 WIFI Media Player

Advantages: Touch screen, large memory, great screen resolution, wireless internet.
Disadvantages: Maximum volume could be better through the in-built speakers

...The Archos 705 WIFI is probably one of my favourite purchases of the last 18 months. For its fantastically wide range of features including a touch screen, wireless internet, hard drive video storage (recordings can be made directly from a tv), photo storage and a great music library, this is the best value for money Multi-media player I have come across. The Archos comes with lots of accessories including a car headrest mounting case which is great for when your trying to entertain the kids in the back of the car on long journeys. Its memory is around 40gb which is quite large for its size and allows you to store thousands of songs and around many hours of videos. The resolution is also extremely impressive....
