...I stayed in Mendoza for 4 nights, and enjoyed my time there. One of the main things I noticed was the low price level - especially if you are travelling from the UK. This is a huge advantage that Argentina has at the moment, and it means that you can get by very comfortably on £20/day. There are 3 main reasons that I can see to visit Mendoza: food (especially steak), wine and as a gateway to the Andes. The steaks are absolutely superb, as well as being great value for money - you won't find a better or cheaper chunk of beef anywhere in the world. Mendoza is also famous for its many wineries, and you can easily cycle round a few of them as a day trip (if you are energetic), taking advantage of free samples... The Strand Palace Hotel

Advantages: Central location, clean

...We stayed at this hotel in London a little over a month ago now for two nights, we chose this hotel mainly because of the central location and because it was only a ten minuite walk from the show we had booked to go too. Check in was very quick - About ten minuites and the staff at the reception seemed very friendly. My first thoughts on the hotel was that it looked really clean and that it was nicely decorated and it looked modern. I was a little dissapointed with our room as it was very small and basic, our room had a double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a tv with satellite and a small, basic en suite bathroom with a shower. The views from our room very very poor - A block of offices which made our room dark as they were so close. The hotel has two bars and two resturaunts, the bars were again nicely decorated...

Hotel International

...I recently went on a cultural girlie trip with a friend to Paris. I was left to do all the booking. I was looking for a reasonable hotel, near a metro stop, which included breakfast. I came across the Hotel International on various travel sites and it seemed fairly highly rated so I booked us in for three nights. LOCATION: The hotel is located 6 Rue Auguste Barbier in the 11th Arrondissement. The nearest Metro stop is Garcourt which was a two minute walk away and it was a five minute walk to Republique which gives good links to other lines. It's not really central enough to avoid the Metro and walk to the attractions but it was located so close to a stop that it seemed ideal. PRICE: Prices vary depending on size of room and season. There are singles, doubles and triples available. We paid Euro254 for the whole time...

Argentina has everything

Advantages: Cheap, incredibly varied
Disadvantages: Need to travel around to get the best out of it

...At the moment, Argentina is an incredibly cheap place to visit, but even at US/European prices it would be worth going. It really does have every kind of feature you could ask for, and though you might have to travel around a bit to take advantage of this, that's a small price to pay. I visited Beunos Aires, Mendoza and Las Lenas, staying 3 weeks altogether, and was filled with good impressions. Argentinian people are very friendly and approachable, and the lone traveller will have no problems meeting people, especially in hostels. As an English-speaker though, I would warn others that you won't be able to rely on English as you would in Europe - basic Spanish is a bare minimum to enjoy an Argentinian trip. If you can speak only English, you won't have a lot of choice in where you go. In a (ski) resort like Las Lenas you'll be...

...When we decided to make a return trip to Benalmedina we opted to go to the four star Hotel Las Arenas as it was recommended by friends. It is slightly further out just opposite the Castle Bill Bill and when you cross the road it?s a flat walk all the way to the marina which is away from the large hills on which many of the other hotels are located. Reception On arrival check in was swift and at this time we opted to pay for a safety deposit box we were then handed the safe key and card key to room 524 and pointed in the direction of the lifts. On looking round reception it was laid out with tables and chairs and also had a grand piano, a small bar ,toilets and computers with internet access. There is a large board telling you about entertainment available during the day and at night. The whole area was laid out for wheelchair access...

Ski?

Advantages: Great skiing trails!
Disadvantages: Not for the olds!

...Valle de las Leñas means valley of the wood. But don't worry it doesn't mean that there are no good trails! It?s an important Argentinean ski resort that owns 60 km of trails that are for ski and it's about 2250 and 3430 mt over the sea level. Besides, it has a good portion of surface to practice ski away from the trails. from Europe it's easy to get there from a scheduled flight to Buenos Aires and from the same airport, Ezeiza, to Malargue (Las Leñas) or San Rafael(province of Mendoza), but this are not very often so the best thing is to change airport and go to the Jorge Newbery airport instead. It would take 45 minutes in a coach or bus, so I think that Buenos Aires worth a day there and then from Newbery airport to Malargue airport on a charter flight (no worries! they belong to the main airline!) it would take an hour...
