Admirable Argos

Advantages: Good range of products, mostly good prices, special offers, can order online, excellent guarantees
Disadvantages: Queues can be long at busy periods, some prices can be beaten elsewhere, can be confusing for people who haven't been there before

...I have been a big fan of argos for many years and am lucky enough to have an argos store right across the road and the website at my fingertips 24/7. I have ordered a wide range of products from argos.co.uk and have used a lot of the services offered - from the online reserve feature - to the delivery service. Products ordered from argos - have ranged from televisions to vaccum cleaners all the way to batteries. The delivery service is fantastic - you get to chose when you want the product delivered - the product s in my experience are always delivered on time and by a more than friendly delivery team. The argos help system is also very helpful - when i rang to change a delivery date - they were very helpful and immediately gave me a new delivery time and date. Argos - the shopping experience

Advantages: wide range of products, convenience, speed of service, shop from home

.... Quick pay machines A relatively new invention from Argos, they were introduced store wide last year and are absolutely fantastic if they are working. Basically you enter your catalogue number or reservation. This then shows you the item and asks you to enter the quantity. Once all numbers are entered, it will take you to the payment screen, where it will ask you to confirm the item(s), and insert your card. These have to be inserted in a particular way into the chip and pin machine. (There is a diagram to assist). The machine will then produce 2 receipts, which will give you an order number, collection point and estimated time. Both slips need to be taken to the collection counter, the sales assistant will ask for both copies and the card on which you paid. Don't shop for it! Argos it!!

...I have shopped at Argos since I can remember. I remember going in with my mum and dad when I was a kid. But even back then, the queue were diabolical!! Even now, you go into the store, Try to find a parking space, wait ages to get to a catalogue, and then find your items out of stock. Then You get stuck in a mile long queue to pay. Once you pay, you then have to wait for your item. Now they think they are clever with their new waiting system. But they are NOT! You have to sit and wait for your number to be called. But how many times have you been called up, and your item isn't even ready. Either that or everyone else gets theirs, and your still sitting there!! ...I would just like to share my own experiences of Argos, a shop that took my business earlier on this afternoon. I was looking for a storage item for my enormous collection of PC games, so went in to my local Argos store in order to look for it. I went to the catalogue, took a look in the index - and found nothing, or so I thought until I got home. As I had more time, decided to look in the Argos catalogue that we had at home. And on closer inspection, they actually had what I was looking for. The supposed main index in exactly the same catalogue that was in the shop was at the front of the book, I never thought of looking more towards the back. Therefore, only the basics were shown in the front of it - people just like me don't think to look elsewhere! So I took a note of the catalgue number; went back on in to town...

...I can remember going to Argos when I was really young with family members, at Christmas time and when mum and dad where buying new things for the house. It's one of the few shops that I remember from a very early age and find myself shopping in today and will continue to do so in the future. ...Argos in my opinion is amongst the best of the best when it comes to satisfying customer's, the staff are always pleasant and courteous, even when you have a cause to complain. The product range throughout their catalogue is pretty much second to none, You can buy almost anything through their chain. I've personally used Argos for at least 15 years and have never had a reason to be put off and change my loyalty to some other shop, they really are great. If you visit one of the Super Store branches you can usually test out most of their advertised furnishing, and often the majority of large electrical and mechanical items. The only draw back here is the limited amount of outlets with Super Store status. Even if you purchase blindly, so long as the goods are clean and undamaged Argos will give you a refund instantly.
