...The Arlington Hotel is situated in the heart of Dublin, just off O?Connell Street, and across the river from the Temple Bar area of the city. The entrance hall and adjoining Knightsbridge Bar are decorated like something out of a medieval movie, complete with a faux set of armour. While the entrance and reception are always well lit, the bar is quite dark even during the day. According to the hotel?s website, it boasts 131 rooms, ranging from double rooms to twin and even triplet rooms. On my last visit, we stayed in a twin room. It was lovely and spacious, and there was a TV, en suite bathroom and a kettle (complete with tea and coffee). We had a good view across the River Liffy. ...The Arlington hotel is in the centre of Dublin nest to the river Liffey. I went with my husband and 7 other friends- which ended up with us requiring 3 double rooms 1 twin room and one single- we booked online and took up their offer of the winter madness (this meant by going Monday to Wednesday we would have free breakfast both mornings and one free evening meal for ?99 per person per night) this was available for us all except for the one who booked a single room and had to pay for his meal. Booking for this many people online we were a bit worried that there would be a lot of problems (it's not the same talking to someone on the phone) and when we arrived sure enough only 2 double rooms had been booked but the hotel reception staff were very efficient in getting us another room that would be ready the same time as the others. It's filled to the rim with hard core, high octane tension and suspense-so much that it is almost hard to catch your breath throughout the movie's running period. Fueled with first rate performances and a script that is understandable and clear, this may be one of the best thrillers. ...Arlington Hotel, Ilfracombe Devon. I am afraid I have had quite a poor experience dealing with this hotel. Booked a room with a sea view months in advance with an online booking agent. Received confirmation and map through the post pretty quickly from the hotel. On day of arrival found that hotel car park was full and could only see double yellow lines on narrow adjacent roads, there was no sign on the first car park to indicate that the hotel had an overflow car park which was also almost full except for two spaces with tight access (had to go into hotel reception to be told about the second car park). Parked the car and went to book in, only to find out that they had made an error, had been put in a room with no sea view. The receptionist was polite and said the hotel would allow our dog to stay for free, but obviously...

Avoid Arlington

Advantages: Solid thriller with good performances
Disadvantages: Average transfer to dvd, awful disc

...Arlington Road is not a bad movie. Honestly there is a lot worse out there. But there are also many other movies which outperform this one. But then that is just my opnion. Jeff Bridges and Tim Robbins both put in good performances as neighbours in the same street. The plot is somewhat original - teasers and promotional material asking the punter if they really know their neighbour. Several twists and turns do keep the viewer guessing - but to the brutally honest I wasn't that involved in the film to worry too much about whether or not I had realised what was going to happen. A little bit run of the mill all round I feel. The picture quality is not bad, although a grainy feel to some of the darker sequences, for example when the two couples have dinner together, it is distinctly noticeable. Cheaper dvd players will not have...

A beautiful and relaxing day out

Advantages: Fabulous Court and grounds
Disadvantages: Pricey if not a NT member

...I sometimes get a little complacent about where I live. The North Devon area is beautiful, and in its heart is the tucked away Arlington Court. A 10-15 minute drive from the nearby towns of Ilfracombe and Barnstaple, it nestles in the valley of the river Yeo. It is a National Trust property, and so it does cost to enter the grounds, unless you are a member of the National Trust. If not, entrance is £8.20 per adult, and I think £4 for a child over 5. Under 5s enter for free. This Bank Holiday weekend, the Sunday saw not a cloud in the sky, and my wife and I headed over there with our 5 year old son and our National Trust membership for a relaxing free day out. Parking was easy, with plenty of space in a gravelled car park opposite the entrance to the property. Cross the road to walk down the path, 100 yards or so, surrounded by trees...

...his failure to be friendly towards them, Faraday sets about building bridges with the pleasant couple. But his rather suspicious nature very quickly starts to pick up on things. The neighbour, Oliver Lang (Tim Robbins) claims that he is working on a project in a local shopping mall, but Faraday believes that the plans on his table look more like those of an office building. Is it just the case that Faraday is starting to become obsessed or is there a genuinely dark side to his neighbour? For some reason, I had it in my mind that Arlington Road was one of those strange David Lynch dramas that would make absolutely no sense from start to finish. Another must see in Washington

...Another stop on my tour of Washington DC beckons! This time it is the turn of Arlington National Cemetery. This is America's national cemetery for military personnel and I think it is another one of those places which is a must see for anyone visiting DC. GETTING THERE: The cemetery is based just outside DC itself, on the other side of the Potomac River. There is plenty of public transportation which goes there, including the metro (get off at Arlington National Cemetery - I know - logical for America!!). There is also a car park, which seemed to have plenty of parking. The parking costs $1.75 for the first 3 hours and $2 per hour after that which is reasonable when you think of how much parking costs over here. We left our car in the car park and then picked up a tour for the rest of DC from the cemetery which is a good idea...

Soon He uncovers a secret about his neighbours past and some deeper digging can't prepare Michael for the real truth and how it will afect his life and those around him. Arlington Road has some very good twists in it's tale throughout and it also helps that the situation is believable to a degree. Some people might not buy into the fact that terrosirsts would come in the shape of a normal family on an american suburban street. But then again it's the perfect cover for such operations. Bridges character at one stage makes a good point about the people who are blamed for some terrorist acts. He makes the point that having someone to blame takes away some of the pain and anger. This made me think of the almost immediate pointing of the finger at Bin Laden after the true life events occured. I'm not...
