ATS - Exhaustingly Good

Advantages: Fast Service, Courteous Service
Disadvantages: Garages will differ around the UK

...**Please note the following ATS-Euromaster review is based around the service and products received from the ATS Garage in Newbury, Berkshire.** *Personal Background* Earlier on this week I noticed my exhaust was producing a rather unique sounding boy racer noise, complete with a slight rattling of my exhaust box, so decided immediate action was required as I was due in Cardiff the following day. I decided to take my Citroen Saxo (51 reg.) to the local Kick Fit dealers as they had always provided a reputable service in the past, however after an initial free inspection they advised me that I required 3 new parts for my exhaust, an Intermediate Pipe, an Intermediate Silencer Box and a Rear Silencer Box. However after consulting their catalogue of parts I was told the intermediate parts I needed were not obtainable from their...

THE BLACK ARROW: A TALE OF TUNSTALL FOREST

Advantages: You may gain insight into a turbulent time in English History - the War of the Roses (white and red)
Disadvantages: It is not always easy to unravel who is on which side at which time; sentences can be long and complicated.

...I have always delighted in some authors' ability to take a period in history and illuminate it, just a bit, for the poor unsuspecting reader intent on a quick action thriller to while away an hour or two at a time. Robert Lewis Stevenson, like Charles Dickens, initially wrote many of his stories for weekly consumption as a serial (money was the driving force behind such). Perhaps the modern day equivalent would be weekly episodes of television programmes ~ but the book (or the weekly magazine) has the advantage of being subject to the reader, to be read at his leisure, at a time of the reader's own choosing ~ and not pushed at you by a producer's prime-time scheduling ~ competing with dinner, homework and family time. When serialised for "Young Folks" magazine in 17 weekly instalments in 1883, the title was "The Black Arrow...

Poison arrows...an "angelic" read!

Advantages: Gives a new perspective on heaven!
Disadvantages: Had to end.

...A while ago my younger sister had a book clearout, knowing my love of reading she ?donated? them to my ongoing book club that I run through my workplace, hence the review. The book I will now review is - ?Poison Arrows by Morag Prunty? This is a shock book to me. I only picked this book up to read as it was on the top of the pile and my daughter was asleep and I didn?t want to disturb her?.. Not really a reason is it! But by god (excuse the pun), I?m glad I did! I will try to do a general overview, there is rather a varied storyline happening so bear with me! Christian is a cupid, this means he is a messenger of God and aids in the ?pairing? of suitable couples on earth, he is by design also gay, something that makes for some great lines from fellow cupids further on in the book, especially from a cupid called Mayday who has...

Arrows: Light at the end of the Tunnel

Advantages: Reasonably good driver pairings.Increased funding
Disadvantages: Still not the richest team around.

...The British-based Arrows team have had a lengthy period in the doldrums since they were a poorly funded team and despite producing attractive race cars they were not deemed competitive. They were regularly expected to be among the back markers with the likes of the Minardi team.Even getting a point would be considered an achievement. It is now beginning to look as though there is light at the end of the tunnel for the hugely popular Oxfordshire-based outfit. Funding has been secured from several sources and recently the Arrows got a very good fifth place at the Canadian grand prix. Jos Verstappen driving a very good race to collect two valuable points. Their other driver Pedro De La Rosa looks to have a good future and these two drivers as a pair are good enough to win more points, providing the team can increase their reliability...

Susuki GSXR-750. The Hooligans weapon of choice!!!

Advantages: Speed, handling, reliability, snarly exhaust note.
Disadvantages: Maybe not quite as stylish looking as some other bikes.

...Susuki GSXR-750. The Hooligans weapon of choice!!! Previous to buying my Gixxer 750 three years ago I owned a 2001 Kawasaki Ninja 600. I ended up having no end of expensive problems with the Kawasaki and in the end I part-exchanged the bike for a brand new Suzuki GSXR-750 K5 model. I bought my bike as the new model was coming out so I got a hefty discount on it. You can pick one of these up for about £4000 now. Which is good considering that they are known for their bomb-proof engines so you shouldn?t get any problems. Just be careful as they are a bit of a track day goers favourite so might have been trashed around race tracks. ~~~~~~~ The Look ~~~~~~~ I bought one of the less popular colour schemes, yellow and black. I actually really like this colour. It looks good with my black windshield. A bonus is that you will see a lot...

Short Live Susuki

Advantages: Fair deals
Disadvantages: Many including carefree staff

...EDITED*EDITED*EDITED*EDITED Susuki today are becoming more and more wide spread but less known. We alaways remember thosestylish 4x4's with the bulky tyres which many of us loved. However. Go to a dealer now and they also specialize in cars. THIS IS A WARNING TO ALL THE YOUNG AND VERY NICE PEOPLE OUT THERE LOOKING FOR A NEW CAR! If you know me well here at Ciao, you'd know that I am crazy for taking new cars out on the road known as a testdrive. BUT WAIT. Thats not the case here. I was simply on my way to a friends when I walked past and noticed a used car they were selling dead cheap. It was a Ford Fiesta, S-reg for £4,995. It looked like a bargain so I walked over and started to take a look. Though. by the way! They do sell approved and used cars, but I think thats a good thing, so thats one good hand to...

Ebley tyres and exhaust

Advantages: cheap and great service
Disadvantages: none

...Having had the exhaust on the car go and tying it up with string as you do, we had to go and get a new one. We telephoned around and you would not believe the difference in price. We were limited as to how far we could drive with it tied up so could not go to a large town and had to make do with Cirencester and a choice of three places. At Kwik fit we were quoted at "just over £100" and at ATS they said it will be £110 plus £15 if the manifold bolts and springs are hard to get off - now you can buy these in places like Halfords for £6.00. Then we telephoned the cheapest which was Ebley. They said £75.00. On arrival there we found that they had to send for it from their other branch and this would take an hour. But, if we wanted to have a look around the town they would drive us there and pick us up. Now that is service. Also...

Diamond review  Tyred? Exhausted? Avoid Kwik Fit! *UPDATED*

Advantages: Brake parts insured for life of car
Disadvantages: Very poor workmanship

...a couple of negative reports, they seem to have cleaned up their image. I was greeted at the reception desk by a mechanic, complete with his trademark blue "Kwik Fit" overalls. After explaining the noise, he informed me of the Kwik Fit Brake Check. "It's a complete check of your breaking system, and the cost of the service will be deducted from any work that needs doing." I was also presented with a leaflet explaining all that had just been said. It sounded alright, so I left my car with them. The reception area and visible workshop were very clean, and well equiped to cope with any of the services that they offer. The branch I went to also sell and fit tyres, exhausts, and shock absorbers. About an hour later, I got the dreaded phone call... "Hi it's **** from Kwik Fit. I've got some bad news I'm afraid - the noise you were hearing...

White Arrow misses the bullseye

Advantages: They have some?
Disadvantages: Their ability to deliver, poor customer service, very unreliable due to subcontract delivery system

...*** SOME USEFUL BACKGROUND INFORMATION *** White Arrow is a courier service which was founded by GUS the catalogue retailer in 1949 and being going downhill ever since as you'll find out in this review. They now subcontract the services of local delivery men in most major towns and cities. Usually its a one man company who drives around one particular area and therefore reliability is variable. Whenever you have a problem with one driver, White Arrow will simply assign an alternative driver. I remember the days where you used to see their blue vans drive around with the big white arrow on the side. Nowadays, it could simply be a white Astramax or Ford van. The company now have re-invented themselves and now call themselves Reality Group Limited. Believe me, their service is very limited and that's a reality. Their customer...

suzuki jimni 1.3 JLX

Advantages: Easy to park , smooth , comfortable , air conditioning
Disadvantages: boot too small

...The Suzuki Jimny I'm going to review is the 1.3 JLX What a fantastic little vehicle the suzuki jimni is. My family have had a few 4x4s all of different makes but there isn't one that compares to this little wonder on wheels. As we live in a remote area with a steep hill to climb in winter this is the only vehicle to get us home and dry.Others we have had to abandon and walk home on more than one ocasion. During a day out to a sheepdog trials on a wet summers evening where the ground was extremely muddy. 4 x 4s were getting stuck one after the other. The only one which was sailing by was my dad in his suzuki. Some of the owners of the great big expensive 4 x 4s used to snigger at this little box - they soon stopped laughing when they were the one's walking up the field. *Appearance * A compact little vehicle in a two...
