Diamond review  Let's Take A Stroll Down Oxford Street

Advantages: Lots and lots of shops - you'll be entertained all day long
Disadvantages: Very very crowded, smelly, noisy and full of annoying tourists

...explore the whole of Oxford Street from one end to the other, as it is situated at what I like to call 'the starting point'. The Oxford Circus stop on the other hand, is right bang in the middle of Oxford Street and the stop I personally prefer, as I know the shops I like are nearby, i.e. Top Shop, Miss Selfridges, H&Ms etc. Bond Street is the posh stop. If you're hoping to bump into a top celeb, you're most likely to if you get off here and take a slow meander down Bond Street, home to some of the world's top fashion designers. You?ve probably seen the pictures of Posh 'n' Becks doing their weekly Gucci shop down Bond Street. I've personally yet to bump into them, but if you camp outside one of the shops for long enough, you might well be lucky. Marble Arch is the last stop on Oxford Street, where the shops are slightly more spread...

Review of Oxford Street (London)

Shop till you Drop

Advantages: Good choice of stores
Disadvantages: Busy

...Oxford Street is a must for all shopaholics. Situated in Central London and adjoining Regent Street it truely is a shoppers dream and an all round great shopping experience. It is always very busy and full of hustle and bustle. I regularly shop here because I love the ambience of the place. There are a huge range of shops from large department stores (my favourite is Selfridges) to smaller specialist shops and street traders. There is plenty to see and my advice is to take a whole day there, that way you won't miss anything. Should hunger get the better of you there are numerous eateries from popular fast food restaurants to bars, cafes and more typical English restaurants. You never have too far to go. Access is by bus or tube, the area is served by the central line either at Oxford Circus or Bond Street. Don't drive there...

Dirty, Smelly, Crowded and Great Shopping

Advantages: Easy to get to, lots and lots of shops
Disadvantages: Dirty, Smelly, Noisy & Can get very crowded

...Oxford street is smelly, dirty and crowded. It is also a great place to shop. One of the best things about shopping on oxford street is that most of the bigger shops eg: Dorothy Perkins have several branches along the length of oxford street so if they don't have what you want in one shop you can pop down to another, or get someone to phone around the other shops for you. Oxford street has all the high street stores as well as numerous independents which are mostly between Totenham court road and Regent Street and several department stores (inc. Selfridges, John Lewis, and Debenhams) between Marble Arch and Oxford Circus. There is also the Plaza Shopping Center which is mid way between oxford circus and Totenham court road, it's not very big but has a food court with about 7 different fast food outlets; it also has the only WH...

Holiday Inn Near Oxford Steet London

Advantages: Close to Oxford Street for all your shopping needs!
Disadvantages: Expensive, really small reception and bar area

...I have stayed in many Holiday Inns around the UK, and this has to be one of the smallest. However, what it lacked in grandeur it gained in location. Situated in Marylebone just 5 minutes walk away from Oxford Street for all your shopping needs!. Also just 5 minutes walk from the nearest underground being Bond Street, Oxford Circus station is a 10 minute walk, this is obviously handy as there is no parking at the hotel. My main reason and attraction for staying in this hotel was a 2 nights for the price of 1 offer that Priority points were offering. If you have never heard of this, it is a scheme offerered by the Holiday Inn Group which allows you to gain points for staying at Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza and Intercontinental Hotel Group. Not just in the Uk either but around the world. Once you have...

Review of Holiday Inn Garden Court London - Oxford Circus, London

Shopping shopping shopping

Advantages: Great range of shops
Disadvantages: Very crowded especially on weekends

...If you are a complete shopaholic like me then you probably look far and wide to find the best places with the widest variety of shops you are looking for. Well if you haven't found that place yet then I'll bet you have yet to visit Oxford Street. Oxford Street is situated in central London and is the heart of shopping in this big city. Right the way down this long street is various shops on both sides. Shops include 2 HMVs, Waterstones, Virgin Megastore, Top Shop (which is the largest fashion store in the world), Debenhams, Nike Town, Selfridges, Marks & Spencer and a great deal more. If you're after London souvenirs then there are also many little souvenir shops that sell anything from postcards to badges to magnets to T-shirts. You are almost certain to find what you want. You have to enjoy walking a lot to enjoy and take advantage...

LONDON'S CALLING

Advantages: Pleasent stay, good food, central location
Disadvantages: Views from room

...have the Mall and St James park and Buckingham palace ? all within a few minutes. A little further on passed the Haymarket and you find more theatres in Piccadilly (a little further on for Oxford Street). The hotel has several bars and restaurants on site, along with a gift shop, and left luggage position. Disabled access: We booked a disabled room though our room was in my opinion a standard one. It had no grab rails, though was big enough to manoeuvre a wheelchair around. Access to the hotel by wheelchair is done by a side street (Exeter road) where there is a home made style ramp covering part of two large steps. However, once up the steps you are in a difficult position again, there are two sets of NON automatic doors to contend with. Luckily I had my other half to help me; otherwise a stay in this hotel might not have been...

Carnaby Street

Advantages: Different shops, unique, less crowded than Oxford St, near oxford circus tube, easy to get to
Disadvantages: None

...This review is way out of date, Carnaby Street has changed a lot over the past few yrs. Ignore it. Introduction ~~ Carnaby Street, well it was once the place to go in the 60's and 70's but now it's a bit less well-known. Which I think is rather good as it is less-crowded than Oxford St, Covent Garden, Regent St, etc. Location ~~ Carnaby Street could not be in a better location. It is just 3 or 4 minutes from Oxford Circus. tube station and is also within easy reach of Marlborough St and is no more than a 15 minutes walk from anywhere in Soho. Shops ~~ The shops in Carnaby St. vary quite a lot from trendy fashion shops to the old cheap and tacky tourist shops. My favourite particular shop on Carnaby St. is the Mambo shop. If you haven't heard of Mambo they are a Australian surf/skate brand. Well I did mention cheap...

Rich for the star!!

Advantages: Very comfortable environment lots of blends to choose from
Disadvantages: the price

...Starbucks - Oxford Street - LONDON UK CIAO Review - 21-08-08 Titled ' Rich for the star' - The coffee culture has created a frenzy amongst normally sane people who would of got up earlier and made themselves a coffee at home. Instead we troll through heavy morning traffic. Stumble in to Starbucks and ask for a hourly fix latte before going to work. Yep, the coffee culture has taken a grip and it is our wallets and purses that really need the fix. Oxford Street is no different to any other caffeine source fixes across all towns and cities.. There people escalator system works well and I can't complain.. and you would if you could if your like me.. while waiting for your morning infusion. I do laugh, when I see business executives twitching at the coffee bar waiting for his extra hot latte with an extra shot. The queues can get...

Streets of London, absolutely the best restaurant on the coast

Advantages: Great food, great prices, fantastic atmosphere, friendly staff, family welcome
Disadvantages: I can't have the chef at home :(

...Having lived on the Costa Del Sol myself I have visited my fair share of restaurants from Sotogrande to Malaga. I have to say that the streets is the best restaurant I have dined in to date. The food is absolutely mouth watering, the customer service is fantastic even down to the fact that the owner brought down his little boy who played with my children during our stay. He sat and had a conversation with us about all sorts and was generally very friendly. I do admit to drinking a little more Sangria than I should and even living in Spain it's harder than you think to get Sangria freshly made and not out of a tap-not here! Freshly made with fresh ingredients right before your eyes. The value for money in unbelievable, we fed our family of five with three course meals for 70 euros. I did not begrudge him a penny of it because...

Review of Streets of London, La Cala de Mijas

Join The Crowd

Advantages: Some good shops all in one place
Disadvantages: You have to be very cautious

...I'm very proud of my parents today. They finally let their 'little girl' make a trip to London on the train with her friends. That's right, no parental supervision, shock horror! After making our quick stop off at Covent Garden, somewhere I am fairly familiar with, my friend suggested that we next make our way to Oxford Street. So off we went back on the tube and came out at Oxford Circus, right in the centre of Oxford Street. Howver, Oxford Street is made of many parts including 'Tottenham Court Road', 'Regent Street', 'Oxford Circus', 'Bond Street' and 'Marble Arch'. With Oxford Circus being so central, this is where the very mainstream highstreet shops are, such as 'Topshop', 'Miss Selfridge', 'Boots', 'J-D Sports' and 'HMV'. There also a shop called 'Zara' which, by the way, just happens to be my name too! Ahem... anyway...
