...As May is officially designated Mild Month in CAMRA (CAMpaign for Real Ale) circles, as a dedicated member I am spending the month sampling new Mild ales (and also revisiting old ones). For this reason I found myself trying a Mild I hadn?t had in a while, during a trip to the Plough Inn at Radford (near Nottingham). This Mild was Rock Mild, brewed by Nottingham Brewery. ~~~THE BREWERY. Nottingham Brewery was set up in October 2001 by Niven Balfour and Phil Darby. His look, and evil smile, makes him the perfect villain. However, one must at the same time feel sorry and compassionate towards Harris. My Thoughts: I loved the Rock, as it had everything one would expect from a action film, its fast paced, has a great story, a great cast, and a solid structure. Rock and roll for the masses

Advantages: Great actors and characters, enjoyable, great music

There are a host of well known British actors in the starring roles and all are excellent, but the one actor that stands out for me is the token American - The Count, played by Philip Seymour Hoffman. He is a superb actor, one that never disappoints, and he most certainly doesn't here. In many ways, he is the leader of the pack, the most committed and the most revered, and Seymour Hoffman puts his heart and soul into the role as ever. We find out very little about his background, which is a shame, but considering the number of characters in the film, that isn't suprising. Bill Nighy also stars as Quentin, the manager of the team. Rock band Rocks!

Advantages: Brilliant fun, great music
Disadvantages: Maybe too expensive for target audience

...The Rock, situated on Cherry Hinton Road in Cambridge is not the first place you'd expect a hairy-arsed Scotsman to adopt as his local. Either I've got a poor sense of direction or this must one helluva pub. Or, far more likely, I was working in Cambridge and staying just a couple of hundred metres along the road. You can't miss The Rock. Maybe it's the standard English 'roadhouse-style' building, perhaps it's the pale yellow wash of the exterior walls, or even the banners proclaiming 'good food' and 'live music' which catch the eye. No matter, it's there in all it's magnificence with a sign saying 'The Rock'. What a giveaway. The pub is most definitely split in two. The bar is sport themed, in particular football.
