Lovely hotel for a christmas break

Advantages: Quiet location, Beautiful rooms, friendly staff, personal service
Disadvantages: Food and Drink is expensive compared to room rates

...For the past 5 or 6 years my family and i have gone away for christmas as a treat. This stops all the age old arguments about washing up and allows us all to spend some real quality time together and relax. Christmas 2006 - location is the Royal Berkshire Ramada Hotel in Ascot. We'd never really considered a hotel in this area before - had always assumed it would be too expensive but this actually worked out cheaper than the previous year on room rate with us paying £250pp for 3 nights DBB. The only extra expense being drinks which seemed quite expensive. The hotel looks like a old country mansion with quite extensive grounds which are great for a walk after too big a christmas lunch! ...Tigi Bedhead Uptight heat activated curl maker,i got my new curling tongs which i did not have much joy with, so i got this product as i needed my hair to curl for Royal Ascot and it worked a treat with the ringlets that i wanted with the help from the tongs as uptight made them stay in place which was great. Its a Heat activated curl maker, great for blow drying hair with a round brush for smooth curls which activates the curl. It has a ultra hold that won't weigh you down and does not make you hair stcky and look greasy, it leave a nice shiny finish. Whats more its smell like all the great Tigi products it a fruity flavour. To use apply on damp hair and add your favourite tigi hair styling product then let the heat do the rest. ...of George Bernard Shaws PYGMALION. I am sure you all know the Story of how a Language Expert PROFESSOR HIGGINS takes on the Cockney ELISA DOOLITTLE and teaches her to TALK PROPPER. All i can say that this was not an AMATEUR effort, it turned into a superb evening. This was almost solely down to Sarah who was playing Elisa, from her first SCREECH to her last line she was SUPERB in the part. Her whole essence was thrown into the part of the Cockney Flowerseller, and the audience were transported on a journey of delight as she produced Elisa through from a Howling chicken to the final polished LADY. Sarah gave us all full measure as she wrestled with her growing feelings for Professor Higgins. Of course she hit all the laughter lines spot on, with that famous ASCOT Scene as she cheers her horse on with "MOVE YOUR ARSE". I...

...of Christopher as a straight classical actor but he proved adept at the singing and showed good empathy to Amy's Eliza The professor's mother was played by Hannah Gordon with just the right amount of acidity and although it is not a very large role in terms of singing or speaking it is an important part of the musical. His mother keeping him very firmly in place and taking Eliza to her heart. Eliza's father - Alfred P Doolittle was played by Dennis Waterman in London and I was interested to see how Russ Abbot would compare in this role. He was certainly as funny if not funnier and his singing was as good but his dancing was a bit less energetic. Marvellous Marriott

Advantages: Beautiful rooms, nice location, excellent staff.

...Even though I live in York, a friend who moved away booked several rooms for us over the last race meeting for her Hen Party, so I had a fantastic time living it up here! The Marriott in York is located on Tadcaster Road and is on the very edge of the Knavesmire Racecourse, so during the racing season it gets very very busy. It has 151 rooms, since having a large extension built to accomodate extra vistors for Ascot last year. Room prices vary, but we paid £139 per room for one night, this included breakfast. There is some parking at the front of the hotel but plenty at the back. It is also set in lovely gardens, has 2 tennis courts, and beauty salon (fantastic massages!) and a leisure club with swimming pool and gym. We took full advantage of the swimming pool and the beauty salon. You pay for your treatments here, swimming...
