Downmarket Asda
Review of Asda (Shop) by enturi

Advantages: Cheap prices
Disadvantages: Poor range of products

...I have been shopping at Asda for years and i have noticed a number of changes which makes Asda seem more downmarket than the other main supermarkets, first is the introduction of "smart price" which replaced the farmstores brand, the problem with smartprice is that it has a most digusting look, it screams out CHEAP! also to look down the narrow isles (which are also a pain when its busy) to see an ocean of blandness does not really make you want to shop at Asda, also i dislike it when they are constantly packing the shelves, i know they have to do it sometime but to do it at the busiest times is just annoying, its a great pain when you have to jump around the huge packing trolleys to get the product you need. Asda have also been getting rid of some of the brand name items like "fridge milkshake" for example, are all the products... Read review

Asda Price?
Review of Asda [TV Advertisement] by jonyee

Advantages: Good cheap food
Disadvantages: Not much selection

...Asda hit the headlines last year when they announced that they would be taken over by US giant WalMart. This was declared as a victory for the consumer as WalMart’s is renowned for aggressive pricing policies. So where do Asda find themselves now, many months down the line? Anyone who shops in Asda will notice that the prices do appear to be much lower than the likes of Sainsburys. There is also a significant proportion of shop floor space dedicated to non food items such as Asda’s clothing label George. Where prices have fallen, so has customer service. Although the staff are generally helpful and friendly, the store seems poorly understaffed, forcing those who work there to work extra hard, while the customers struggle to find assistance when it is needed. Apart from this, Asda appears to be winning the price war... Read review

Asda
Review of Asda (Shop) by MISSTSANGEL

Advantages: things work out cheap
Disadvantages: not a store near me

...I sometines go to Asda because i think there "asda farm store" range is a good buy , the best thing i think about the "Asda farm store" range is the cleaning stuff it works out so cheap to buy than it does with other ranges , i also find it work well, and smells good, i alway end up buying the full range of cleaning stuff when i go there , Asda offers you complete satisfaction or your money back but so far i have not needed to put this to the test as i have alway been happy with my buys, the "Asda farm store" range is very good from meat to pet food to cleaning stuff, it always works out far cheaper to buy my stuff at Asda and i would use the store more if there was one near to me so if you live near to a Asda store i would use it if i was you.. you lucky thing!... Cheap and Nasty
Review of Asda (Shop) by earningstuff

Advantages: cheap durable goods
Disadvantages: dreadful perishable goods!

...I used to shop in Asda back in my old home town and was more than happy with the quality and the price. This ASDA store was a large store and offered good offers regularly! Then I moved to university and then got a job away from home! I continued to shop in ASDA as it was my nearest supermarket (not including Co-op). I am not suggesting that ASDA sold me spoiled food but I was extremely ill on two occasions when all I had had to eat on those days was ASDA food. This may just be coincidence but when you consider that ASDA food seems to spoil much faster than food from other supermarkets. Two examples of this include the fact that ASDA prepared salad spoiled within a day of opening and two days before its best before date. Secodnly ASDA bakery rolls have also gone mouldy very quickly! I know people have jumped on th bandwagon... Read review

Working for Asda
Review of Asda (Shop) by BeckyBour

Advantages: Good Deals, Good Company to work for.
Disadvantages: None.

...I have just started to work for Asda and from what I can see it is a very good store to work for! They have many benefits such as maternity, Pernity, they even have a grandparents leave, also they let people with children just starting school have the morning or afternoon off to take their child to his/her first day of school which is very nice. Benidorm leave for the 50's and over, they give you many chances to earn achievement badges, the training is very good and is told to you indepth so if you are not sure you can always ask. Asda is a very friendly store and most colleuges get on very well, Asda does not stand for any bullying of any sort so if you experience this you must let your manager know. Asda is very proud of it's produce we try and keep it to the best of our ablity, as from October in store if there is any... Read review

Average value - cheap reductions
Review of Asda (Shop) by goodematthew

Advantages: Cheap reductions.
Disadvantages: Prices aren't always the lowest.

...I don't go to ASDA all that often. I stopped a year ago because a cheaper upermarket, Morrisons, opened a superstore nearby. ASDA's prices in my opinion are not as low as they could be. There is a wide selection of goods, but they are at average or below average prices. I generally find ASDA stores to be untidy. They have a lot of their products stacked up high and the general look down the store is of a warehouse more than a supermarket. I have to say the staff are quite friendly. It is a bit of a manufactured smile though, shown chiefly through the badges; 'Happy to Help'! When ASDA reduce bread and similar goods when it is near its expiry date, they do knock quite a lot off the price. Anyway, in my opinion ASDA is just an average supermarket - nothing special really.... Read review

Bags More Food For Your Money
Review of Asda (Shop) by No1Tester

Advantages: you can buy all basic items here
Disadvantages: not enough stores nationwide

...During the years before Asda, we lived at near starvation level. I salivated uncontrollably whenever I saw food displayed. I always felt hungry, and disappointed when I shopped because 3 bags of food spent my whole weekly budget. Then I discovered Asda. My first impression was that Asda looked cheap- that Asda lacked the ambience of the modern Sainbury. But after going there about 3 times, I realised by carefuklly spending the same amount of money- about £40, this nearly fills the shopping trolley! I've shopped there weekly for the past 6 years, saving hundreds of pounds, not just a few pennies each week... I like Asda own brands- the packaging is not too basic. Asda decaff coffee is nice, Asda teabags are so good I honestly wont travel anywhere without a good supply. Asda Logic washing powder is much cheaper than well advertised brands... Read review

Asda, Be the best!!!
Review of Asda (Shop) by kimberley1986

Advantages: Great prices, good quality
Disadvantages: not much

...I absolutly love this store! For the best part of 3 years we lived in Germany and the thing we were looking forward to when we moved back to the UK was going shopping at Asda! The first thing we noticed was how much cheaper it was in Asda than most other superstores around the country. Between Asda and Sinsbury's, Asda is the cheapest and better priced by far! The range of food in the store is fab, the range of Asda own food is: Smart Price: Cheap and cheerful and taste's just like the exspensive brand names. Asda named: very reasonably priced, taste's like the exspensive items. Extra Special: For the reasonable priced more luxury Asda own. Asda Great Stuff: Great for the kids. The variety of food, drinks, cleaning products, clothes, entertainment, electricals pet care etc in the store's are great. I spend about 1 hour and 30... Read review

Super store
Review of Asda (Shop) by kerry2000

Advantages: It big and suitable for any one
Disadvantages: can get lost easy

...Near by where i live a new Asda Walmart superstore has just opened. i like the new super store. It is very big. The Asda still looks like other asdas like the bags, the signs hanging from the ceiling is still the same. this new asda is found in havant. Havant is in Hampshire. It is very easy to get to. The asda walmart super store open on 31-10-00. The are many good offers including those on one of the new departments "the photo shop" where you can get your photos developed for £2.88 for two sets as an into price. The staff that work there are friendly and helpful. With this big asda it is very hard to find where every thing is, but staff are very helpful which makes it easier. Asdas products is for any one of any age including young children because they have a toy department and now they have a new baby department.... Read review

Farm Stores Crisp Rice Cereal
Review of Asda (Shop) by Alexmouse

Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Tastes revolting

...As for ‘crisp’ rice – what a load of rubbish! I understand that the Asda Farm Stores range is meant to be more basic and cheaper than the other Asda own brand foods. But this breakfast cereal is going a bit too far. It tastes nothing like rice crispies and in actual fact tastes rather stale. It also has a very strange effect of making the milk go soapy and bubbly – very odd! I will not be purchasing it in the future. I haven’t tried the Asda normal own brand crisp rice but hope that it would taste better than this one does!... Read review
