Asda, Be the best!!!
Review of Asda (Shop) by  kimberley1986

Advantages: Great prices, good quality
Disadvantages: not much

...I absolutly love this store! For the best part of 3 years we lived in Germany and the thing we were looking forward to when we moved back to the UK was going shopping at Asda! The first thing we noticed was how much cheaper it was in Asda than most other superstores around the country. Between Asda and Sinsbury's, Asda is the cheapest and better priced by far! The range of food in the store is fab, the range of Asda own food is: Smart Price: Cheap and cheerful and taste's just like the exspensive brand names. Asda named: very reasonably priced, taste's like the exspensive items. Extra Special: For the reasonable priced more luxury Asda own. Asda Great Stuff: Great for the kids. The variety of food, drinks, cleaning products, clothes, entertainment, electricals pet care etc in the store's are great. I spend about 1 hour and 30... Read review

Asda price (dun- dun)!
Review of Asda (Shop) by  amyfamestar

Advantages: Good value for money on most items including clothing
Disadvantages: It is sometimes hard to find nice fruit & veg

...has a simple but well-thought out menu. The food from the cafe tends to be nothing speacial but it's handy if you want to grab a quick lunch while out doing the weekly shop. Food- Overall Asda's OWN food is very good value for money. They have 3 brands of their own being: 1. SmartPrice 2. Asda Brand 3. Extra Special SmartPrice being the cheapest and lowest quality and Extra Special being the dearest and highest quality. Asda stock a wide range of brands of food, toiletries and cleaning products and are usually the cheapest prices you can find of them (compared to other supermarkets). Asda have a butchers, fishmonger and bakery in the store so you can purchase meat/fish and bread/cakes that hasn't already being packaged and so tends to be fresher. there are many offeres on all the time in Asda's most are either: 1. Buy 1 get 1 free 2... Read review

open all hours
Review of Asda (Shop) by  nictastic

Advantages: wide variety and low prices
Disadvantages: overcrowded and busy sometimes

..., they try not to compromise quality and offer them at very very low prices, very affordable if you don’t have much to spend that week! Next comes the ASDA range, just simply products that you would expect to find, but made by ASDA at very affordable prices! However they spend a bit more time and effort on packaging. The Extra special range is a choice of products that have extra special ingredients, if you wanted to really treat yourself for example, they are all very rich and have the finest ingredients, of course you can expect to pay more, but the variety is very good! The ASDA Good for you range, is a choice of alternative products with lower fat content and better ingredients, such as no colours or preservatives, if you are on a diet, these are good alternatives to all those foods you probably shouldn’t be eating! You will also find... Read review

UPDATED Thats ASDA price Do Do
Review of Asda (Shop) by  brianlfc

Advantages: Wide range of products, their own produce is of very good quality, clean, rairly cheap, etc
Disadvantages: None really

...and my girlfriend were shopping there, and we picked up a “Chew-bone” for her dog (no, not me, her pet dog) and we were mistakenly charged for two, luckily my girl noticed this on the receipt (you know what girls are like), well anyway, she took it to the till and told the girl, not only was she given the £2.00 back for the extra bone (that we never had), we were also given £2.00 in Asda vouchers for our trouble, how nice of them. Oh and another cool thing about the Asda, the majority of their stores are mostly open 24 hours a day, very useful if you are a night-owl like me. Summary: So, overall, I think you’ll find the Asda is up there, if not out on its own in virtually every department, their overall prices and special offers are hard to beat, their own brands are superb value and of unbeatable quality, the stores... Something for everyone
Review of Asda (Shop) by  becks286

Advantages: Proximity/ wide range/ variety
Disadvantages: Bit of a squeeze at the weekends

...children. I was soon rushing to swap my basket for a trolley. The food is well laid out in asda and it is easy to find things if your in a rush. The wide variety of brands allows something for everyone. Ranging from the economy, smart price range to the extra special range (not differing much from Marks and Spencers ranges) to the named brands. All are very reasonably priced and still just as delicious as food from anywhere else. The take away counters prove great when you cant be bothered to cook, as asda have done that bit for you! How great is that! Dont want to cook the chicken on sunday, asda have pre-cooked chicken with pre cooked roast potatoes and stuffing balls. The alcohol in asda's is always good to look at as there are often good deals on the cans of lager and the bottles of wine. So take a peek. Ever seen a computer game you... Read review

POSH LEMONS FOR A CURD CONNOISSEUR
Review of Asda Extra Special Lemon Curd by  Tickly

Advantages: Strong lemon flavour
Disadvantages: quite runny

...for 411g Asda (own label), 51p for 411g Gales, 74p for 410g Asda extra special, £1.08 for 300g Duchy organic, £2.24 for 300g As you can see, the prices vary considerably and I was surprised at the lack of branded lemon curd on offer, not a lot of competition for Asda is it! Having tried Asda's own label previously and thinking it very average (but not unpleasant), and my usual brand being Gales - I decided to treat myself to the Asda Extra Special Lemon Curd at £1.08. To look at it's visually appealling with it's bright eyecatching black and yellow packaging. A black screw lid on a see through glass jar. The label is quite classy and shows one and a half lemons against a black background. The distinctive Extra Special label to the side of the text. On the label it sounds very appetising indeed and I quote "thick, smooth, creamy lemon... Read review

Too much Swearing and not enough BOGOFS!
Review of Asda (Shop) by  mi_ke

Advantages: big and spacious, low prices
Disadvantages: part of the WalMart family

...more. Asda also sell TVs and HiFi's, as well as DVD players and vcr's. You can buy sports stuff and even Bikes. ~Ranges~ Asda has many ranges of products, as do other stores. Good for You is a range for people on a diet, or who are simply watching their figure. This contains ready meals, dry foods, puddings, pizzas, soups, frozen foods, drinks and meats. The range is a copy of Sainsbury's Be Good To Yourself. Extra special is similar to Tesco Finest, and is meant to be a collection of, well, er, extra special food. I have tasted a few products from this range and so far, have been quite impressed with it. SmartPrice replaced Farmfoods a couple of years ago, and the quality, unlike the prices, is'nt that great. Things like light fittings and cusions have been impressive, but it's a shame I couldnt say the same thing about the food... Read review

It Asda be Tesco for me
Review of Asda (Shop) by  sandrabarber

Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Variable Quality

...enough. A lot of them were very fatty, which is something I've not encountered in fillet steak before. CHILLED FOODS: I bought some ready-prepared Tandoori Chicken Massala and Aloo Gobi Saag which had been recommended to me. The TCMs were on special offer at three for a fiver (normal price for 3 would be 5.97). They were superb, if rather mean with the chicken. I also bought some fresh mashed potato, which tasted totally synthetic and as though it was made of rotting spuds. BREAD: I bought some Asda baked crusty bread, which was delicious, and an Asda sliced loaf which I threw in the bin after one bite. It was horrible. CLEANING & LAUNDRY: I decided to try Asda's own colour washing liquitabs and have found them just as good as those made by Tesco and Sainsbury. I also bought some Asda 'wild berry' bath mousse which bought my bath... Read review

Good quality and well priced
Review of Asda (Shop) by  anguk

Advantages: excellent range, price, customer service
Disadvantages: no creche in my store any more

...I have been shopping at Asda now for many years and although I do visit other supermarkets too this is where I get my main weekly shop. The quality and range of goods is excellent. I mostly buy Asda's own range products as the price and quality is good. They also have a basic no frills range called Farmstores, this range is quite extensive compared to lots of other supermarkets budget range. I have found the staff at Asda to be friendly and helpful, our store even has a greeter at the door to wish you a good morning and give any help if needed. During busy times extra staff are put on the checkouts and I've rarely had a long wait. Their own label clothing, George, is also very good value. The clothes are both well designed and well made. There are quite a few bargains to be found. One thing that I think they should bring back... Read review

Best pizza ever!
Review of Asda Create Your Own Pizza by  chicken82

Advantages: Massive, cheap, good variety of choice.
Disadvantages: none.

...Well, seeing as im sitting here munching an asda create your own pizza, i thought id better review them! I have never been a massive fan of pizza unless it was home made or from dominos. Then i discovered asda. You can choose from a variety of bases - deep pan, thin and crispy, stonebaked etc and you can opt for the traditional tomatoe base or a bbq flavour one. They come in 2 different sizes. As far as toppings go, you can choose 4, 6 or 8. Toppings include peperoni, chorizo, chili beef, chicken, cajun chicken, ham, pineapple, jalapeno peppers, mixed peppers, tuna, mushrooms, mozzarella, sweetcorn, onion, hickory steak, and the list goes on - including some 'extra special' toppings to at a different price. I buy large pizzas with 4 toppings, and they are £3.18 each - fab value. (they are 14 inch pizzas) After they have been made right... Read review
