Asda Ice Cream - IT'S MINT!!!!
Review of Asda Mint Chocolate Chip Soft Serve Ice Cream 2ltr by  pennywa

Advantages: Tastes lovely, very cheap, easy to find in the shops
Disadvantages: It's easy to scoff the lot in one go!

...We all love ice cream in our house. Sometimes we get the more expensive ones like Ben & Jerry's for instance, but we eat it so quickly that mum often has to resort to just buying us the cheaper versions from time to time. Usually we get these from Iceland, but lately she's been getting Asda's own brand 'cheap' version, and we all love it. The latest one we tried this weekend was Asda's Mint Chocolate Chip. It comes in a 2 litre carton and was under 90p - I think that's really cheap, as 2 litres is a lot of ice cream to get through, even for me! Sometimes we put it into cones or dad likes to sandwich his between 2 wafer biscuits. I don't like to do either, I just like to plop mine in a bowl and eat it with a very big spoon! This particular one is really really tasty. The only downside (probably) is that the picture... Read review

Custard cream? no! ice cream
Review of Asda Custard Cream Ice Cream Biscuits by  lazza123

Advantages: Novelty value
Disadvantages: Taste

...You can tell summer is here, all the different types of ice cream are now available in the shops! I was walking around my local ASDA, and found these - all the ones I would normally have had gone :-( ** What are they? ** Asda Custard cream ice cream biscuits are just that – Ice creams that look exactly like custard creams. The box has six individually wrapped ice creams in. It seems to be a bit of a trend now, making ice creams in the style of well known other brands. I’m sure most people have eaten, or even seen custard cream biscuits; well these are the ice cream version, they look identical to the biscuits, but are about three times larger. ** What’s the pack like? ** So what do you get for £1.48? You get a box of six ice cream biscuits, weighing in at 220g. The box is blue, and has a picture of the ice creams... Read review

I scream for ice cream!
Review of Asda Vanilla Ice Cream Rolls by  SweetTooth93

Advantages: Tasty, fairly cheap, not to high in calories/fat
Disadvantages: Not very healthy

...I am quite a dessert person! Wheather its a simple vanilla yogurt, or if it's a triple chocolate brownie "delight", i'm happy! When I was young, my favourite dessert used to be something like a chocolate mousse- I used to love when I went to stay with my Auntie and Uncle in Edinburgh, they'd buy luxury belgian chocolate mousses for us, and then chop up mars bars and pop mini peices into the mousse to create a taste explosion! When I started high school I developed a taste for things like strawberry cheesecake and apple pies- I still have that taste to this day, but sometimes I like something a little more plain, and a little less heavy! Last Thursday I had a sudden craving for ice cream in the car, on our way back from the doctors surgery. My mum needed to pop into Asda to get some more Branflakes, so when she wandered off... WANTED: 1 Bottle Ice-Cream De-icer
Review of Asda really creamy ice cream by  zoe_page

Advantages: Cheap, green, interesting
Disadvantages: Not any of the above in a good way

...In honour of the fact that I didn’t have to de-ice my car this morning, the first day this week I actually remembered a coat on leaving the house, I’m writing about ice cream. And icy ice cream at that If money were no object my ice cream freezer would be full of Ben and Jerry’s and Haagen Dazs. But sometimes, just sometimes, it’s hard to resist a deal, and Asda’s 2 for £3 offer on their really creamy ice cream was nothing if not one of these. The ‘really creamy’ sub brand covers 6 flavours which are a random mix of the ordinary (chocolate, vanilla, toffee) and the bizarre (Summer Fruits, Lemon Meringue). Since the brand is up as a generic product, I decided to put my review here rather than suggest a specific item for the flavour I’m writing about: After Dinner Mint. ☼☼☼ The Basics ☼... Read review

I scream for Ice Cream!
Review of Asda really creamy ice cream by  tazza72

Advantages: Really Creamy rich tasting ice cream
Disadvantages: None that I can think of

...I'm very partial to ice cream - i'm not even fussed what brand it is - I've tried them all. Haagen Daaz, Ben & Jerry's, Carte D'Or - you name it I've tried it. I've also tried all the supermarket own brand specialty ice creams, so when our new Asda opened - well it just had to be done. Asda's brand is 'Really Creamy Dairy Ice Cream' and comes in 6 flavours - which are: Triple Chocolate After Dinner Mint Toffee Vanilla Summer Fruits Lemon Meringue They all live up to their description - they really are very creamy. They look very appealing and the flavour does not disappoint. The mint is very minty, the lemon meringue is very lemony and so on. But don't take my word for it - go and try for yourself. The products come in 1 litre tubs and the calories vary from 100 - 120 per 100ml, and the fat content is between 4.5g... Read review

No Ice Cream? Then Lick A Hippie!
Review of Ben & Jerry's Baked Alaska Ice Cream by  bandcamp

Advantages: good quality vanilla ice cream and white chocolate shapes, raising awareness about climate change
Disadvantages: essentially an upmarket plain ice cream with nice white chocolate, bit sickly

...Cream Mars Bars (greedy git) and the one previous occasion I have tried Ben & Jerry's was at one of the 'scoop-stores' and I felt it was far too sickly. That was Phish Food that I had tried though... I hoped that I would enjoy Baked Alaska more than that. If not, at least it shouldn't go to waste - courtesy of the Boyf aka human garbage disposal. + SPOON ME, SPOON ME! + The Baked Alaska flavour is "Vanilla ice cream with Marshmallow swirls and white chocolatey Polar Bears" - I'm a white chocolate fan so hopefully this will go down better than the Phish Food did! And bless, the little polar bears (if they resemble them at all) is a nice touch in regards to the ice caps melting and climate change and what-not. Hurrah for awareness! Baked Alaska has only been recently launched and I got it from Asda for the princely sum of £3... Read review

All Scream for Ice Cream
Review of Smarties Ice Cream by  stuleg

Advantages: Cheap if you shop around
Disadvantages: An awful lot of "E" numbers

...Gone are the days when buying a tub of Ice Cream meant a straight choice between Vanilla, or if you where feeling exceedingly daring, Raspberry Ripple. Nowadays, virtually every Chocolate bar, Dessert or drink has been chopped up or dried and turned into the latest must try frozen dessert. Most of the time the results are pleasant enough, although I once saw a Garlic flavoured offering that I steered well clear of – Garlic is lovely with pasta or Garlic bread, but ice cream? Come on. So the theory was seemingly straight forward when I saw tubs of Nestle Smarties Ice Cream in my local ASDA; I like Ice cream and I like Smarties; ergo, I must like the Ice cream. The Ice Cream comes in a 1 Litre round plastic tub which is decorated mostly in blue with Smarties flying in all directions. A small part of the tub is opaque so you can see... Read review

Sexist Ice Cream
Review of Nestle Yorkie Ice Cream by  Lovin_Angel

Advantages: It is Ice Cream
Disadvantages: It actually will run out

...kcals Which of course is fine because men do not worry about their weight - right?? If you would like to contact Nestle you can write to: - Consumer services, Richmond Frozen Confectionery Ltd, Manston Lane, Leeds, LS15 8SX. Or you can ring them free: - 0808 100 5656. The description of this ice cream on the tub is ' Milk chocolate, Dairy ice cream with Milk chocolate chunks.' How yummy I thought and the urge to buy it went mad once I saw the price label in Asda that said it was £1.99!! Bargain. So, now that all the technical stuff is out the way I will get on to the most important bits. I got the tub home and opened it. The smell was definitely chocolatey and creamy. The look of it made my mouth water. The ice cream looked fluffy and you could make out bits of chocolate lurking in the creaminess. It was a lovely dark colour... Read review

'This Ice Is Oh So Nice'
Review of Asda Cornish Vanilla Ice-Cream by  hammodt

Advantages: Great Vanilla Taste; Cheap; OK Nutritionally!
Disadvantages: Err... A wee bit boring packaging?

...This has got to be one of the best, basic vanilla ice-creams on sale in the UK. I think this for several reasons: 1. Value -------- In true Asda Style, this icecream is much cheaper than many of its competitors. A whole 2L tub of this glorious ice cream will set you back under £1 which is not bad going, baring in mind you can buy Waitrose icecream at over £2 for only 500ml! 2. Taste -------- Unlike many of the cheap icecreams that are avaliable, this stuff isn't fluffy and horrid, which is a great relief. It also tastes fairly vanillary, and they have the right balance of sweetness. It tastes excellent when served with bananas and golden syrup! 3. Avaliability --------------- It always seems to be available when I go down to my local Asda store, which is great, especially when you need it in a hurry! Also, at one point... Read review

I'm in love with an Ice Cream!!!
Review of Vienetta Ice Cream by  pennywa

Advantages: Tastes lovely, quite cheap, holds its shape
Disadvantages: none

...I am in love with this stuff. It is simply gorgeous. My mum started to but Vienetta Ice CReam a few years ago when I was young, and when I had friends around for tea she would serve this up as a special treat. We have it about every other weekend now, usually after our Sunday lunch. Gran comes over and mum shares it between the five of us but it doesn't go far so sometimes we open a second one. Gran has problems eating them though, as ice cream doesn't always agree with her, not just Vienetta, but all cold foods. This one costs us about £1.99 but they have them on offer in Asda on buy one get one frree, so weve stocked up. It comes in a blue box and it has layers of ice cream and chocolate built up to form a sort of block. the Chocolate on the top and through all of th elayers is reall crispy and not at ll soft...
