...Well ; heres my opinion of the place they call " Ashford " ; I mean - it's not too important... it's only where I call home... ;-) Now you see the slang on the street these days people call it " Trashford " and all the rest but it aint a bad place to be actually... let me explain why... The Good Points The Town Center The town center is good place to generally hang out as it is rather a large place with a good selection of shops including Blockbuster and Electroniques Boutique (my favs) It also hosts a place which is sheltered called " Community Square " with shops inside there - pretty cool. The Mcarthur Glenn place Iv only been once and I can honestly say it really didnt appeal to me - far too many fshion shops for my liking - nice big structure though and a place to hang out and meet people I suppose... although...

Sleep ol' Ashford.

Advantages: Quiet and sleepy town.
Disadvantages: Boring usually!

...Okay so lets begin with the roots of Ashford. Some people believe the towns real origin lies in the ninth century when it was invaded by the Danes a number of people settled on land what is now known as Ashford. Ashford was owned by many important people and arguments were normally started as to who owned what part. Ashford has a fantastic railway line which was built in 1872 and doubled Ashford's population from 3,000 to 7,000! On to Ashford recently.... Ashford has increased its population by a staggering amount. I believe this is because of the transport links and the new developments e.g pubs, clubs, transport and obviously apartments. Ashford has been majorly cleaned up and is looking really attractive! It is open to many schools including Ashford School which is a private school and costs thousands to send your child...

...My birthplace Ashford in Kent is changing in quite a dramatic fashion. During my boyhood this small market town only had a population of around 25,000 and was over-shadowed by places such as Folkestone,Maidstone and Dover.Today things are very different! Ashford is probably the fastest growing town in Kent and the urban landscape is also changing rapidly. The town has always been a reasonably important rail junction but today it houses Ashford International the first stop for trains coming through the Channel Tunnel.The station is large,looks rather like an ocean-going liner and has equally massive car parking facilities. ...Regular readers - and I love you all to bits - will no doubt once again raise their eyebrows Heavenwards in supplication one more time when they read that I've just stayed in a hotel in Ashford, Kent. This time, however successfully I have managed to root out an undesirable holiday location - and, believe me, it is - there was method in my madness. It may be a convenient conference location, but there are certainly better centres from which to explore Kent, the "Garden of England". Try Canterbury, for example. It's where I live and it's less than 20 miles from Ashford. So why, exactly, did I do it? Baby Josh and I decided that Amanda needed a weekend away (?Mothering Sunday? was looming) and we arranged a short break in Brussels. The best way to get to Brussels from the South East of the UK is by Eurostar, without a shadow of doubt...

Advantages: We Enjoy Driving, Take All your Luggage, No Hanging Around at Airports

...for the first time on the M25. Half an hour after leaving home we sometimes feel the need for a quick loo stop at Clacketts Lane Services in Kent, a strange ghostly aura pervades this place at night. More often than not though, we arrive in Dover without stopping. Through the Sussex, Surrey and Kent countryside we have seen little but headlights in the darkness. We branch off the M25 onto the M26, the "link" motorway to the M20. The M26 is the one motorway I fear a hold up on, there are no junctions, no way off of it until the M20 is reached near Maidstone. Having joined the M20 you are able to sense Dover and the continent in sight, you share the road here with far more foreign vehicles than English ones. Approaching Ashford - at least in the summer - the sun is just starting to rise to our left. It is the last few miles coming into Dover that...

Shop Til You Drop

...The McArther Glen Ashford Outlet is located near to Ashford Town Centre and there is a free shuttle bus that runs between the town centre and the shopping outlet. The shopping outlet is also within walking distance the Ashford International Train Station. If you are driving, the outlet is a few minutes off Junction 10 of the M20 motorway. Design Of The Outlet The outlet is constucted from high tension steel with a canopy above which runs throughout the perimiter of the site. There is a large car park in the centre of the outlet with the shops creating a circe surrounding this. At the entrance to the outlet there is a large wooden pedestrian footbridge which leads to shops either side. There are toilets at the halfway point of each site and there is another set of toilets in the 'Food Court which is located at the far end...
