...~ # ~ What's it about? ~ # ~ Well you play a character called Desmond Miles, a mild mannered bar keep who is forced to go back in time by a team of science types using a machine called the Animus. Desmond is the descendant of a long long line of assassin's and as such contains within him a deep connection with his ancestors memories, (so we're told), and the Animus machine is able to relive the memories from the host, i.e. Desmond. Taken back into the past to the Third Crusade the majority of the game is played as Desmond's long dead relative Altaïr (Flying Eagle in Arabic apparently) who is a disgraced member of the assassin brotherhood who must redeem himself by carrying out 9 assassinations of 9 historical figures who according to history and Ubisoft who developed the game existed and died or disappeared during the crusades... Advantages: Great graphics and a great idea for a game

...ASSASSINS CREED Assassins creed had a lot of publicity throughout the gaming industry and from what they showed us at the various public displays it looked as though it was going to be an outstanding game that everyone would want. It looked as though it may sell out and that possibly it would over take other best selling games such as Halo 3. It was released on the 21st of November in England and due to all of the public hype and from what I had seen I really wanted a copy. Luckily there was still loads of copy's left. The game came as the standard box game or as a limited edition set with a different case and a figure of the main player. ...There has been a great deal of hype surrounding Assassin's Creed, with emphasis on free-form action and next gen graphics among the reasons to get excited. And its true, the graphics are at time, quite brilliant, and the exploration offered by it is top-notch also. You take up the role of Altair, an Assassin in the 12th century, on a mission to slay 9 figures of importance to redeem himself. There is also a huge twist in the tail too, which I won't reveal, although the game does reveal it in the opening scenes, and the story would benefit far more if it was revealed closer to the end to give the game a sense of real shock value. In the run-up to the game's release, Ubisoft were tight-lipped about the "near-future" part of the game, but the secret came out regardless, so it's no real spoiler mentioning it. ...I finished reading the Blind Assassin last night and ran to my computer to review it as I found it moving and a fab read and really wanted to share my thoughts with you all. 45 minutes of careful typing away and what do I do, hit the back button! My cry of anguish echoed loud enough to bring Mr running in from the other room, he was sympathetic but gave me the now immortal advice of why didn't you write it in a word document first? Doh… so Im now doing just that. Background I picked up the Blind Assassin to read because it was on my list of Booker prize award winners. In fact Margaret Atwood won it in 2000. I had never read any of her other books so came to the Blind Assassin completely blind as such with no preconceptions at all. ...The first book of the FarSeer Trilogy. Assassin's Apprentice introduces us to the young Fitz Farsser a illigitimate heir to the throne. Sounds like a stroke of luck however this is anything but fortunate for young Fitz as he is dragged into a world of court intrigue, back stabbing, and danger. Confronted by people that would do all within their power to make sure that a Royal bastard never reaches the throne. This is a tale of coming of age, about a boy that it thrust into a world where he is not wanted, wher frienships and courtesy is few and far between. Yet it is also a tale of human endurance and survival. Hobb has an amazing writing style and a great ability to capture childlike innocence - a state of mind that we would all like to return to. Before we start the review, look at the DVD cover for the film…. the movie is called Assassins and Stallone doesn't realise that Banderos is behind him!! Oh dear, this could have been a shorter film than what was expected. Any way I digress, sit comfortably, relax and on with the review…. This film was released twelve years ago; I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this at the Cinema that this was a Richard Donner film. This man has directed Superman, 4 Lethal Weapon films, and shows no signs of slowing down. The cast in Assassins is a very good collection of actors, Stallone playing Robert Rath, the professional assassin on the verge of retirement and wanting to do one more job. ...Assassin's Creed is a mix between a historic battle game and free-running. Altair, an assassin from the 12th Century, has to use skills, from pick-pocketing to full combat, in order to kill his targets. The storyline is quite complex, but the number of movie sequences in the game help to tell the story, even if they do get quite boring. A man, Desmond, is being held prisoner by a company hoping to change the past. A machine, called the Animus, lets you travel back in time and relive the memories of your ancestors. The game is split between the kidnapped Desmond and the ancient assassin, but the two characters intertwine at the very end. Overall, a very good game from Ubisoft. The maps are very big, giving you a lot of freedom in what you do, and there are lots of extra tasks to do when you are not killing people... Read review

Advantages: Good graphics, gameplay, combat, and it is fun for the first few hours.
Disadvantages: Repetative speech and combat, lots of glitches and a short game overall

...mistake. I find one of the most fun parts of the game is the roof running. This allows you to move across the whole city unobserved or to escape the guards easily. The guards on the roofs are only a small problem and it is very easy to take them down without them seeing you, as it should be done as you are an assassin. The one other negative point is that the game is very short, only nine assassinations and it is easily completeable in 25 hours or less. This seems a little short for a game that costs fifty pounds, and it looks from the end of the story line that they are also lining up for a sequel. I will now summarise the game as a list of pros and cons: Pros: -It has brilliant graphics -The maps are large and almost fully explorable and you are able to get to every rooftop and climb almost every wall -The combat is fun and you feel...
