Reviews of assassin's
Great fantasy novels
Review of The Assassin's Quest - Robin Hobb by
chris_East
Advantages: Great characters well though out settings
Disadvantages: Can be hard to find in some shops
...If your looking for a good fantasy writer you could do with checking out the author Robin Hobb. She has two trilogies at present- The Assassin’s and The Liveship Traders. The assassin’s is about a young boy who is the bastard son of the heir to the throne. Over the three books he comes of age and comes to term with his power (the ability to bond with animals). This is a hated power and he keeps it hidden. The story develops well and Robin Hobb manages to created a detailed and rich world that draws you in. The liveship traders is set in the same world (although a different area). This is the second trilogy and the better. It follows a trading family through several years of intrigue, war and adventure. The main character is a young girl whos life is thrown into turmoil when her farther dies and leaves the family trading boat the her hated...

Repetitive anti climax with some enjoyable moments
Review of Assassin's Creed (Xbox 360) by
paulwillocks
Advantages: Great graphics and contols system
Disadvantages: can get boring after a while
...This was an eagerly awaited game if ever there was one. It looked amazing on all the gaming websites and in all the magazines.
Then launch day arrived and I rushed out like everyone else to grab myself a copy.
Well I fired up my 360 to play Assassin's Creed for the first time and I was not dissapointed. The graphics were stunning and the control system is very intuitive. I'm not sure about the modern/historical storyline. It just seemed to detract from what could have been a stunning game.
The main issue for me with Assassin's Creed is that everything feels so REPETITIVE. all the tasks you are set are the same. All the soldiers you fight all look the same. The locations pretty much all look the same. To tell you the truth I ended up becoming bored very very quickly. I spoke to a friend of mine last night asking him if he had completed...

Creepy facts!
Review of Weird facts - Daft Stories by
red_lili
Advantages: None to the presidents, but makes us glad we aren't one!
Disadvantages: Poor presidents
...Someone sent me this as an email and I thought it was quite freaky so I thought I'd share it with you guys at Ciao!
Look what happens when a President gets elected in a year with a "0" at the end.
Also notice it goes in increments of 20 years.
1840: William Henry Harrison (died in office)
1860: Abraham Lincoln (assassinated)
1880: James A. Garfield (assassinated)
1900: William McKinley (assassinated)
1920: Warren G. Harding (died in office)
1940: Franklin D. Roosevelt (dies in office)
1960: John F. Kennedy (assassinated)
1980: Ronald Reagan (survived assassination attempt)
2000: George W. Bush ..........shame huh?lol
And to think that we had two guys fighting it out in the courts to be the one elected in 2000.
You might also be interested in this.
Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.

Disadvantages: See 'Advantages'....lol
...I CAME ACROSS THIS AND THOUGHT IT WOULD BE GOOD TO SHARE IT WITH YOU ALL. MAKES YA FINK, DUNNIT???
The American History Lesson..........STRANGE!!
Very strange......................weird in fact!
Ask a history teacher to explain this if they can.
Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.
Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.
Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both wives lost a child while living in the White
House.
Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both Presidents were shot in the head.
Now it gets really weird.................
Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy.
Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln.

Assassin's Creed, My Love/Hate Relationship
Review of Assassin's Creed (PS3) by
JoeyLemons
Advantages: Near-Perfect Graphics, Completely Original Storyline
Disadvantages: Feelings of Repetition, Recycled Dialogue in places
...Since the launch of the PS3, Assassin's Creed is a game that quickly established itself as a big name in then next generation gaming world.
The graphics are nothing short of beautiful (something that few games can boast) with incredible architecture on the buildings that you will certainly see plenty of as the gameplays on. The storyline is something special with a blend of Crusade-era combat and glimpses of the futuristic research facility that compliment and contrast each other superbly.
The downside is the feeling of repetition that kicks in around the 4th mission. By this stage the system of gaining information and taking out targets begins to make me wonder how long it is until the ending. Also, despite the awe-inspiring graphics, a lot of the dialogue in the game is used over and over, exactly the same.
Despite this the game...

Farseer Trilogy
Review of The Assassin's Quest - Robin Hobb by
lmellors
Advantages: Great Story one of the finest Fantasy Trilogies written
Disadvantages: none
...It is so good these days to find a good book - to find a great trilogy is remarkable. The Farseer Trilogy - Assassin's Aprentice, Royal Assassin and Assassin's Quest are new bread of fantasy that I have immencely enjoyed.
Robin Hobb describes his world - Six Duchies - on a par with the intrigue of Narnia or Middle Earth. His characters are a mix between medievil and fantasy characters. Certainly the aspect of court, king and princes makes one believe in a Camelot realm and it does seem to have its perellels with evil and good sharing the same castle.
The magic is brilliant - no spells or potions as such but Hobb uses drugs and alchemy to achieve certain mistic results and two powerful forms of magic the Skill and the Wit. However, in one twist that parellels the real world is that powers such as these are addictive and have more...

Assassins Creed
Review of Assassin's Creed (Xbox 360) by
MattayBoy
Advantages: Brilliant graphics, innovative controls
Disadvantages: Tasks can end up feeling repetitive, AI can be dire at times
...There has been a great deal of hype surrounding Assassin's Creed, with emphasis on free-form action and next gen graphics among the reasons to get excited.
And its true, the graphics are at time, quite brilliant, and the exploration offered by it is top-notch also.
You take up the role of Altair, an Assassin in the 12th century, on a mission to slay 9 figures of importance to redeem himself. There is also a huge twist in the tail too, which I won't reveal, although the game does reveal it in the opening scenes, and the story would benefit far more if it was revealed closer to the end to give the game a sense of real shock value.
One of the hyped up features in Assassins Creed is the free running abilities of Altair, and that "anything that sticks out more than 3 inches can be climbed" Well they certainly meant that, Altair can hop...

JFK - Just Facts, Kids
Review of Everything that starts with J ... by
paulgusta
Advantages: The truth! Facts!...
Disadvantages: ...until I put my bias on it.
...John Fitzgerald Kennedy was shot dead Friday November 22nd, 1963, by Lee Harvey Oswald. Apparently.
After studying the JFK assassination this week in my history course at Uni, my interest has been piqued, and I intend on writing an essay (worth about 45% of my overall grade) about JFK, or more specifically: 'Is it likely that President Kennedy was the victim of a conspiracy? Explain your answer'. But since I haven't started my research yet, I'll amuse your minds with these facts until my essay gets written in a few weeks. So please tune back in if that's your kind of scene.

Lincoln was elected President in 1860. JFK was elected in 1960.

The mind of a silent assassin
Review of Hitman 2: Silent Assassin (Xbox) by
daztheboy
Advantages: Lots of gameplay and good graphics
Disadvantages: no multiplayer ability
...Enter the realm of a retired assassin, forced back into action by treason. You may be a hired killer but you still have a sense of loyalty and justice. Visit the dark recesses of a world corrupted by crime, greed, degradation and dishonor. And a past that catches up with you.
I decided to get this game to test it out before I got the newer version Hitman contracts. If the game were good I would buy contracts and if it were not up to standards I would not get contracts.
And now sitting on my huge collection of games is Hitman: Contacts.
The game involves you codename 47 to go through a set of mission’s assassinating various leaders.
The game play is very good. I found myself playing the game in 4-hour shifts without realizing it. You can play the stealthy assassin and sneak around in the shadows, killing only your target and no one...
