Reviews of assassin's
Assassination has never been so much fun!
Review of Assassin's Creed (Xbox 360) by
elmopants
Advantages: Beautiful world, animation, reasonably compelling story.
Disadvantages: A little slow at times, repetitive missions.
...~ # ~ What's it about? ~ # ~
Well you play a character called Desmond Miles, a mild mannered bar keep who is forced to go back in time by a team of science types using a machine called the Animus. Desmond is the descendant of a long long line of assassin's and as such contains within him a deep connection with his ancestors memories, (so we're told), and the Animus machine is able to relive the memories from the host, i.e. Desmond. Taken back into the past to the Third Crusade the majority of the game is played as Desmond's long dead relative Altaïr (Flying Eagle in Arabic apparently) who is a disgraced member of the assassin brotherhood who must redeem himself by carrying out 9 assassinations of 9 historical figures who according to history and Ubisoft who developed the game existed and died or disappeared during the crusades...

ASSASSINS CREED : GOOD OR NOT!?
Review of Assassin's Creed (Xbox 360) by
Rogue-XIII
Advantages: Great graphics and a great idea for a game
Disadvantages: No multiplayer, Very Short, Not much Replayability
...ASSASSINS CREED
Assassins creed had a lot of publicity throughout the gaming industry and from what they showed us at the various public displays it looked as though it was going to be an outstanding game that everyone would want. It looked as though it may sell out and that possibly it would over take other best selling games such as Halo 3. It was released on the 21st of November in England and due to all of the public hype and from what I had seen I really wanted a copy. Luckily there was still loads of copy's left. The game came as the standard box game or as a limited edition set with a different case and a figure of the main player. I purchased the standard edition as the Altair figurine did not warrant me spending an extra £20. Any way I got the game at home and below is the review.
THE STORY
In assassins creed you play...

Assassins Creed
Review of Assassin's Creed (Xbox 360) by
MattayBoy
Advantages: Brilliant graphics, innovative controls
Disadvantages: Tasks can end up feeling repetitive, AI can be dire at times
...There has been a great deal of hype surrounding Assassin's Creed, with emphasis on free-form action and next gen graphics among the reasons to get excited.
And its true, the graphics are at time, quite brilliant, and the exploration offered by it is top-notch also.
You take up the role of Altair, an Assassin in the 12th century, on a mission to slay 9 figures of importance to redeem himself. There is also a huge twist in the tail too, which I won't reveal, although the game does reveal it in the opening scenes, and the story would benefit far more if it was revealed closer to the end to give the game a sense of real shock value.
One of the hyped up features in Assassins Creed is the free running abilities of Altair, and that "anything that sticks out more than 3 inches can be climbed" Well they certainly meant that, Altair can...

Assassin's Creed
Review of Assassin's Creed (Xbox 360) by
andyk
Advantages: Excellent story, the assassinations are great
Disadvantages: Quite repetitive, some camera and control issues
...Assassin's Creed is a game of two stories. Two stories linking in two aspects, but separated by almost a thousand years. In the run-up to the game's release, Ubisoft were tight-lipped about the "near-future" part of the game, but the secret came out regardless, so it's no real spoiler mentioning it.
You play as Desmond, a bartender in the year 2012 who has been kidnapped by a pharmaceutical company and forced to undergo experiments in a machine called the Animus. The reason isn't apparent at first, but the experiment involves Desmond regressing to the life of one of his ancestors - an Assassin in the Holy Land during the time of the Crusades - and replaying the events of the time from his point of view.
These events being the assassination of powerful people in the three cities of Acre, Damascus and Jerusalem. Altaïr (pronounced...

Assassin's Creed PS3 - The low down.
Review of Assassin's Creed (PS3) by
arrrtdave
Advantages: Beautiful graphics and an original story line. Fantastic free-running and combat system.
Disadvantages: At times repetitive and predictable. Also a little short.
... About the game
Assassin's Creed was the game that convinced me to part with the chunky sum of money that the PS3 price tag carried. Set in 1191 AD during the Third Crusade, the game promised to be an exhilarating one player adventure. You play Altair, an assassin of the Creed, who has been stripped of his ranks after failing to comply with the rules of the Brotherhood. You are set the mission to assassinate key targets across the land as you slowly regain you lost rank and reputation.
At a glance...
If you do not want to read this whole review then in short: The game is fantastic and I definately recommend it. With stunning graphics and lighting, a terrific combat system and slick controls, the game is thoughtful and well composed. Being able to scale almost every surface in a Prince of Persia esque...

The Blinding Assassin
Review of The Blind Assassin - Margaret Atwood by
Shoka
Advantages: Compelling, easy to read, reveals itself slowly
Disadvantages: Non linear structure can make it hard to read
...I finished reading the Blind Assassin last night and ran to my computer to review it as I found it moving and a fab read and really wanted to share my thoughts with you all.
45 minutes of careful typing away and what do I do, hit the back button! My cry of anguish echoed loud enough to bring Mr running in from the other room, he was sympathetic but gave me the now immortal advice of why didn't you write it in a word document first? Doh… so Im now doing just that.
Background
I picked up the Blind Assassin to read because it was on my list of Booker prize award winners. In fact Margaret Atwood won it in 2000.
I had never read any of her other books so came to the Blind Assassin completely blind as such with no preconceptions at all.
From starting to read the book I quickly felt intrigued and compelled to know more...
