The company understood my studying situation and said whatever hours I would like,I could do. At the time I settled for 15 hours a week. I must state that I personally work as RESIDENTIAL and not NURSING,where there is a vast difference. So what does being a Carer involve? Advantages: anyone of any age can enjoy, gripping storyline
Disadvantages: really difficult to put the book down

The ups and downs of life as a care assistant

...I work as a care assistant on the dementia (SRC) unit of a residential care home. I've held my current post for a year now, having started off work in the kitchen. On the SRC unit we have 12 residents with varying needs, which is why I find it so interesting and rewarding. There are those who are more aware of their situation and surroundings and only get the odd moment of confusion about what time of day it is, for example, and then there are those who think they are still children and will spend a lot of time looking for their parents. Some experience hallucinations and delusions, thinking their rooms have been bugged or someone is trying to murder them, and others have difficulty communicating - they know what they want to say, but the wrong words come out and us carers have to try and decipher what they are meaning...

I have used the services of the breakdown cover on several occasions, once in another European country. They were very helpful and understanding. When i have used their cover here in the UK, they have always been professional and prompt in dealing with my car breakdown problems. They send out high quality local mechanics who seem to be able to fix the problem roadside. The information they send to customers is clear and unambiguous. They give you a customer call number for both breakdown problems in the UK and abroad. They even covered my car when i took it abroad with a small trailer !...
