It's models have ranged from vehicles suitable for the 2.4 children generation, family models with enough space for kids and a big labrador, right up to the famous GTE models with huge 16v engines and more torque (talk?!) than my mother! In recent years Vauxhall has expanded the range further with it's very sleek looking Coupé models, drawing in people previously not caught by the net. Young high-flyers in expensive suits are now happily parting with their hard-earned and really don't mind that their sporty new motor has a previously very uncool Vauxhall badge on the front. That's not to say that it's just the Coupé model that's sleek and smart. Emma (my very pregnant other half!) picked her new company car up early last month. Advantages: Looks, handling, individuality
Disadvantages: space (but you are buying a coupe!)

...technically be compared to a bigger class of car, like the Golf and the Astra. The Tigra and the Puma both have a chassis which is smaller than that of the Megane Coupe. The Tigra is based on the Vauxhall Corsa and the Puma is based on the Fiesta, it’s no wonder that with these smaller chassis that you can hurl the Tigra and the Puma around corners much better than the Coupe! Having driven all 3 of the above cars I can clearly say that the coupe is the best all rounder for enjoyment, comfort and cruising ability. The Tigra is indeed much moiré responsive but also quite jittery and the Puma is indeed a smooth ride…but still the coupe hold a certain awe in it’s character that, I find, is not matched by it’s rivals. ...I riecently traded up from an Nreg MGF (see my review there). The soft top was no longer practicle and I wanted a nice looking coupe with a bit more space. I origionally considered an Astra Coupe, but they were out of my price range and I was also considering depreciation. I wasn't getting anywhere near the price I wanted for the MGF and it was going to cost alot to trade in - I luckly found an MG/Rover garage where I got a realy good deal. My advise when part xing - look for a garage that sells your car and see what they have in stock first. Anyways - onto the Coupe. Looks Well Renault did a good thing basing the car on the Megane platform but putting the effort into making it a coupe rather a 3 door hatch (unlike Citreon Xara Coupe). Advantages: Very Reliable, Fairly Good On Fuel, Large Boot

...which it replaced although the Astra is slightly smaller. Its not overly common which is nice and comes with a nice set of 16" alloy wheels as standard (you can obviously pick different sizes etc at the dealship when buying new for a price of course). I myself have added some extras after buying the car including an Irmsher exhaust and Irmsher grille just to add to the look of the car. Inside it is just nice, not to fancy and not plain the dash layout is good froma drivers point of view and the dials are white sports dials as standard. Being tall i somtimes find cars uncomfortable but i must admit i LOVE the seats in the Astra, they adjust up and down in a tilt fashion and have a lumber support plus the normal back and forth movement plus reclining. There is a nice short-shift 5-speed gearbox which makes the car not only fun to drive... Read review

...I've now had my Vauxhall Astra Coupe for the best part of 2 years, and feel its about time to try and sum up this car. I bought it in August 2004, it was 4 years old, with 50,000 miles on the clock. Initially I wasn't looking to buy a Vauxhall, I was out to buy a coupe, and just loved the shape of this car and the price tag. When looking to buy a Coupe, you really dont expect to get anything in the way of boot space, or rear passenger space. This is where the Astra kicks sand in the face of other coupes out there, there is plenty of room to fit 3 adults in the back, and more than enough space for the weekly shop, golf bag, etc in the boot. I was totally amazed at just how much space there was. The space, as much as there is loads, is limited by access. As the coupe only has 2 doors, its not easy for your average adult to get... Advantages: Great looking, fun to drive, a vauxhall

...Just recently I finally laid my 2.5 V6 Vectra to rest which was a wonderful car, much better than what Clarkson says about them, and I replaced it with a 2.2l Astra Coupe Bertone. The first concern that I had with the car would be the room inside as I am 6ft 1 and so space is a premium for me, but with the Astra I found that there was plenty of room for myself to easily fit in, where as I am forced to kiss my knees when I ride in my friends Celica, so for a coupe the Astra seems to have a good deal of space. Even though I have not had any passengers in the back of the car I cannot comment upon the amount of room for passengers but I have looked around at other reviews on the web and they say that there is a good deal of room for passengers in the back. There is good amount of boot space for a coupe (328 litres), which is much more... Read review
