...~ My history ~ My very first car was a Renault Clio and after a crash on Valentines Day 2005 (which completely wrote it off (oops) and I couldn't believe I had to pay £50 to get them to scrap my little baby! 2004 Astra 1.7 CDTi Sxi (Closest Category Found!)

Advantages: Space age looks (New Model 2004) Great Engine. Quality interior. Equipment
Disadvantages: Driving position. Ride & handling.

Corsa SXI- The perfect first car

Advantages: Economical, spacious, stylish
Disadvantages: none

...I have had my corsa sxi since 2005 and as a first car it is perfect. The car is economical, comfortable and looks stylish! My corsa is adaptable to the many uses I put it through from taking five adults comfortably on long journeys to off road driving. The extras in the sxi are definitely worth it as the cd player and electric windows are useful if you do lots of motorway driving so you dont have to take your eyes off the road. The steering wheel controllers are also good for this and allow you to function the cd player or radio when you are driving and can stop friends keep changing track when you are driving! I have taken my corsa over grass fields in the winter and it has coped well, im not saying it a 4x4 but it can cope with small amounts of mud and I have not got stuck yet.... For a first car the corsa is great as it is reliable...

The Vauxhall Corsa SXi - The Best HotHatch

Disadvantages: They don't make this model anymore! The new corsa's interior is just hideous!

...This small, sporty, cheap hatchback is, frankly, the work of automotive genius! I am only 18, and this was/is my first car. I always wanted a Corsa, ever since my uncle bought one. As i was browsing through the pages of a well known auto trade magazine i stumbled across a black Corsa 1.2 SXi. I thought 'wow, now that's a sexy hot-hatch' and thought no more of it, dismissing it with thoughts of tear-inducing insurance prices. But, it turns out that this was one of the easiest and cheapest cars to insure! Now, unlike the Peugeot 206 Gti or the Citroen C2 VTR, the Corsa has got all the looks, without the enormous, fuel guzzling engine (and also minus that scratchy black plastic wrinkly french interior!). After going and looking at a couple, my mind was set - i was going to have one of these cars. And what a choice it turned out to be...

After 6 years and one month, we finally decided to part company with our rather good little Vauxhall Corsa ‘Sport’ (See my previous Op); and after the usual tramp around the showrooms we have replaced it with... another Vauxhall Corsa – an Sxi 1.2 16-valve! This time, however, we opted for the Corsa Sxi, and, now baby is less of a baby and more of a little girl, we decided that 5 doors (i.e. 4 doors and a boot) are better than 3 doors (that is – 2 doors and a boot)! Having now owned 3 Corsas, 1 Nova (‘No go’ in Spanish?!?) from new and one nearly new Cavalier it has been interesting to note the changes in design and quality from Vauxhall (Opel/General Motors) in the last few years – mostly these changes have been positive. So where to begin...

Vauxhall Corsa SXi 1.4i

Advantages: Good engine, looks, interior.
Disadvantages: Barmy low-ratio gears, irritating design faults, tiny boot.

...I drove one of these for over a week while my car was being repaired. I have to agree with the other more negative reviews, for 14 years on from my first car (a Mk 1 Corsa) I don't think anything has improved! It looks cool, the interior is fine, it was pretty refined, and most of the car was what you should expect from a brand new model. However... It is no longer small, about the size of an older Astra! The forward visibility was poor - I am 6 feet tall and couldn't guess where the front was! The thick pillars make pulling out from junctions a bit tricky. In the SXi model the suspension is far too hard making the car feel as if it was jumping round bumpy corners, rather than being fast (as was intended?) No feel from the steering wheel either. The gearing ratios are daft - far too low. The engine pulled really well from low revs...

2009 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 Sxi - NEW SHAPE

Advantages: space, steering, brakes
Disadvantages: boot and not as cool to look at as new fiesta

...My girlfriend and me were given an 09 plate Corsa, when she wrote of her Ford KA (click my name for a review of KA). It was Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 SXi in Silver, it had optional extras like bigger alloys wheels and tinted windows, but it also had a built-in Dashboard screen which I don?t know if is an optional extra or a modification, anyway it was at Pioneer screen which had Sat-Nav, radio controls, phone sync, CD player and if it is an option I would most certainly recommend it. The Corsa was very pleasant to drive, the steering is obviously PAS but it was extremely light, the brakes were excellent, the gearbox was surprisingly pleasant, and the driving position was fantastic. For a Super-Mini it really does feel like a big car, the driving position is slightly elevated and the dashboard is really quite large for a car of this size...

Engine and Performance: Whilst a 1.2 engine may put potential buyers off due to a lack of power, it should be noted that this potential 16v engine is one of the best in its class, boasting one of the best 0-60mph times of 11.6 seconds. ...I recently bought the 2002 model Vauxhall Corsa 1.2Sxi, I was attracted to it by the great look, only then did I find out what advantages it actually has. It was priced at £8500, with the choice of 3 years intrest free credit. When I was looking round the showroom I was looking at all differnt types of models like the diesel and the petrol 1.2club etc (6999), but none were a patch on the Sxi. The difference being the interior and power to the engine: The interior on a Club is very standard, everything is platic and cheap looking, it has a radio casette, and even a coloured plastic gearnob, however the Sxi hs a CD player, Twin airbag, central locking, alloy wheels, twin spoiler and fog lamps it also has a great sporty effect on the dashboard ( a metallic grey).
