Asus EEE 4g
Review of ASUS Eee PC 4G - Celeron M 353 900 MHz - 7" TFT by stevet2207

Advantages: battery life, easy to use, quick to start, alright quality webcam
Disadvantages: small hardrive

...What a amazing thing. Got home from buying it put the battery in and the charger and was away. I was amazed at how light the laptop/UMPC was. The keyboard may look small but after typing on it for a while i am now fine with it infact it feels weird to type on a normal sized keyboard now. The startup speed amazed me how within 10 seconds it will be up and running great for the times when i needed to check something quick. The storage of the wifi routers names is a great idea just click and select and your connected to the internet. The screen may look small but is infact adequate enough for my needs (internet, word, and the occasional game) cant fault the operating system on it although people new to linux may want to have a look at the asus eee wiki (http://wiki.eeeuser.com/) which will help you install new programs etc. Battery... Very stable
Review of ASUS Intel 440BX Chipset P2B - motherboard - ATX - i440BX by yhwman

Advantages: Stable, feature rich
Disadvantages: None

...The Asus P2B is a stable and feature rich motherboard. It replaced a TMC motherboard I had which had ‘issues’ with Nvidia graphics cards. Since the swap my computer has been more stable in general use, as well as when the graphics card is working hard. Asus support the board well, a recent BIOS update added APCI power saving support. You get onboard USB, two EIDE channels, floppy disk controller, two serial ports, one parallel port and two ps/2 ports and the option to connect an infra red port. Wow! There’s lots of setup options to keep the tweakers happy and even the option of an Asus network card, which adds wake on LAN capability. Asus even have free motherboard monitoring/trouble shooting software available for download! If your slot 1 computer crashes a lot, try changing motherboards – you could be pleasantly surprised.... Top Duron
Review of AMD Duron by eric54

Advantages: Price, Performance
Disadvantages: None

.... What more do you want? My sister runs a P3 733Mhz system and i can say that mine is quicker. I know you have got other variables such as memory speed, motherboard, udma support etc. I know the Duron can be easily overclocked by adjusting the FSB on your motherboard but i wouldnt recommend overclocking in general whether it be on a Intel or AMD processor. (For all of you who dont know what overclocking is, it is where you get the processor running faster than its advertised speed i.e run a 750Mhz processor at 900Mhz. I hope that wasnt patronising!) I have had to replace many a fried processor so if you want more speed buy a faster processor. All in all i cannot recommend the Duron highly enough. If you are a basic home pc user or office user, this is the only processor to buy. To complement the Duron i would say buy a either ASUS or Abit... Read review

Great little machine
Review of Asus Eee PC 701 by excaliburuk

Advantages: Small, good battery life, easy to use, great for wifi, built in webcam.
Disadvantages: Linux makes it awkward for non techies to install new software, no bluetooth

...The unit is small, powers up very quickly and is great as a basic entry level PC for word processing and internet browsing. Unfortunately new out of the box it could not connect to WPA wifi until an upgrade had been done which again is very easy but will need a physical internet connection. The full desktop is not easy to switch on and due to the included operating system you will have problems installing and running any other software unless you are good with linux which is a million miles from windows. Asus do include the drivers for windows on the recovery disk and also full instructions on installing XP on the unit are included in the very informative manual but using them will require an external cd/dvd rom. There are ways to do it without the external drive using a usb stick / sd card, but you will have to do a search. In its... Read review

ASUS EAX1950PRO"still got some steam inside"
Review of ASUS EAX1950PRO/HTDP by krille282

Advantages: Fast for a older gen card & stable thx to excellent driversupport
Disadvantages: too expensive compared to newer series of cards

...speeds ofc I now enjoys the silence ;). The ASUS EAX1950PRO is in fact an factory overclocked card but the rather short bump in speed from 575MHz to 581MHz on the GPU & from 1375MHZ to 1404MHz on the GDDR3 memory doesn´t impress me @ all, on the bright side it can be overclocked further (voiding warranty)I have reached a maximum of 635/1540 using the ASUS SmartDoctor utility however the performance gains in games were minimal & sometimes making the Average FPS drop too! (I beleive the reason to be a chip on the card that regulates voltages is getting too hot, to be the main cause of the instabilty/OC issues). You can also run this card in crossfire though it requires a "mastercard" that includes the crossfireconnector bridges. (the HD series includes those if I remember it correctly?) + a Motherboard with crossire support/2x PCI-E slots... Read review

Excellent Motherboard, but expensive
Review of ASUS P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP AiLifestyle Series - motherboard - ATX - iP965 by webspot

Advantages: Silent heatpipe, PCI express, Supports Core2Duo
Disadvantages: Price

...Excellent motherboard. This is the first motherboard that I have installed in a computer before, and did ASUS make it easy for me! The manual is very clear, and tells you where everything is. All the connectors matched up with my Akasa Zen Case connectors, which I thought was great, as since then I didn't have the same experience with a Thermaltake case. The silent heatpipe, makes this a very quiet motherboard, whereas most normal motherboards would have a rubbish little fan that gets clogged with dust and ends up making a terrible noise. If you need to have a fan on the chipset heatsink, asus provide a fan that slots on to the top of the heatsink. Aswell as the chipset fan, ASUS provide loads of other stuff. This includes USB expansion, firewire expansion, SATA cables, and more! Great if you need any of this stuff. Overall I think... Read review
