Highly recommended great value burner!
Review of ASUS DRW 1608P by
EdwardChaput
Advantages: Great Value for money and reasonably fast as well.
Disadvantages: Can perform slowly on rewrites
...I have had problems with internal DVD drives in the past but this one sorted it all out. The Asus DRW1608P is a lovely grey machine and looks just like it does in the picture. the speeds are as follows:
5 x DVD-RAM
8 x DVD+RW
6 x DVD-RW
8 x DVD +/-R (DL)
40 x CD-R
32 x CD-RW
Does not lightscribe.
As i mentioned this machine can under perform slightly on RW but on the whole its fast and reliable. The best thing about this is it's price - mine cost £35 from a local shop but is available on line from £39. The reason why I chose this model is that it was the most recommended from Computer Shopper coming top of their polls.
I have burned quite a few DVDs with this and they have all worked perfectly. It comes with firmware update and Nero Startsmart - although a license is required for full DVD burning capabilities.

Disadvantages: -
...are eliminated with balanced architecture and peak bandwidths up to 6.4GB/s.
AGP8X
AGP8X (AGP 3.0) enables enhanced graphics performance with high bandwidth up to 2.12GB/s.
ASUS CPU Lock Free
The P5PE-VM offers the CPU Lock Free feature, which allows you to adjust CPU multiplier to 14x. The reduction of multiplier value provides more flexibility for increasing external FSB frequency to raise memory bus bandwidth. CPU Lock Free boosts overall system performance by making synchronous modification possible. Enjoy better performance at the same CPU operation speed and improve your system without pushing the CPU to the limit.
Serial ATA technology
Serial ATA provides scalable performance. With up to 150MB/s data transfer rate, Serial ATA is faster than current Parallel ATA.

Review of ASUS EAH2900XT/G/HTVDI by

Advantages: Great speed, efficient cooling system, impressive specifications
Disadvantages: High power consumption, 8800 GTX is faster
...▀ ▀ ▀ A small introduction to the 2900XT(R600) family. ▀ ▀ ▀
The 2900XT family is the first video cards family created for PC market and designed by ATI based on Microsoft unified shader Direct3D 10 Shader Model 4.0 / OpenGL 2.0 architecture. It is ATI's second generation unified shader design, based on the "Xenos" GPU implemented in the Xbox 360 game console, which used the world's first such shader architecture.Boosting 700 million transistors on 80nm HS fabrication process (by comparision ,Intel best dual core processor intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 has "only" 291 million transistors) and having 320 stream processing units this card surpassed the latest king the ATI Radeon X1900XTX but it still behind of NVIDIA top product the 8800 GTX.

...to recommend you P5VD2-X. It comes with nice features. It is still listed as Hot Product in their official site. For more detailed technical specifications on this product, feel free to follow the following link: http://www.asus.com.tw/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=346&l4=0&model=1362&modelmenu=2
This motherboard is recommended for people who love playing games and processing / editing graphics or photographs. No integrated / onboard graphic adaptor comes with this board. It requires an additional PCI-Express Video Card. I usually install an ATI-Radeon X-1050 PCI-Express card (128 MB GDDR2 – 64 Bit & Windows Vista Ready). Like most motherboards, this one is also package with onboard audio system, Realtek ALC883 6-channel High Definition Audio CODEC which supports Jack-Sensing, Enumeration, Multi-streaming and Jack-Retasking and Coaxial S/PDIF out...

Asus's Solution to Cheap Wireless Networking
Review of ASUS WiFi-b by
Deru
Advantages: Cheap, Easy to set up
Disadvantages: Must have ASUS (Deluxe/Premium) motherboard with Wi-Fi@Home socket, PC must be on to use the wireless
...for sure.
I’ve found that signal strength is pretty good although I can only go as far as my living room. This may very well be due to the walls I’ve got in the house. Larger spaces may allow for better signals. The antenna is at the end of a 1m wire thus allowing you to move it about for the best reception. I quite like this in the way that it’s flexible although I think it would be even better if it was even longer (i.e. 2-3 metres) so that I can put it somewhere higher than the top of the PC. That might get me better signals and especially since my PC is on the floor.
VERDICT
I think you would be better off getting a PCI wireless card even if you have an Asus motherboard that has the Wi-Fi@Home socket. If you were to sell the motherboard and buy a different brand, you would have to sell the card with the Asus you’re selling because...

Intel P4 3.4 (Max processor is a 3.8Mhz) but for the extra money at thhe time price and performance wise i was not going to see the extra £120.00 put to good use

ASUS AM2 M2N32-SLI motherboard
Review of ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe/Wireless Edition AiLifestyle Series - motherboard - ATX - nForce 590 SLI by
cjlight
Advantages: Quality and fast overclocking, great for games
Disadvantages: In the shadow of the Core 2 duo motherboards
...When purchasing my new computer i needed a motherboard that could handle the latest technology and compete with the latest releases. The ASUS M2N32-SLI motherboard fitted within my budget of one hundred pounds and offered a powerful tool for over clocking my components to keep my machine competing with the stresses of new programs and hardware.
Fitting the motherboard and installing the other hardware was exactly the same as fitting other motherboards. The ASUS M2N32-SLI motherboard supports the AMD AM2 cpu and thus supports DDR2 ram, this meant that when recycling my old computer i was unable to use the cpu or the RAM and needed to purchase these items again.
The passive cooling on the ASUS M2N32-SLI means that no fans are needed to cool the motherboard making it quiet. The motherboard comes with a optional fan which snaps onto...

...support/2x PCI-E slots of course.

ASUS also has some own specific innovations like GamerOSD,ASUS Splendid video enhancement technology (which has the limitation to not support resuloutions over 1280x720 (720p) using PCI-E, if this card were the AGP version it would be even worse as 720x480 is the maximum on that particular interface, luckily this is the PCI-E card) & we also have the SmartDoc that I...

ASUS - Market leaders for a reason.
Review of ASUS P5WD2 Premium AiLife Series - motherboard - ATX - i955X by
Radical-Machine
Advantages: Overclocking is Easy, Quality Product, Great Performance
Disadvantages: Layout not suitable for every PC
...This is the first Intel compatible board I've ever bought. After buying AMD for many years, I picked this board with the new Pentium D 805 processor because of the immense overclocking potential. The processor was a mere £79.95 and runs at 2.66Ghz standard. I've overclocked it to 3.4Ghz with no stabililty issues using only fans and heatsinks. Tom's Hardware have reportedly got 4.1+Ghz out of this chip using water cooling..!
So, I was confident after buying ASUS motherboards for AMD for years that their Intel boards would be just as good. I was right.
The motherboard is extremely well designed. I noticed a big difference when I was removing the old PC from it's case that this one was replacing. This ASUS motherboard has everything colour coded. Although not really a big deal for major components that are easily recognisable, it...
