Asus EEE 4g
Review of ASUS Eee PC 4G - Celeron M 353 900 MHz - 7" TFT by
stevet2207
Advantages: battery life, easy to use, quick to start, alright quality webcam
Disadvantages: small hardrive
...What a amazing thing. Got home from buying it put the battery in and the charger and was away. I was amazed at how light the laptop/UMPC was. The keyboard may look small but after typing on it for a while i am now fine with it infact it feels weird to type on a normal sized keyboard now. The startup speed amazed me how within 10 seconds it will be up and running great for the times when i needed to check something quick. The storage of the wifi routers names is a great idea just click and select and your connected to the internet. The screen may look small but is infact adequate enough for my needs (internet, word, and the occasional game) cant fault the operating system on it although people new to linux may want to have a look at the asus eee wiki (http://wiki.eeeuser.com/) which will help you install new programs etc. Battery...

Very stable
Review of ASUS Intel 440BX Chipset P2B - motherboard - ATX - i440BX by
yhwman
Advantages: Stable, feature rich
Disadvantages: None
...The Asus P2B is a stable and feature rich motherboard. It replaced a TMC motherboard I had which had ‘issues’ with Nvidia graphics cards. Since the swap my computer has been more stable in general use, as well as when the graphics card is working hard. Asus support the board well, a recent BIOS update added APCI power saving support. You get onboard USB, two EIDE channels, floppy disk controller, two serial ports, one parallel port and two ps/2 ports and the option to connect an infra red port. Wow! There’s lots of setup options to keep the tweakers happy and even the option of an Asus network card, which adds wake on LAN capability. Asus even have free motherboard monitoring/trouble shooting software available for download! If your slot 1 computer crashes a lot, try changing motherboards – you could be pleasantly surprised....

Great little machine
Review of Asus Eee PC 701 by
excaliburuk
Advantages: Small, good battery life, easy to use, great for wifi, built in webcam.
Disadvantages: Linux makes it awkward for non techies to install new software, no bluetooth
...The unit is small, powers up very quickly and is great as a basic entry level PC for word processing and internet browsing. Unfortunately new out of the box it could not connect to WPA wifi until an upgrade had been done which again is very easy but will need a physical internet connection. The full desktop is not easy to switch on and due to the included operating system you will have problems installing and running any other software unless you are good with linux which is a million miles from windows. Asus do include the drivers for windows on the recovery disk and also full instructions on installing XP on the unit are included in the very informative manual but using them will require an external cd/dvd rom. There are ways to do it without the external drive using a usb stick / sd card, but you will have to do a search.
In its...

Buying an Asus eee PC at PurelyGadgets
Review of PurelyGadgets.co.uk by
dbelinfante
Advantages: quick, cheap, good service, good communications
Disadvantages: No outside-UK orders from their website, you need to phone them.
...My experience with PurelyGadgets is an exclusively positive one. The people on the phone actually have answers to all your questions, your e-mails are answered as if they were waiting for your questions, and your order is delivered one day BEFORE they said it would. What a refreshing experience!
I set out to buy an Asus eee PC 900, and they are hard to find. I found one on PurelyGadgets' site, and wanted to order it there, but currently they only service UK orders thu the site. So I called them, and quickly processed the order via telephone.
They promised me the order would arrive within 5 working days, and it did!
All the while, PurelyGadgets kept me informed of the progress and the option to track the delivery.
At delivery, the only thing missing was an invoice. I e-mailed them, and received a PDF with the invoice withing 30 minutes...

Asus Eee PC: Size does matter
Review of ASUS Eee PC 4G - Celeron M 353 900 MHz - 7" TFT by
lizzielocky
Advantages: Price, easy to use, very portable, good features
Disadvantages: Size, over-heating battery.
.... Because it is really neat in every sense, because it does what it sets out to do and while it doesn't replace a full-sized laptop or a smart phone it's a million times cooler than a PDA and almost as portable.
P.s. I've marked the manufacturer support as Good but haven't yet had cause to contact them so this is just a guess based on their website and the user guide.
An update: My dear Ma is now hooked on email, google and wikipedia. At 78 she has become the villiage expert on broadband, email and web surfing. If we'd bought her a Windows PC I doubt any of this would have been possible. So whatever my doubts as an experienced computer user, this Asus has opened up a vast world to my mother for which we are both extremely grateful!...

Small but perfectly formed!
Review of Asus Eee PC 900 by
brittle1906
Advantages: Ultra portable, lightweight
Disadvantages: Small processor and keyboard
...Review of Asus Eee PC 900 Laptop computer.
As some of my Ciao acquaintances are aware I am currently travelling in the UK with my partner. We are both writers, a long term hobby, which has now become our income as freelancers. A laptop computer has been our trusty companion for some time, however as there are occasions when we both need to be using the machine, we decided to purchase a second laptop to make life a little easier. There is nothing more irritating than needing the computer only to find the other one is hogging the thing!
We researched various machines and decided that as our main laptop is fine for Internet access by means of a usb 3g modem 'dongle', the second machine did not have to be anything too fancy as it would primarily be used for word processing. We tend to use an external hard drive to store our work so...

Excellent Motherboard, but expensive
Review of ASUS P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP AiLifestyle Series - motherboard - ATX - iP965 by
webspot
Advantages: Silent heatpipe, PCI express, Supports Core2Duo
Disadvantages: Price
...Excellent motherboard. This is the first motherboard that I have installed in a computer before, and did ASUS make it easy for me!
The manual is very clear, and tells you where everything is. All the connectors matched up with my Akasa Zen Case connectors, which I thought was great, as since then I didn't have the same experience with a Thermaltake case.
The silent heatpipe, makes this a very quiet motherboard, whereas most normal motherboards would have a rubbish little fan that gets clogged with dust and ends up making a terrible noise. If you need to have a fan on the chipset heatsink, asus provide a fan that slots on to the top of the heatsink.
Aswell as the chipset fan, ASUS provide loads of other stuff. This includes USB expansion, firewire expansion, SATA cables, and more! Great if you need any of this stuff.
Overall I think...
