...The K8V Deluxe from ASUS is one of the latest motherboards supporting the 754 pin Athlon 64 package, and boasting the new VIA K8T800 chipset. With the Athlon 64, you can run 32-bit software, and when 64 bit computing takes hold, you can easily upgrade without having to worry about hardware issues. Goodies in the Box The K8V is a big board, and comes in a similarly huge box. The nice people at ASUS included all the regular cables - as well as a couple of SATA cables. ...I bought a 2x 512MB matched pair of these last year at twice today's price. This 400Mhz, low-latency RAM is perfect for gaming, overclocking, and intensive applications. It has an aluminium cooling heatsink on each stick, which keeps it very cool (I have my sticks overclocked to 420Mhz (860Mhz dual-channel) and they run at a very nice 30C under load. The sticks are ideal for dual-channel enabled motherboards to get some of the highest ram speeds available. The stock timings are 2-2-3-5. For AMD dual-channel, it is recommended to adjust these to 2-2-3-10. For Intel, leave as-is. Compatibility is excellent: I have had these in an ASUS A7n8x Deluxe, and an ASUS K8V, with no problems at all. Read your mobo manufacturer''s recommended ram list prior to buying though. ...for singlesided & DS for Doublesided, diodes & thermistors are sensors on the motherboard that usually measures temperatures. The overall value/buildquality of this board as with all other ASUS boards I have ever owned is IMO close to flawless. I can highly recommended this s939 pci-e motherboard to any AMD64 s939 CPU/PCI-E graphicscard owners except perhaps the extreme overclockers or those who wants to run dual graphiccards. As I bought this board quite a while ago, so there should probably be newer/better alternatives out now I´m not sure which ones though. Oh I almost forgot it´s also fully 32/64-bit compatible. (I haven´t tested Vista on it though). ...The Asus P2B is a stable and feature rich motherboard. It replaced a TMC motherboard I had which had ‘issues’ with Nvidia graphics cards. Since the swap my computer has been more stable in general use, as well as when the graphics card is working hard. Asus support the board well, a recent BIOS update added APCI power saving support. You get onboard USB, two EIDE channels, floppy disk controller, two serial ports, one parallel port and two ps/2 ports and the option to connect an infra red port. Wow! There’s lots of setup options to keep the tweakers happy and even the option of an Asus network card, which adds wake on LAN capability. Asus even have free motherboard monitoring/trouble shooting software available for download! If your slot 1 computer crashes a lot, try changing motherboards – you could be pleasantly surprised.... ...Although I was "happy" with my MSI K8SLI Platinum, there was the "phwoar" factor missing. You know, that little thing that makes your day better....(but more on that on another review...) Anyway, I decided to invest in the Asus A8N-SLI Platinum, on the basis of the board being both affordable, and good value for money (or at least I expected this to be the case :)), and so i spent £95 on the board (yes, there are possibly cheaper places, but this was bought over the counter, (you know, that thing with a person behind, where you can see who is selling you your goods)......:-) The layout on the box was impeccable. Advantages: Very quiet, Good 'bang-for-your-buck'

...My friend asked me to build him a gaming rig at a reasonable price. And if you are on a tight budget this card is excellent. Also if you want to build a quiet rig this card is excellent due to the passive heatsink with no fans. I put this card in a machine with the folloowing specs: Amd 64 3800+ Asus K8V-VM mobo 1 Gig of Geil RAM 160Gig Seagate SATA II HDD 450 Watt power supply This card is a PCI-E x16(pci-express) so make sure your mother board is PCI-E compatible. Also if you decide to buy 2 7600GS's you can put them in an 'SLI' formation so they run in tandom, but again if you decide to do this make sure your mobo has is SLI ready. Also on the back there is a DVI and d-sub connection for people with older monitors. Also there is a little converter so if you have a dsub moinitor you can plug it into this and it will fit in a dvi... Read review
