Reviews of asus motherboard vm
Very stable
Review of ASUS Intel 440BX Chipset P2B - motherboard - ATX - i440BX by
yhwman
Advantages: Stable, feature rich
Disadvantages: None
...The Asus P2B is a stable and feature rich motherboard. It replaced a TMC motherboard I had which had ‘issues’ with Nvidia graphics cards. Since the swap my computer has been more stable in general use, as well as when the graphics card is working hard. Asus support the board well, a recent BIOS update added APCI power saving support. You get onboard USB, two EIDE channels, floppy disk controller, two serial ports, one parallel port and two ps/2 ports and the option to connect an infra red port. Wow! There’s lots of setup options to keep the tweakers happy and even the option of an Asus network card, which adds wake on LAN capability. Asus even have free motherboard monitoring/trouble shooting software available for download! If your slot 1 computer crashes a lot, try changing motherboards – you could be pleasantly surprised....

Daughterboard
Review of ASUS P5V-VM DH Digital Home Series - motherboard - micro ATX - P4M890 by
Ritatsu
Advantages: Cheap...
Disadvantages: Core 2 Extreme?
...I have been using this motherboard with my Intel Core 2 E6600 processor for the last 3-4 months, and it's been nothing but trouble. It does not fully harness and utilize the power of Core 2 as it uses a VIA Chipset rather then the more advanced Intel Core 2 created Chipsets such as the Intel 975X, and it does not support Intel Core 2 Extreme (E6800 processor and above), which is a big negative for upgrading and shows it does not have the necessary abilities for the latest technology.
ASUS P5V-VM DH Digital Home Series
The main technical specs you will need to know to know include:
The micro ATX - P4M890 - LGA775 Socket

An External and Internal Serial ATA 3.0 GB/s

P4P800-VM, Best P4 Micro-ATX Board.
Review of ASUS P4P800-VM - motherboard - micro ATX - i865G by
Darkle
Advantages: 800FSB P4 support, SATA, 8 USB2 connections, AGP 8X and 6ch Sound with SPDIF
Disadvantages: ASUS motherboard site can be down at times
...Without a doubt one of the most powerful feature packed Micro-ATX Boards ever to roll out of the ASUS factory.
This small form factor motherboard using the intel i865 chipset which will take right up the the latest(at time of writing) 3.4 Ghz CPUs, as well as the newer Prescott CPUs with increased Cache and even Extreme edition CPUs.
Add to that an impressive array of onboard features including:
8 USB2 Ports(4 on the rear I/O shield, and PCI plate which will allow you to connect a further 4 from USB headers which are useful for cases with front usb connectors)
Onboard 10/100 Lan. For connecting to a home network or router for internet access or file sharing.
Dual Channel DDR 400. Dual channel is basically a way of putting in two identical sticks of rm, for example 2x 512mb crucial 3200, and the motherboard splits and fires data...

ASUS P5PE-VM
Review of ASUS P5PE-VM - motherboard - micro ATX - i865G by
djohan
Advantages: Flexible
Disadvantages: -
...Being a personal computer (PC) supplier, I try to find a 'better' product with better price for my consumers. As a fact, consumers would have a good product with reasonable price.
ASUS is a well known manufacturer for mainboards. It always gets awards from several PC magazines and institutions. This image gives Asus a high goodwill? This is not my personal opinion, but it comes from my consumers.
Awards? Some new PC consumers do not realize that awards are given to CERTAIN PRODUCTS of a manufacturer. As Asus products always gets awards, it does not mean all Asus products are the best.
Seeing the fanatic consumers of Asus, and standing at the supplier side, I try to offer my consumers ASUS P5PE-VM mainboard as it offers the most competitive price and it comes with some nice features.
SPECIFICATIONS
Intel 865G chipset...

ASUS A8N-E BEST MOTHERBOARD I EVER USED
Review of ASUS A8N-E - motherboard - ATX - nForce4 Ultra by
Hi-Spec-Tek
Advantages: EVERY ADVANTAGE, SPEED, RELIABILITY, PERFORMANCE. A GREAT ALROUNDER.
Disadvantages: I COULD FIND NONE
...was lit and the HDD's whirred on the press of the button) but no video. I can only draw my conclusions is that since the only thing I had not changed was my excellent A8N-E motherboard that it must be this that has gone u/s. All the plug-ins worked fine in the other PC!
ASUS: Please remake some more of these super MoBo's, there are none to be found nowadays, I have searched, there are a few s/h ones, but I want new. I searched for almost a week on the internet but can only find and STILL find the Sister motherboards, the ASUS A8N-SLI and the -VM models. Now why are these still around? They are gaming MoBo's in the main but as I cannot find a new replacement for my dead A8N-E, I will certainly get hold of one of these that are of the same brood. The ASUS A8N-SLI will do me nicely. I wish I could go to a shop and purchase a replacement though...

Great ASUS motherboard with onboard graphics
Review of ASUS A7N8X-VM - motherboard - micro ATX - nForce2 IGP by
paulfoel
Advantages: price, reliability, on board graphics
Disadvantages: none
...Great cheap nForce2 motherboard that comes complete with onboard LAN, onboard sound, and more importantly onboard Geforce 4 graphics. Also comes with TV Out.
You can if you like add your own graphics card via the AGP 8x slot.
Supports Athlon processors up to 3.0Mhz and can support DDR400 memory (but only if you add a separate graphics card into the AGP slot, otherwise you'll need to use DDR333).
The great thing about this card is that everything is onboard without the need to purchase extras. The onboard Geforce 4 graphics although not state of the art will be sufficient for most users unless you're a really avid 3D gamer. Although, of couse, you can always add a separate card at a later date.
Sound is produced onboard by a 6-channel processor which produces great 5.1 surround sound, so no real need to buy a separate sound card...

Excellent Motherboard, but expensive
Review of ASUS P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP AiLifestyle Series - motherboard - ATX - iP965 by
webspot
Advantages: Silent heatpipe, PCI express, Supports Core2Duo
Disadvantages: Price
...Excellent motherboard. This is the first motherboard that I have installed in a computer before, and did ASUS make it easy for me!
The manual is very clear, and tells you where everything is. All the connectors matched up with my Akasa Zen Case connectors, which I thought was great, as since then I didn't have the same experience with a Thermaltake case.
The silent heatpipe, makes this a very quiet motherboard, whereas most normal motherboards would have a rubbish little fan that gets clogged with dust and ends up making a terrible noise. If you need to have a fan on the chipset heatsink, asus provide a fan that slots on to the top of the heatsink.
Aswell as the chipset fan, ASUS provide loads of other stuff. This includes USB expansion, firewire expansion, SATA cables, and more! Great if you need any of this stuff.
Overall I think...

Building an Athlon System
Review of AMD K7 (Athlon) by
Vistaway
Advantages: Cheaper and faster than Intel
Disadvantages: Fewer and more expensive motherboards
...After suffering with a P200 for too long, I decided to build a new system - and my sights fell towards AMD. The Athlon is a great chip, which offers the desirable combination of performance and price. The chips are significantly cheaper than similar Intel ones, but Slot A motherboards do run more expensive. Even so, the combination of an Athlon 700 and Asus K7V (£230)was much cheaper than the same Intel combo would have been. Installation was simple, with Asus providing a great manual. There was a problem with the motherboard initially (wouldn't POST), but a second one worked perfectly. My system has been running dead stable, cool, and fast! Even with a less-than-ideal AGP 2x graphics card, the performance in games and graphics apps is fantastic. I am completely satisfied with the AMD processor, and am currently shopping...

A good mid-range motherboard for P4 CPUs
Review of ASUS P4S800 - motherboard - ATX - SiS648FX by
Vicster1784
Advantages: Inexpenisve, good performance, lots of ports and slots
Disadvantages: Ports a bit cluttered, no WiFi
...Asus P4S800
Asus have always done a pretty good job at making motherboards. Since my second computer I’ve gone for nothing but Asus when it came to choosing internal components for my home made machines. Looking for a new motherboard I came across this one – a motherboard based on one of the latest Intel chipsets 865PE.
This version of the motherboard is the basic stripped down one, with other more expensive versions of the card available, such as the Wireless and Deluxe editions. I honesty don’t see much point in paying more money for wireless that I don’t use and more ports and things since this has more than enough even for someone as demanding as myself.
Design:
The main issue with this motherboard is its design. Don’t get me wrong – it looks good, not that it matters considering it’s going to be hidden away in your computer...

A board that impressed an experienced PC builder
Review of ASUS SiS Chipset A7S-VM - motherboard - micro ATX - SiS730S by
Punty
Advantages: Cheap but powerful and feature packed.
Disadvantages: er... its not free?
...At the begining of September I was given the challenge of building a good PC for my girlfriend by her mum. The catch? I had to keep the price around (or below for preference) £500.
So as I usually do, I set off to research what £500 could get me at the big high street retailers like Dixons, PC World, etc.
The answer? Not much, not much at all. Several actually advertised their £800+ PC systems as "budget". Now maybe its the student part of me but £800 is definatly not budget by any means, so I choose to build it myself.
My first choice of parts just made the £500 limit but I was missing the Operating System and some software so I had to cut corners.
It was at this stage that I discovered the ASUS A7S-VM. The board comes with onboard sound, 3D AGP graphics and networking and costs only £80.
This was a significant saving on buying...
