Review of ASUS P4B533-VM - motherboard - micro ATX - i845G

P4P800-VM, Best P4 Micro-ATX Board.

Advantages: 800FSB P4 support, SATA, 8 USB2 connections, AGP 8X and 6ch Sound with SPDIF
Disadvantages: ASUS motherboard site can be down at times

...Without a doubt one of the most powerful feature packed Micro-ATX Boards ever to roll out of the ASUS factory. This small form factor motherboard using the intel i865 chipset which will take right up the the latest(at time of writing) 3.4 Ghz CPUs, as well as the newer Prescott CPUs with increased Cache and even Extreme edition CPUs. Add to that an impressive array of onboard features including: 8 USB2 Ports(4 on the rear I/O shield, and PCI plate which will allow you to connect a further 4 from USB headers which are useful for cases with front usb connectors) Onboard 10/100 Lan. For connecting to a home network or router for internet access or file sharing. Dual Channel DDR 400. Dual channel is basically a way of putting in two identical sticks of rm, for example 2x 512mb crucial 3200, and the motherboard splits...

A good mid-range motherboard for P4 CPUs

Advantages: Inexpenisve, good performance, lots of ports and slots
Disadvantages: Ports a bit cluttered, no WiFi

...computer case, but the layout of the ports on the back, such as USB and Audio/Mic jacks is not the best. It?s very cluttered and often is a challenge to get to. My previous motherboard (also from Asus) had a similar issue and I had to make quite an effort to plug/unplug anything from the back. Other than that it?s done pretty well and everything on the actual board is color coded so that you can plug everything in quite easily, should you be upgrading or building your machine from scratch. The slots on the motherboard are: ? Socket 478 (for Pentium 4 CPUs) ? 4 DDR SDRAM DIMM slots ? AGP 8x ? 5 PCI ? WiFi slot (not actually useful unless you buy the WiFi card from Asus for a lot of money) ? ATX power ? FDD ? 2 IDE ? 2 SerialATA ? 2 USB 2.0 (for external wiring) ? COM port ? Game port ? Audio/mic jacks ? Ethernet ? Fan controller...

A High Performance Motherboard

Advantages: Features rich, FSB 800MHz, USB2.0, Firewire, Dual Channel DDR, Supports upto 3.2Ghz, Prescott Ready, RAID, 8x AGP, On-board 1GB LAN, On-board Sound, Supports 4GB DDR RAM IT TALKS!
Disadvantages: Expensive, Asus website is SLOW.

...I wanted to build a new computer for myself but I also wanted a FAST one, and I can?t have a fast computer without a good motherboard. The ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe is a computer motherboard from the computer hardware company, Asustek (aka Asus). ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? JARGON BUSTER: A motherboard (aka: mainboard in the U.S) is a big circuit board found inside the computer. You have one inside the computer you?re using right now (assuming you?re using a computer to access the Internet). It?s no longer uncommon for people to buy motherboards on their own to build their own computers. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? WHY THE P4C800-E Deluxe? Reason I bought the P4C800-E Deluxe was because I heard that it is/was used by Alienware, a company that specializes in building high-end computer systems, in machines built for powerful computer games...

Asus P4P800S Motherboard

Advantages: Performance, Quality, Value, Features
Disadvantages: High-end not possible

...The first time I decided to build my own computer, this is what I used... After opening the instructions (which were very well presented and informative), I easily managed to attatch to the minitower, and install all parts onto the board without trouble. It booted up fine, Now for the good stuff. Performance - Being able to support 2GB of DDR RAM, this board is pretty powerful, powerful enough in fact that it can be used for high level graphics editing and CAD work. Games work like a dream with enough memory, and there are VERY RARELY crashes or system conflicts. Features - USB2, SATA, wireless lan, SPDIF outlet, SoundMax audio drivers, etc. Very advanced and varied range of features and extras are supplied and supported by the motherboard, and its a very good, all rounded board. I still use the board to this day, and it...

Asrock P4V88 Skt478 Motherboard

Advantages: Easy Setup, Great Performance, Cheap but Reliable
Disadvantages: Some components hard to reach

...I bought this motherboard when I was building my first ever system, mainly due to the cost but also due to it's wide range of features. On the face of it, it's nothing to shout home about, but it's reliable and should something go wrong, during installation or testing, it won't break the bank if you need to purchase another. It comes well packaged, with a fairly well laid out multilingual manual, all the cables you'll need (Floppy, SATA, IDE), the Install CD (although in my opinion it's not really needed) and even an anti-static foam mat for preparation of the board. On the whole, the board is well laid out, with the connectors for the drives grouped together and a good distance from the pci/agp slots. There are 6 USB 2.0 ports on this board, and they are connected by means of pins. There are also pins for firewire, audio...

mATX - Small, Sound, Old

Advantages: ATX-compatible, Power-efficient, Inexpensive, Supports ATA and SATA
Disadvantages: Obsolete DDR Technology, Unsuitable for Gamers

...ASRock P4i65G is a compact motherboard for that tiny PC case. Because it was manufactured for microtower standard computer boxes, it lacks the strengths that the following customers would desire: workstation administrators, hardcore gamers, media professionals. In other words, this motherboard is currently suitable only for those with medium requirements (if you wish to buy it for a new computer) and highly recommended for Socket 478 processor owners. Introducing mATX Power Capacity Most mATX computers support power supplies of no more than 350W, and the case is sometimes too small for you to stuff two hard disks. This motherboard can easily house a P4 3.4 GHz HT (one of the most powerful and watt-guzzling monocore CPUs) that can compete with modern dual core processors, multiple DVD-ROMs and hard disk...

MSi 845E Max (6566e) Pentium 4 motherboard

Advantages: Fast, cheap, stable, excellent support and v good manual
Disadvantages: Requires a minimum of Win ME upwards

...Ive been using the MSi 845E max (6566e) motherboard for the past 2 years and it still performs as stable now as it did back then. The board itself is very well packaged and comes with all the usual extras including drivers CD and IDE cables for both CD-roms/hard drives and floppy disc aswell as an excellently informative and well laid out manual. The 845E Max by MSi supports all Pentium 4 processors as well as Celerons upto 3.06 ghz using the built in 845E Intel chipset and includes full support for both 133mhz front side bus (FSB) quad pumped (133 x 4 = 533 fsb) Pentium 4's and 184 pin PC 2100 (266mhz) DDR memory upto 2 ghz, there are 2 available memory slots which is plenty for most people and i whole heartedly recommend firstly adding 1 x 512mb of DDR to the motherboard so as to leave 1 free DDR slot if you ever chose to add...

ASUS AMD Athlon Motherboard

Advantages: HDTV output, supports AMDs Cool 'n' Quiet
Disadvantages: Only one lan

...The ASUS M2NPV-VM Motherboard for AMD single-core Athlon 64/ Sempron and Dual-core Athlon 64 X2/ Athlon FX processors using socket AM2 is very user friendly, I went with AMDs 64 x2 3800+ processor in the beginning then moved up to 4200+ 2Gb Ram without any hassle, very easy to setup and fits easily in a standard ATX case. A possible downside to the board is that it has a limited number of slots due to being a micro ATX sized board. That's not a big deal for me as the only two cards I'll be buying in the future is Graphics and a extra Lan card. Board Layout `````````````````` >In the upper right hand corner of the motherboard are the ATX 24 pin power connector, Floppy disk connector, Game/Midi port connector and four DDR2 slots. These DDR2 slots support a maximum memory capacity of 8GB and the frequencies supported is DDR2-800MHz/667...
