...Excellent motherboard. This is the first motherboard that I have installed in a computer before, and did ASUS make it easy for me! The manual is very clear, and tells you where everything is. All the connectors matched up with my Akasa Zen Case connectors, which I thought was great, as since then I didn't have the same experience with a Thermaltake case. The silent heatpipe, makes this a very quiet motherboard, whereas most normal motherboards would have a rubbish little fan that gets clogged with dust and ends up making a terrible noise. If you need to have a fan on the chipset heatsink, asus provide a fan that slots on to the top of the heatsink. Aswell as the chipset fan, ASUS provide loads of other stuff. ...For your information, I decided to select a cheaper MOBO being the Asus P5N32-E SLI PLUS, rather than the Asus Striker Extreme and then upgrade the graphics card to the 8800GTX 768MB Ultra. The reason I have done this is that following considerable research and reviews on the net, the Asus P5N32-E SLI PLUS is basically a stripped down Asus Striker Extreme with almost identical performance. However the 8800GTX 768MB Ultra provides a gain in performance in all applications including games of around 10% which for me at least is a significant performance gain. Therefore if the reviews I have read are accurate, I have increased the performance of my system by at least 10% for no extra cost, in fact for a saving of £14. The Asus P5N32-E SLI PLUS is also a great board for the over-clockers amongst you, although I wont be overclocking. So my... Read review

...I have been using this motherboard with my Intel Core 2 E6600 processor for the last 3-4 months, and it's been nothing but trouble. Advantages: Good Budget buy for non AMD systems

...I bought an ATI Expert 2000 AGP w TV/OUT a couple of months ago, and NOW it is a reasonable card......but beware. When i first bought the card (to slot onto my ASUS P5A MB with a K6-2 500 processor) I had major problems with getting my system operational. Firstly, the drivers that are supplied on CD do not work with the ASUS motherboard, you will have to find up to date drivers from the net (substantial download - be warned 56k users). I have finally managed to get my computer working again by varying graphics card drivers / AGP drivers and IDE drivers. Be warned though this has taken me months! System Hangs are frequent, as are erroneous "power saving" signals to your monitor which leave the computer operational but dont allow the monitor to come back on until you reboot. ...With all the new processors about with their Slot 1, PPGA, Slot A or Socket A there is still a place for Socket 7 (or SuperSocket 7 for processors that run faster than 233Mhz). I bought my Asus P5A last year when I decided I needed more speed but wanted to keep to the same processor family (AMD K6). I had previously used an Asus TX-97E (which is now running in a second machine) but decided to take advantage of the 100Mhz bus and other revisions brought in with ATX motherboards. ...Being a personal computer (PC) supplier, I try to find a 'better' product with better price for my consumers. As a fact, consumers would have a good product with reasonable price. ASUS is a well known manufacturer for mainboards. It always gets awards from several PC magazines and institutions. This image gives Asus a high goodwill? This is not my personal opinion, but it comes from my consumers. Awards? Some new PC consumers do not realize that awards are given to CERTAIN PRODUCTS of a manufacturer. As Asus products always gets awards, it does not mean all Asus products are the best. ...I bought my P5A a couple of months ago, and was pretty pleased with allround performance, it got on well with my K6-2 500. Everything was all fine and dandy in fact, until i bought an ATI Expert2000. There are some serious compatability problems with this card, and I would suggest that erveryone should steer clear of this particular combination. I have however managed to get around the problems with carefully varying the driver versions for motherboard (AGP/IDE) and the graphics card. I have also had a lot of contact through newsgroups with other users having the same problems as me, however the problem is that ASUS blames ATI and vice versa. Back to the motherboard though - apart from the problems with ATI cards, its very nice indeed. Its a well set out board which allows wiring without haveing cables everywhere - and its not too... Advantages: Overclocking is Easy, Quality Product, Great Performance

...! The motherboard comes with all sorts of programs including ASUS Probe, which is a lovely little utility which quickly provides a comprehensive and dynamic list of all temperatures within the PC. Great for a quick check, if you're after system stability. The motherboard specs are pretty convincing too: - Socket LGA775 for all the new Pentium D processors too! - Intel 955X Chipset - DDR2 800 - PCI-E - PEG Link It also features support for outboard SATA3 devices. The motherboard supports 5 internal SATA3 devices. 4 of these are controlled by Intel's ICH-7R chip and support native RAID. In either 0, 1, 5 or 10 configuration. Advantages: Easy overclocking, well laid out, packed with features
Disadvantages: One IDE port, expensive.

...model for example defaults at 2.4Ghz but even an overclocking novice with aircooling could quite easily get one of these chips to 3Ghz and the performance increase is quite amazing. However to get it there you need an expensive board as very few of the cheap ones can produce high overclocks. This is where the Asus P5K range come in. They are the high end Asus boards taking over the 975 and 965 chipset boards with the all new P35 chipset. It is arguable that the new chipset doesn't actually offer anything over the 965 chipset in terms of overclocking but what the P35 does give you is the compatibility with new faster processors soon to be released. Clearly seeing as the prices of high end 975 and 965 boards are roughly the same as the P5K Deluxe it makes sense to aquire a little future proofing too. The board itself is packed full... ...The Asus P2B is a stable and feature rich motherboard. It replaced a TMC motherboard I had which had ‘issues’ with Nvidia graphics cards. Since the swap my computer has been more stable in general use, as well as when the graphics card is working hard. Asus support the board well, a recent BIOS update added APCI power saving support. You get onboard USB, two EIDE channels, floppy disk controller, two serial ports, one parallel port and two ps/2 ports and the option to connect an infra red port. Wow! There’s lots of setup options to keep the tweakers happy and even the option of an Asus network card, which adds wake on LAN capability. Asus even have free motherboard monitoring/trouble shooting software available for download! If your slot 1 computer crashes a lot, try changing motherboards – you could be pleasantly surprised....
