Are ASUS Eee PCs worth the Money?

Advantages: Good battery life, Good specifications, Wireless N and Bluetooth
Disadvantages: Better netbooks available, Poor webcam

I don't know if it's because Asus used cheap drives again but with 1GB of RAM, I expected a little bit better. I like the wireless connectivity capabilities of this laptop, as it has Bluetooth as well as Wireless (WiFi) connectivity. Bluetooth is useful to me as I sometimes have photos on my phone that I need to load onto a computer to email or upload somewhere. This saves me having to install software and plug a cable to my phone to get the pictures onto the computer. I also have the ability to connect to the Internet on my phone and then share the Internet with a computer to to enable Internet access via the phone's connection. Don't get me wrong this board is still brilliant but the board is so new that it needs some extra work and TLC before it will be working as it should. I would also like to point out that I was slightly disappointed with the support provided by there American IT Support helpdesk who where extremely rude and had a very annoying habit of hanging up on me for no apparent reason. They where also not that helpful and didn't seam knowledgeable when it came to motherboard support. ...I was very lucky to get our Asus Eee PC 1000H today. The version I have here is a 10-inch Windows XP version, with 1GB RAM and an 80GB hard drive. Having only just unboxed the tiny wonder and played with it for around one hour, this is my very early impressions. Firstly, the accessories you get in the box make it seem a lot better value than other offerings. The stumpy, yet high capacity battery should yield much longer runtimes than the 3-cell batteries shipping with other netbooks. You also get a nice little manual, a polishing cloth, Support CD and MS Works 9.0 licence. There is also a slip case, which is functional and means you can get out-and-about with your Eee very quickly. The 1000H unit is very very sexy. Pocket sized portability with the Asus Eee Pc 701

Disadvantages: Processor power, memory capacity

...may have difficulties downloading and installing things as there are differences. Also it is quite likely there will be some compatibility issues when running apps and things as not all programs, games etc have a Linux version yet. As for surfing speed the ASUS is pretty fast depending on your wireless connection and copes well with most websites although the small screen can make your eyes ache after a while. It can stream video content without any trouble and even run a few fairly low spec games although don't expect it to be able to cope with the latest Call Of Duty release!!! It can run word processing apps and spreadsheet software so perfect if you need to take your work with you and is also ideal for racing through your inbox on the move. Good Laptop, if you don't need asus support

Advantages: 64bit processor, fast and realible,good battery life
Disadvantages: No Bluetooth, all USB behinde, it used to work a bit warm than intel processors

...I've got this laptop for 2 years, very good pc-replacement, Very fast when it comes from factory but as you install those thousands of updates to your windows it become very slow, you can sort it out just by making a memory upgrade to 2GB. But asus support is just waste of time, as I'm waiting for them just 6 months, only to come to my place, collect my laptop and fix a simple overheating problem (just dust inside) and a mini-PCI wireless adapter replacement which is not working very well anymore. You call them and they say to you go to their website and fill one application of service, always like that, but nobody call you back or have it to fix...

...Well I just love this laptop. It is everything I want in a laptop. It does have a few minor flaws but the pros totally outweigh them. Appearance This laptop is a great looking laptop. Only the size of an A5 notepad, it is small and yet it still manages to look smart yet fun. I chose the baby blue cover for my asus eee but any colour looks just as good. Inside, the layout is neat and tidy with reasonable sized keys for this small laptop. The sides of the laptop look clean in simple as is to be expected with a small laptop like this. Without a CD drive, it allows more room for the 3 USB ports and SD slot allowing the back of the laptop to be left clear bar the power port. Overall, a great looking laptop. ASUS A8V-XE "a great companion for your s939 CPU"

Advantages: Stability, Overclockingfriendly & also Dirtcheap
Disadvantages: Not really only minor annoyances

...for singlesided & DS for Doublesided, diodes & thermistors are sensors on the motherboard that usually measures temperatures. The overall value/buildquality of this board as with all other ASUS boards I have ever owned is IMO close to flawless. I can highly recommended this s939 pci-e motherboard to any AMD64 s939 CPU/PCI-E graphicscard owners except perhaps the extreme overclockers or those who wants to run dual graphiccards. As I bought this board quite a while ago, so there should probably be newer/better alternatives out now I´m not sure which ones though. Oh I almost forgot it´s also fully 32/64-bit compatible. (I haven´t tested Vista on it though).
