This is not my personal opinion, but it comes from my consumers. Awards? Some new PC consumers do not realize that awards are given to CERTAIN PRODUCTS of a manufacturer. Being an indirect consumer (I am running a PC-Shop), I have built 16 PC using this motherboard since 4 months ago, and none of them returns to me till now. It proves the stability and endurance of this product. Formerly I recommended Asus P5PE-VM which comes with onboard graphic-card and lower price. Both P5PE-VM and P5VD2-X support Intel Core 2 Duo processors, but if you are interested in having a “better” motherboard with a reasonable price rate, I would recommend you to buy P5VD2-X. ...About two years ago or more, I purchased TWO of these ASUS A8N-E motherboards and built up two identical systems. One of these I had been using for up to 16 hours per day and that was over two years of many hours of long and hard usage. I have nothing but praise for this model, the speed and reliability has been exemplary all this time. I run both of my PC's at 3% over-clock all the time but have tried 5% too, this I found made the PC unstable and sometimes it would reboot itself and sometimes not boot up at all but just go in an attempted boot-up in an endless cycle. So I took the Over-clocking NOS down to 3% where it has stayed and has been trouble free. I think it is required that there is good cooling and ventilation. ...This is the first Intel compatible board I've ever bought. After buying AMD for many years, I picked this board with the new Pentium D 805 processor because of the immense overclocking potential. The processor was a mere £79.95 and runs at 2.66Ghz standard. I've overclocked it to 3.4Ghz with no stabililty issues using only fans and heatsinks. Tom's Hardware have reportedly got 4.1+Ghz out of this chip using water cooling..! So, I was confident after buying ASUS motherboards for AMD for years that their Intel boards would be just as good. I was right. The motherboard is extremely well designed. I noticed a big difference when I was removing the old PC from it's case that this one was replacing. ...running @ higher speeds ofc I now enjoys the silence ;). The ASUS EAX1950PRO is in fact an factory overclocked card but the rather short bump in speed from 575MHz to 581MHz on the GPU & from 1375MHZ to 1404MHz on the GDDR3 memory doesn´t impress me @ all, on the bright side it can be overclocked further (voiding warranty)I have reached a maximum of 635/1540 using the ASUS SmartDoctor utility however the performance gains in games were minimal & sometimes making the Average FPS drop too! (I beleive the reason to be a chip on the card that regulates voltages is getting too hot, to be the main cause of the instabilty/OC issues). You can also run this card in crossfire though it requires a "mastercard" that includes the crossfireconnector bridges.
