ATA - I SAY NAY!

...We flew from Gatwick to Orlando on ATA in October 2000. Although the flights were ok the planes that we flew on where outdates and uncomfortable. To start with the planes were so old that they needed to refuel in Canada. The refuelling process requires all passengers to disembark (down steps into the cold Canadian weather) for safety purposes and then wait in a horrible terminal building for 45 minutes before getting back onto the same plane to carry on the journey. We left all of our belongings on the plan. This is not too bad if done during the day ? however, the return flight also requires that every passenger leave the plane. That?s no fun with three kids at one in the morning in the middle of October. Sony Walkman NWZ-B133B 1GB mp3 player Review.

Advantages: Solid buttons, small and good looking, quick USB charge, recording feature.
Disadvantages: Easy to damage front glass, USB charge makes it hard to use without access to PC.

Cheap, Loud, Hot, and Turbulent...Just Like Me

Advantages: kind of cheap, on time, cool head rests on some planes
Disadvantages: no space, loud, turbulent, hot, not THAT cheap

...American Trans Airlines (ATA) is one of the most budget of all the budget airlines in the USA. When my aunt went to Boston's Logan Airport to pick me up, she couldn't find ATA's monitors listing flight information... because they DON’T HAVE ANY in Logan! ATA also claims that their website has up-to-date flight info, but it doesn't. The baggage carousel was not labelled either, so we had to wander around a bit to figure out where my bag was going to be spit out. However, I shouldn't really complain too much since I arrived safely on four ATA flights, without having to shell out too much dough and with my luggage intact. ...I flew wit ATA from Aldergrove (NI) to Florida (USA) via Gander (Newfoundland)several years ago. I can now tell you what colour the ceiling is at Gander. The flight was a charter like most ATA flights. Also, like most ATA flights, it was late. Very Late! On the outward journey, it left several hours late. It was at Gander for an extra hour. Coming,. back it was one hour late leaving Florida. Nine hours late leaving Gander. Fortunately, we all got a very cold piece of toast each. The plane was old yet still managed to go the whole summer without being more than one and a half days late. The next week it was 36 hours late leaving Belfast. Now Belfast is not a very busy airport and "missing a slot" doesn't cause a delay. The only reason for the delay was the palne breaking down and bery poor punctuality. The Worst Airline Ever..

Disadvantages: Customer Service, Safety, To much stress!

...Worst Airlines Ever.... As the clerk at the airport in Las Vegas stated when our luggage from Maui had not come out on the turnabout in over an hour, What airline? ATA, oh there you go, you get what you pay for..with them. That is basically nothing. When we arrived at Vegas airport to leave for our Maui, Hawaii trip we found no clerks at the ATA counter and a sign that said they would arrive in 2 1/2 hours. All the other counters were busy with passengers getting their tickets. This was after a high alert was given on the news to arrive early. When they did arrive, I was first in line. A flight from Honolulu had arrived and it had been delayed 5 hours and they were all taken before me by 3 clerks. Not one clerk to help the others who were trying to leave for Hawaii. Apple MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo 2.26 GHz - 13.3" TFT - excellent!

Advantages: portable, runs very fast, large storage with TimeMachine application for backing up your work
Disadvantages: some problems with using Safari, though this may be due to the wireless network I am using, costs!

I had never used SATA before and was only familiar with IDE cables ? the annoying thick ones that are a pain to connect. Unlike IDE cables, SATA leads can only be plugged in one way at both ends. This cable holds the power connection stable too. This cable can only really be used on Western Digital hard drives, but they are a leading manufacture and highly recommended. Both WD Raptor and WD Caviar SE Serial ATA drives use this unique connection, but there are also other SecureConnect compatible hard drives out there. Fast, cavernous storage and great value

Advantages: Fast, huge capacity, fantastic value
Disadvantages: Not as fast as other CF cards but then they are FAR more expensive

...With flash memory coming down in price all the time, it pays to at least think about getting more than you need right at this moment. As the capacity goes up, so do the picture and video resolutions in the devices that use this memory, and the need for even more space increases too. I needed to more space as I recently purchased a Digital SLR camera that takes 10 megapixel photos. The Transcend 133X Compact Flash HIGH 16384 MB has a 16 Gigabyte capacity which seems cavernous to those 512MB and 1GB cards that were at the top of the food chain just a few years ago. It's also one of the cheapest 16GB CF cards around too, retailing for a credit crunch busting £23.65 inc VAT at time of writing - that's getting on for just £1 per Gigabyte!!! 16GB is, unsurprisingly, enough for quite a few photos. A Great Tripod

Advantages: Great piece of equipment for great photos

...I bought my Vanguard VT 133 about 2 years ago from a local camera shop that was closing down so I got this product brand new for about £15.99 when other shops where selling it at about £50.00 mark, some lower, some shops slightly higher. The tripod was bought not long after I had purchased my camera from the same shop.
