Fuji FP4800 - Stunning looks with quality results
Review of Fujifilm FinePix 4800 Zoom by
tomhughes
Advantages: Stylish, takes great photos, pleasure to use.
Disadvantages: Falling behind a little in spec terms...
...INTRODUCTION
I purchased my Fuji FinePix 4800 around a year ago after doing a lot of research into what the best digital camera for me would be. I eventually settled on the 4800 due to excellent reviews I had read, its stunning looks and the great deal I found on it (£200 from a small camera dealer).
THE CAMERA
The camera arrived; I was immediately struck by its beautiful design (after all, it was designed by Porsche!). Smooth and sleek with excellent textures, all of the controls look like they belong exactly where they're placed and the whole thing is extremely tactile. It’s just the right weight so that it feels solid but not too chunky. It just about goes in my pocket but perhaps it could have done with being a little smaller/lighter.
All of the camera's extremities are concealed within the camera while its off, turning...

DC4800 A Good Buy!
Review of Kodak DC 4800 by
Pastynicholls
Advantages: Ready to shoot, ease of use, good selection of settings
Disadvantages: weired shape to handle
...fell in love with the Kodak DC 4800 for the following reasons
*Kodak is a name I trust.
*It had 3.1 Megapixel uncompressed resolution (which was very good back then)
*3 x zoom optical
*2 x zoom digital
*Had a viewing screen on the rear
*Does all the things my happy snappy cameras did
So what functions are there on the camera I hear you ask (oh yes I so! Or is that just the voices inside my head again?) Well you get these:
## Camera top / front ##
*Self-timer button
*Exposure compensation dial
*Power button (on off)
*Flash pop up button
*Flash unit
*Flash button
*Shutter button
*Mode dial
*Self-timer light (light warns you when photo is about to be taken – handy)
*Landscape/close up button
*Status display panel
~~ Status display panel ~~
>Manual mode
>Distant
>Close up
>Black and white function
>ISO setting...

Epson DX4800 All In One Printer/Copier/Scanner
Review of Epson Stylus DX4800 by
Mozza46
Advantages: Easy to Install and Use, Array Of Functions, Good Value.
Disadvantages: Lacks a Display to View Photos.
...The Epson DX4800 is a good value printer for those who want professional looking documents and photos. It is easy to install, just simply plug it in a spare USB socket in your computer and install the bundled software! Once setup you have access to an array of features including a photo printer, scanner and copier. The best part is, you don't even need a computer to use the copier and photo printing functions. The copier function simply consists of placing the document you wan't to copy in the copy/scanner bay and deciding what size paper you want and whether you want to copy in black and white or colour. Simple! Photo printing is even easier, with a built in memory card reader to print of your favourite snaps from your digital camera. The only thing the printer does lack infact, is a display to view your photos before printing. To scan...

The AMD AthlonXP 2600+? 3200+ more like
Review of AMD Athlon XP 2600+ / 1.92 GHz processor by
Sebworld
Advantages: Fast, Excellent MHz/£ ratio, Highly Overclockable
Disadvantages: Hotter than Intel P4s, Die is more fragile.
...The AMD AthlonXP 2600+ is in my opinion the best choice for those of you thinking of upgrading, or even buying a new system. And of course I will now tell you why.
Speed
-----------
Running at an FSB of 166MHz, with the help of DDR we double that to 333MHz, the Athlon 2600+ has the equivalent speed of a Pentium 4 2.5GHz (in terms of general use) and because of its optimization with Windows XP boasts Windows processing performance better than Pentiums running faster than 2.7GHz.
In simpler terms it out-performs the Pentium equivalents in every day-to-day tasks.
For games the Athlon runs just as well if not better than the Pentium 4 2.6GHz. The only thing that AThlon XP processors seem to be slower at is hard-core video and music processing (in otherwords putting together a video clip and turning .WAV files into MP3s etc...

The AMD Athlon and should you buy one.
Review of AMD K7 (Athlon) by
mattmajor
Advantages: great performance/price ratio
Disadvantages: slow cache at 0.4x for 800 megahertz
...Last march, when I was shopping for a new computer chip to replace my worn pentium 200, the favored chips seemed to be firmly on Intel's side. The pentium II's and celerons, while costing slightly more than the AMD k6 II's, boasted significantly higher floating point performance (needed for computer games like quake 3 and scientific/professional applications). Even though the AMD K6 II's offered greater integer performance (spreadsheets and word processors), I had to go with a celeron as it offered a greater price/performance ratio.
How times have changed. With the release of the Athlon in the middle of 1999, AMD has finally turned the tables on Intel. Here is why:
Strengths:
Clock Speed
The AMD Athlon, with its basic architecture similar to the Alpha (a powerful and expensive CPU used mostly for servers), is scalable to very...

Guide To Athlon64
Review of AMD Athlon 64 4000+ / 2.6 GHz processor by
Omerali
Advantages: Read review
Disadvantages: Read review
...It might be bit techy for some people, but surely help full so here it goes .
I- Introduction
There has been confusion regarding AMD's 64Bit Processor and its line up. Many Users have been confused to tell by AMD's new line up.
Let's See If I Can Sort That Out.
II- Issues
The Main Topics that i saw were regarding
i) Memory Controller
ii) Chipset
iii) CPU/Platform
So Lets Get Down to addressing them.
III - Memory Issue
The AthlonXP and the Intel Chipsets have been offering Dual Channel Memory for quite some time now. So people thought that everything was the same for the Athlon64. Well it apparently isnt.
For most time, we've seen the memory controller built into the chipset, IE the Northbridge. So that's what people assumed incase of Athlon64 aswell.
What should be kept in mind is that the Athlon64 has...

Athlon Vs P4 wonder who won
Review of AMD K7 (Athlon) by
robin_best
Advantages: Excellent processors, much cheeper than a P4
Disadvantages: Gets a bit on the hot side, but with goodenoug cooling they are fine
...I don’t have an Athlon processor yet as I have just finished university and so am stuck with a PIII 500 that I got form work for nothing. But at work we sell more Athlon processors than others, why? It’s because they cost a lot less than P4’s and they are much better. My friend has one in each of his computers and when he upgraded from a PIII to an Athlon I could easily spot the difference as the machines are brimming over with processing power. Athlons do have one problem and that is that they are, putting it bluntly, bun ovens. they do tend to heat up a lot but with a good fan and cooler you should have no problems.
At its introduction the Athlon processor set new performance standards in personal computing and it continues to enable leading edge performance for cutting-edge applications. The 7th generation...

AMD Athlon XP 3000+
Review of Amd Athlon Xp 3000+ by
china_wolf
Advantages: Decent performance, cheap, you can tell you're mates "I got one too!"
Disadvantages: Not as fast as Pentium 4 rated at same speed, not future proof
...When I go to a few of my mate's home's, I sit down and have a few beers, play a few Playstation 2 games and have a kebab. But then I will always spy their PC sitting in the corner of the room hiding under a desk. I would ask them 'what processor you got in your rig?' and they would reply 'ah you know, AMD Athlon XP'.
AMD Athlon XP processors are cheap and fast. All my mates have them and that's because it runs the games, but doesn't take your bank into financial meltdown. Sure it's not the fastest processor in the world but for the asking price its amazing value for money.
You ever wondered why AMD added 'XP' to the end of their Athlon processors? I always thought it was because they wanted to boost sales using Windows XP, with them having the same suffix and all. But in fact it stands for Xtra Performance, unlike Window's XP which...

Athlon is better
Review of AMD K7 (Athlon) by
spunky
Advantages: Faster
Disadvantages: Doesn't like new programmes
...I used to have a computer with a Pentium 3 750MHZ processor, which I changed for a computer with an AMD Athlon 750MHZ processor. In my view there really is no comparison between the two. They may be rival processors, but the Athlon leaves the Pentium 3 standing. I gave my old computer to a friend, but before I did, I had a little test. When I switched both computers on at the same time, the Athlon machine booted up quicker than the Pentium 3 machine, even though both machines had the same programmes to load at startup.
Opening applications such as Adobe Photoshop, with the AMD Athlon machine is also much quicker. Also I find it much better for games etc.
I'll never go back to using a Pentium based machine, it will always be an Athlon machine, in future.........they are the better processor by far.
I recommend AMD Athlon based machines...

Athlon XP wins against the Intel P4
Review of AMD AthlonXP by
Gowland
Advantages: Price and reliability
Disadvantages: Processor Temperature
...I can only speak from experience, I have run the AMD Athlon XP 1800+, 2100+ and I am currently running the 2200+.
I have found very little difference in performance between them all, but I am sure that the performance is greater the higher the size of processor you get. I guess what I am saying is that once you get to the 1800+ processor, you don't really notice the increased performance as much.
The advantages I have found over the Intel P4 is the low price. If you want to purchase on of these processors, may I suggest that you try Ebuyer.com on the internet. I have found them to be very reasonable when comparing the price to even some of the trade prices.
Also the build quality of the chip just looks better, when you compare it against the Intel chip. I had one of the first Intel P4 chips when they first came out and because...
